  • Apartment is a typical type of housing preferred by the majority of people. However, and defect disputes occur because various defects such as cracks, subsidence, breakage, water leakage, dew condensation and dropout are confirmed with numerous structures and finishing materials. From this point of view, this paper analyzes defect frequency and costs of each warranty period by work types, and estimates defect risks by using defect dispute cases. It examined about 5,337 defect items for 32 apartment over ten years old. In this paper, there are 10 types of work types and the warranty liability period is divided into 6 categories. Based on these categories, defect frequency and costs are investigated, and finally defect risk of the warranty liability period by work types confirmed. As a result of this analysis, it was found that defect risk in RC and finishing work is very high. Especially the RC work revealed that there is a high risk of trying from the third year onwards and it was found that the defect risk up to the second year is high in the finishing work. Due to aging of RC structure, the defect risk gradually increases, and finishing work initially cause defect disputes because of the housing environment.

  • Nonwet (Head in Pillow) defect is one of the defects in SMT (surface mount technology) process, the defect is caused by several factors, such as solder paste misalignment, reflow condition, package warpage and package ball size. This paper focused on ① reflow condition ② package ball & solder paste misalignment ③ package ball size for nonwet experiment. The first, on the case of reflow condition, there would be high risk of nonwet defect when the soldering time was increased, but N2 was adopted to reflow process, there could be no or low risk of nonwet defect because of oxidation barrier control. And when the contact depth between Solder ball and solder paste was below 20 ㎛, there could be high risk of nonwet defect. Also smaller package ball would have low risk of nonwet defect.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of clothing involvement on the perceived risk in internet shopping and store selection criteria. The subjects used for the study were 210 male and 338 female college students. The clothing involvement consisted of pleasure, symbolism, and selection difficulty factors. The perceived risk consisted of size/defect risk, social psychological risk, privacy risk, delivery risk, and price risk. The store selection criteria had security/service, entertainment/variety, price/convenience factors. The results showed that consumers were segmented by four groups based on clothing involvement factors: clothing pleasure group, symbolism group, confidence group, and low clothing involvement group. The four segmented groups differed in regard to the perceived risk, store selection criteria, and demographics. For example, clothing pleasure group perceived the size/defect risk and social psychological risk higher than did the other groups. Also, the clothing pleasure group considered entertainment/variety more important and had younger female consumers.

  • Sewer joint-related defect is one of the most common domestic sewer defects along with the lateral pipe problem. However, there are currently no criteria that precisely assess the joint-related sewer defects. Therefore, this study examined the joint-related sewer defects found in domestic circumstances, classified them according to the suggested defect code, and presented the examples of defect pictures. Each defect code was organized as the process of out of pipeline alignment (OPA) which shows the progress in deterioration. Each defect was classified into 5 grades depending on appropriate repair and rehabilitation method. The result of this study is expected to be useful for domestic CCTV inspectors to assess the sewer condition and helpful for managers to make a decision of repair and rehabilitation.

  • The aim of this study was to set a defect classification framework and evaluate the defect risks in apartment buildings For this, approximately 15,056 defect items for 133 apartment buildings were examined. As a result of the analysis, the major defect of the RC work was cracks, which were found mainly in public locations. Moreover, the RC work was found to exhibit a high defect risk of water problem and surface appearance, which are highly connected with cracks. Second, the finish work has a high defect risk because it is composed of various work types, and there are many kinds of materials and construction parts involved. Third, the major defects of the waterproof work were incorrect installation and missing tasks, which have high defect risks in the garage. This is because defects that require rework occur mainly in the underground garage. Based on these results, this study proposed countermeasures for defect risk management to be considered in the construction, handover, post-handover, and occupancy phases. These have been set in detail based on the three zones: low frequency high severity (LFHS), low frequency low severity (LFLS), and high frequency low severity (HFLS).

  • Improvement of the capability to cope with risk based on prior preventive management is very important for efficient operation of financial information system. In order to do this, understanding, analysis, and countermeasures for the risk that happened already in the past is essential. In this study, the defect data which happened in the financial information system including account system, business system and data feeding system during 4 years and 5 months were categorized and analyzed by the domain, defect factors, period, day of the week, phases of software development, and defect cause. As a result, it was identified that the defect data had characteristics and trends along the phase of software development, day of the week, and the cause, also that building risk prediction model was necessary for the risk management of whole financial domain due to the relation of the information systems.

  • In general, defects cause a lot of maintenance costs and serious damage to various stakeholders, such as the owners, contractors or occupants of apartments. For this reason, a systematic and efficient defect management method is needed to minimize defect disputes. This paper derives a defect classification framework and proposes a defect risk assessment model for different types of defects. For this purpose, 6,000 defect items are allocated to the defect classification framework; these items are associated with 34 apartment projects over ten years old. As a result of this analysis, it was confirmed that the defect risks are concentrated in the areas of RC and finishing work. Based on these results, it is necessary to prevent the major risks of defects according to their priority. Based on this research, it is judged that further research to develop a method of managing the risks of defects may be necessary.

  • CCTV inspection method has been used in Korea for more than 20 years, but there is no proper assessment system for sewer failure severity that considers the domestic circumstances. This study classified the defects caused by the overburden load of reinforced concrete sewer pipes depending on severity and developed defect code by analyzing the domestic CCTV inspection videos. The defect score was assigned to each defect code, and it was classified into 5 grades for the decision-making of repair and rehabilitation. The result of this study is expected to be useful for domestic CCTV inspectors to assess the sewer condition and helpful for managers to make a decision of repair and rehabilitation.

  • Purpose: Duodenal atresia (DA) and atrioventricular septal defect (AVSD) are well known ultrasonographic findings associated with Down syndrome. The risk of Down syndrome in fetuses with these anomalies has been reported as 30% to 40%. However, on the basis of our clinical experience, the risk of Down syndrome of DA may be lower in Korean population. To clarify this issue, we compared the risk of Down syndrome between cases with DA and AVSD. Materials and Methods: The study population consisted of neonates who were confirmed as DA or AVSD by postnatal diagnosis. Postnatal diagnosis was made by surgery, postnatal echocardiography, or autopsy. Medical record was reviewed retrospectively. Results: A total of 213 neonates with DA or AVSD were included: 67 cases with DA and 146 cases with AVSD. The risk of Down syndrome was 4.5% (3/67) in DA vs. 29.5% (43/146) in AVSD. When confining analysis to those whose karyotyping were not performed during antenatal period, the risk of Down syndrome were 7.9% (3/38) in DA and 35.4% (35/99) in AVSD. Conclusion: The risk of Down syndrome in cases with DA was much lower in Korean population than previously reported risk in the literature. The significance of some antenatal sonographic markers for Down syndrome may be different according to ethnicity.

  • There are many defects that cause the process improvement of lifecycle problems during software development. This paper propose the management method of risk items that removes and manages the lifecycle problems as well. For the similar projects, we can estimate defects and prepare to solve them by using domain expert knowledge and the state analysis of defect items, which can greatly improve the software process. This research provides solution of management of risk items problem and detection of defect transition and its prevention and causes that happen on software development. Also, In this paper propose to making quantity of degree and transition phase.
