The purpose of this study was to find out older adults' current uses, satisfaction level and life changes by using digital home services. The study collected data from 140 persons who were 55 years and older living in a digital home. The results of the study showed that consideration level of digital home service installation was the major variable to affect the residents' life changes. In general, the residents who use more digital home services experienced higher positive life changes. Therefore, for older adults, various ideas to expand their understanding of digital home services should be developed to increase their positive life changes.

The supply of digital homes has been increasing but digital home services which meet consumer needs under the various conditions have not identified. The purpose of the study was to investigate the residents' characteristics living in digital apartments with comparison of their innovativeness toward technology. Residents who lived in two apartment complexes equipped with fundamental digital home services(Level 1 service) were selected to conduct the survey. A total of 500 responses were used for data analyses. Responses were classified into three groups based on their innovativeness toward technology for data analyses. The results of the study showed that residents' socio-demographic and housing related characteristics differed according to their acceptance trait of new technology. Early adopters and early majority were younger, higher income, and more educated than late adopters. Also, they were more likely to be renters and consider installation of digital home services before they moved in. Respondents who had higher innovativeness tended to experience more positive life changes after using digital home services and possessed more and many digital appliances. Remote control and remote meter reading service were the most preferable features among digital home services without no differences in three groups.

This paper investigates potential favor and intention for acceptance of digital home services through the situational inducement. The result shows that digital home services for the interactive TV, security management, family management and geographical image affect users' intention for acceptance. And it shows that favorable attitudes of the interactive TV services increase in the younger generation and internet users, favorable attitudes of the family management services increase in the thirties, and favorable attitudes of the medical management services increase in the ages of the fifties. In addition it shows that relationship between favor and intention for acceptance of digital home services affects affirmatively, which was illustrated in the coefficient value (0.661) of the R-square by the regression analysis.

Recently, the korean statistical information service reported that the elder people aged over 65 years take 11 percentage point of all population, indicating that the hyper-elder era will advent shortly. As a result, there are remarkably increasing demands for providing self-organizable home agent system for elder people. Of the home agent system, the ubiquitous home service is known to be useful to overcome this problem. However, current ubiquitous home services limited to provide functional services, and it can be observed that there is lack of consideration for elder-support products which are closely interacted with elder people in the living situation. In this paper, we analyze senior aids products that can be combined to the ubiquitous home service, and propose design procedure for senior aids products that can be applied to self-organizable ubiquitous services. We studied characteristics of elder people, current state of affairs for senior aids products, and home services that are highly required by elder people. Moreover, we observed that the ubiquitous home services related to health, safety, and amenity are urgently needed, and those services can be categorized according to residential areas. Following those observances, we proposed a design principle based on the universal design paradigm to provide self-organizable ubiquitous home service environment for elder people using senior aids products.

Development of digital technology has become closely connected with housing environment. Especially for the matured population, it is very important because they need substantial support in their daily lives. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to identify needs of digital network services for future housing development. Previous researches were limited to digital technology of network systems and its usages. On the other hand, this study focuses on not only the technology but services. This study consists of literatures review and empirical survey. The subjects were the mid-age and pre-elderly between 45 to 65. The analysis of this study results outlined as follows: First, the pre-elderly appeared to have, in general, positive perceptions about digital services of the housing environment. The results of needs for each space's, showed strongly in basic safety and aiding system for memories. Second, there are differences in needs according to respondent's characteristics such as sex, income, job, house type, experience in digital system. Third, there are differences between what they think and what they really responded in both spaces and services. It menas that present planning elements may not attractive and suitable to residents. Therefore it is necessary to redesign the services. In the future, the most important thing is, making comfortable space not convenient space. That is, excluding unnecessary elements and pick up the right ones for resident's real demands.

The supply of Korean housing has met the demand thoughout the fourth quarter of the twentieth century, and demographic, social and economic changes have been entailed. All the circumstances became a significant foundation to develop digital homes. This study was designed to find out the residents' current use of and needs for digital services, and the interview with three housewives residing in a recently developed digital home was conducted. The three households used most of the digital services, and favored cellular phone, as the main device to use digital functions, since it's small and easy to carry out and operate. It was noticed that the use and preference of digital services was likely to be explained by the lifecycle each household and the lifestyles of an individual. The participants didn't use the webpage of the digital home since the information contained in the web site wasn't quite useful. Also the interviewees perceived that digital home brings many conveniences and benefits. Currently, the main constraints for further development of digital home in Korea are affordability and the establishment of a variety of life scenarios from real situations.

A context-aware services platform supporting mobile agents consists of sensor nodes and a sensor coordinator. Sensor nodes collect environmental information and transmit the collected information to the sensor coordinator through wireless sensor networks. The sensor coordinator passes the information to the context-aware service module, and the mobile agent. The context-aware service module or the mobile agent performs services suitable for a user's situation based on the environmental information and a service actuation message is delivered to an actuation node through the sensor coordinator. In this paper, we present a context-aware services platform structure employed in our project, and describe context-aware services platform interfaces with a context-aware service module and mobile agents.

In this paper, we propose a Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) proxy system, to provide services for accessing and sharing various DLNA-based media contents which are distributed over his/her or other's home facilities via home network or internet. The proposed system based on DLNA[1] and SIP Notification mechanism[2] so that data such as contents can be transferred from home network consisted with private IP from outside public IP networks.
