  • This study investigates effcts of HMO internal structural arrangements on performance, specially cost reduction measured by hospitalization rate. This study formulates formalization, centralization measured by decision-making participation, differentiation, and coordination as structural factors, considering coordination as an intermediate factor between the rest of structural factors and hospitalization rate. The commonly used HMO types is assumed not effective in explaining performance differences. For the empirical test, I use bootstrap regression analyses with 48 HMOs. The results of the analyses show that HMO types fail to explain differences in hospitalization rate. However, dicision-making participation and differention effectively reduce hospiatalization rate, while frmalization increases hospitalization rate and coordination has nonessential effect on hospitalization rate. And, formalization and decision-making participation positively contribute to achieve coordination in HMO. These findings suggest that the theoretical framework derived from rational-citingency theory of formal organization better explains performance differences of HMOs than HMO types.

  • Last year, a disastrous accident happened on the sea. Car ferry Se-wol which was on its way from In-cheon to Je-ju sank in the middle of the western sea. 304 passengers were drowned at the sea in the accident. There were no passengers who were waiting on board ship rescued in the accident. This study is to review the pattern of decision making in the middle of saving a life, right after Se-wol was about to sink. The starting point of this study is decision making on the rescue by rescue corps with no expert knowledge at the initial stage. When it comes to saving victims, there was no expert on rescue on the sea. Failure in rescue at Se-wol disaster lets us find a vicious circle of positive feedback loop. Experts with no experience act like well-qualified persons. Unqualified persons(leaders) have no expertise. Those who pretend to be expert occupy the important post in the hierarchy. It means we could not accumulate expertise of know-how in rescue division. That's why a vicious circle of positive feedback is formed in areas of disasters. It is necessary to train experts in Government Organizations to weaken the vicious circle of positive feedback.

The main purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of ecological enviornment variables(ie, natural physical-biological environment·social-cultural environment·human-built environment) and their dicision-making on their family life satisfaction. Also, it is to provide some fundamental information that helps to elevate the family life satisfaction of the unban middle-aged housewives. The subjects of this study were 305 housewives living in Seoul and Inchon area, whose age was from 40 to 59. The significant results were as follows: 1) Their decision-making was affected by the following variables in the order of health condition, fate-control orientation, husband’s support, monthly family income and the perception of the adequacy of household income. 2) The ecological environment variables which had an influence on family life satisfaction were the perception of the adequacy of household income, husband’s support, fate-control orientation, health condition and educational level. 3) From the regression analysis, the model was found to be highly significant, accounting for 44% of the variance. Thus, husband’s support was the strongest predictor variable.

  • The objectives of this study were to research the power structure of the conjugal decision making process between husbands and wives and how to go about analyzing these processes. Furthermore, to statistically survey the similarities the differences of these between the Japanese and Korean cultures. The subjects of the study were women over the age of 20. The Korean wives resided in Taegu, the Japanese wives in Kobe. The questionnaire destributed to these subjects was bi-lingual in both Korean and Japanese. The data results are as follows : The frequency of negotiation was highest when the wife conceived an idealistic balance in the magnitude of authority arld control between she and her husband. On average, those wives who make decisions their husbands through negotiation do not have as high of a magnitude of control and authority as their husbands. These women idealistically believe that a balance of magnitude and authority exists between them and their husbands. On the other hand, in relationships where decisions are made without negotiation, the magnitude of the wife's authority increases as she idealistically perceives herself as being more powerful than her husband.

  • we can easily find numerous cases, where the outcomes are not up to their expectations, despite the enormous efforts and investments poured on developing ERP systems. Consequently, we are in need of a new methodology for efficient implementation and Maintenance of an ERP system. Therefore, we have investigated and analyzed various problems that may occur in adopting ERP systems, such as high implementation costs, shortage of professional manpower, and lack of active participation from insiders. In this thesis, we developed a new ERP system, focusing on accounting management modules and benchmarked our proposed model to one of the real companies.

  • As technical systems in building are being developed, the processes and systems get more difficult for the average operator to understand. When operating a complex facility, it is beneficial in equipment management to provide the operator with tools which can help in dicision making for recovery from a failure of the system. The main object of the study is to develop real-time automatic fault detection and diagnosis system for optimal operation of IBS building.
