  • In this paper, we propose an SPDR (Smith Predictor for Disturbance Reduction) scheme to improve the temperature control by reduction of the disturbance in ROT process with measurement delay. The proposed controller is a combination of Astrom's modified Smith predictor with a disturbance reduction controller and a grey predictor. The grey prediction is used to calculate the inverse of the measurement delay and to predict future variations and tendencies of system output. The simulation results demonstrate the successful performance of the proposed disturbance reduction controller and enhance the robustness of the proposed control scheme.

  • Background: Nasal bone fractures are managed by closed reduction within the 2-week period, and are managed by secondary correction after this time. There is little literature on the delayed reduction for nasal bone fractures beyond the 2-week duration. We report our experience with nasal fractures, which were reduced beyond this period. Methods: A retrospective review was performed for all patients who had undergone closed reduction of isolated nasal bone fracture. Patients were included for having undergone reduction of nasal bone fractures at or more than 2 weeks after the injury. Medical records were reviewed for demographic information, injury mechanism, fracture type, delay in treatment, and cause for delay. Postoperative outcomes were evaluated using computed tomography images. Results: The review identified 10 patients. The average reduction time was 22.1 days. Five of patients underwent reduction between days 15 and 20, and the remaining five patients underwent reduction between days 21 and 41. The postoperative outcomes were excellent in 8 patients and good in 2 patients. Conclusion: Outcomes were superior for nasal fractures with displaced end plates and multiple fracture segments. Our study results appears to support delayed reduction of isolated nasal fractures in the presence of factors that delay bony reunion.

  • The objective of this study is to analyze the greenroof runoff quantity and delay. The experimental districts, have different soil thickness and vegetation, had installed. A measurement was conducted in Seoul University to investigate the runoff quantity and delay of the greenroof. The measurement point of runoff quality data were 8, located next to each experimental district. Also, the precipitation was measured by rain gauges(# RG2). The experimental investigation lasted from 21th July to 4th December, a total of 137 days. The results showed that the greenroof can contribute runoff retention and delay by soil, but the intensity of actual rain event affected the runoff reduction and delay. Overall, when was the rainy season, percent rainfall retention ranged 17.5% and runoff flow was delayed for 1-3 hours. But on the other hand, when was the typical rain event, percent rainfall retention ranged over 90% and runoff flow was delayed for 1-11 hours. In the result, the greenroof had the greatest runoff retention and delay, while for the typical rain event.

  • This paper presents an experimental study on the GDI injector with Bosch method. The injection characteristics, such as the injection quantity, the injection rate, the maximum velocity of the nozzle exit and the injection delay were studied through the change of the injection pressure, the tube pressure and energizing duration in injection rate measurement device using nheptane. The injection quantity is increased by increasing injection pressure, decreasing tube pressure or increasing energizing duration. As the difference of the injection quantity changed, the shape of injection rate was moved with a constant form. The maximum velocity of the nozzle exit showed a tendency to increase as the injection pressure is increased. However, tube pressure did not affect. Overall, it was confirmed that the closing delay is longer than the opening delay in all conditions. As the injection pressure increased, the result has a tendency to decrease the closing delay, it did not affect the opening delay. Reduction of the closing delay showed the reduction of the injection duration. the tube pressure and energizing duration did not affect the injection delay (opening delay, closing delay).

  • The existing in-band interference reduction method recommends the physical separation distance between wireless devices and interference signals, and the interference can be suppressed through the separation distance. If the in-band interference signals can be reduced in a wireless device, a margin can be given to the physical separation distance. Since there is an effect of extending the receiver dynamic range of receivers, it is highly useful for interference reduction and improvement method. In this paper, the structure of an in-band analog IRM(Interference Reduction Module) is proposed and the design and implementation of the proposed analog IRM are described. To design an analog IRM, the interference reduction performance according to the delay mismatch, phase error and the number of delay lines that affect the performance of the analog IRM was simulated. The proposed analog IRM composed of 16 delay lines was implemented and the implemented IRM has the interference reduction performance of about 10dB for a 5G(NR-FR1-TM-1.1) signal having a 40MHz bandwidth at a center frequency of 3.32GHz. The analog IRM proposed in this paper can be used as an in-band interference canceller.

  • On the research field for speech signal, neural network mainly uses for the category classification in speech recognition and applies to signal processing. Accordingly, this paper proposes a noise reduction system using a time-delay neural network, which implements the mapping from the space of speech signal degraded by noise to the space of clean speech signal. It is confirmed that this method is effective for speech degraded not only by white noise but also by colored noise using the noise reduction system, which restores the amplitude component of fast Fourier transform.

  • In order to achieve high efficiency and low cost, new high-speed addressing method is suggested. This can be achieved by reducing the address discharge delay time through the priming effect. This paper suggests a new ADR (Address During Reset) driving method which provides priming particles by using a separated driving method without adding auxiliary electrode or auxiliary discharge. The experimental results show an approximately loons reduction in the formative delay time of address discharge and a reduction in jitter of over 200ns. Also, due to enough time being available for reset, there was a reduction in light emitted during reset of about 29% which improved the dark contrast ratio considerably.

  • In this paper, we propose a delay reduction method for frame-based packet transmit scheduling algorithm. A high-speed network such as ATM network has to provide some performance guarantees such as bandwidth and delay bound. Framing strategy naturally guarantees bandwidth and enables simple rate-control while having the inherently bad delay characteristics. The proposed delay reduction method uses the same hierarchical frame structure as HRR (Hierarchical Round-Robin) but does not use the static priority scheme such as round-robin. Instead, we use a dynamic priority change scheme so that the delay unfairness between wide bandwidth connection and narrow bandwidth connection can be eliminated. That is, we use FIFO (First-In First-Out) concept to effectively reduce the occurrence of worst-case delay and to enhance delay distribution. We compare the performance for the proposed algorithm with that of HRR. The analytic and simulation results show that HFIFO inherits almost all merits of HRR with fairly better delay characteristics.

  • During the last thirty years many structural control concepts have been proposed for the reduction of the structural response caused by earthquake excitations. Their research and implementation in practice have shown that seismic control of structures has a lot of potential but also many limitations. In this paper the importance of two practical issues, time delay and saturation effect, on the performance of controlled structures, is discussed. Their influence, both separately and in interaction, on the response of structures controlled by a modified pole placement algorithm is investigated. Characteristic buildings controlled by this algorithm and subjected to dynamic loads, such as harmonic signals and actual seismic events, are analyzed for a range of levels of time delay and saturation capacity of the control devices. The response reduction surfaces for the combined influence of time delay and force saturation of the controlled buildings are obtained. Conclusions regarding the choice of the control system and the desired properties of the control devices are drawn.
