한국 남해 연안에 분포하는 눈볼대(Doederleinia berycoides)의 섭이생태 (Feeding Ecology of the Blackthroat Seaperch Doederleinia berycoides in the Southern Seas of Korea)

  • The feeding ecology of Doederleinia berycoides from the southern sea of Korea was examined. Specimens were caught monthly from January 2007 to June 2008. The size of the specimens ranged from 6.8 to 39.8cm in total length (TL). The primary prey items of D. berycoides included fishes and shrimps. In autumn, feeding mainly crustacea and fishes feeding mainly in winter. The individuals of smallest size class (less than 15 cm TL) fed mainly on crustacea. The proportion of crustacea decreased as body size increased, whereas the consumption of fishes increased. Fishes accounted for almost (86%) stomach contents of larger individuals (more than 35 cm TL).

  • We investigated the biological maturation of blackthroat seaperch Doederleinia berycoides in southern Korea waters, based on samples collected from March 2018 to February 2019. We analyzed monthly changes in maturity stage, gonadosomatic index (GSI) and total length (TL) at 50%, 75% and 97.5% group maturity. The spawning period was May to October in 2018. We estimated the TL at 50% group maturity as 27.0 cm for females in 2018. We estimated the TL of females at 75% and 97.5% group maturity as 28.7 cm and 32.7 cm, respectively, in 2018.

  • The feeding habits of the blackthroat seaperch Doederleinia berycoides were studied using 650 specimens collected in the Southern Sea of Korea, from January to December, 2005. The size (standard length, SL) of the specimens ranged from 6.3 to 35.2 cm. D. berycoides is a piscivore that consumes mainly teleosts such as Engraulis japonicus, Acropoma japonicum, and Myctophum nitidulum. Of the fish species Engraulis japonicus was the preferred prey. D. berycoides also eats small quantities of shrimps, amphipods, euphausiids, mysids, and crabs. D. berycoides showed ontogenetic changes in its feeding habits. Smaller individuals (5-10 cm SL) fed mainly on shrimp. The proportion of shrimp decreased with increasing fish size, and this decrease paralleled the increased consumption of fish. Fish accounted for almost all of the stomach contents of individuals larger than 15 cm SL. Cluster analysis based on the percentage dry weight (%DW) identified two size groups: group A (<15 cm SL) consumed primarily shrimp and fish; and group B (15< cm SL) preyed exclusively on fish. There was little seasonal change in the diet of D. berycoides, but shrimp constituted 41.8% of the summer diet in %W.

  • We investigated the population ecology of blackthroat seaperch, Doederleinia berycoides, from samples collected in the southern seas of Korea from January to December, 2006. Population ecological parameters included survival rate, the instantaneous coefficient of natural and fishing mortality, and age at first capture. The survival rate (S) of blackthroat seaperch was estimated as 0.4966 using the catch curve method. The instantaneous coefficient of total mortality (Z) was 0.8598/year. The instantaneous coefficient of natural mortality (M) was estimated as 0.4694/year. From the estimates of Z and M, the instantaneous coefficient of fishing mortality (F) was calculated as 0.3904/year. The age at first capture ($t_c$), based on the Pauly method, was 2.87 years.

  • The age and growth of the blackthroat seaperch Doederleinia berycoides was investigated based on samples captured in the southern seas of Korea from January to December, 2006. Age was estimated by analyzing otolith growth rings. The spawning period was extrapolated from August to November based on monthly changes in the gonad somatic index. The relationship between total length and otolith radius was analyzed separately for each sex with TL=-15.6174+10.3274R for females and TL=-4.4083+7.0749R for males. From the parameters calculated using average total length and weight when the year ring was formed, the growth of D. berycoides was expressed by von Bertalanffy growth equations as $L_t=34.71(1-e^{-0.2557(t+0.2078)})$, $W_t=713.85(1-e^{-0.2557(t+0.2078)})^{3.1972}$ for females, $L_t=27.37(1-e^{-0.3388(t+0.7362)})$, $W_t=353.91(1-e^{-0.3388(t+0.7362)})^{3.1647}$ for males, and $L_t=34.20(1-e^{-0.2530(t+0.2871)})$, $W_t=674.10(1-e^{-0.2530(t+0.2871)})^{3.1171}$ for pooled sexes, where L is total length at age t.

  • 눈볼대는 중, 대형 외끌이 어업을 비롯한 기선저인망어업에 어획되는 대표적인 어종으로 생산금액 증가와 어획량, 수산식품 선호도를 보았을 때, 상업적인 가치는 더욱 높아질 것으로 판단된다. 해양생태계가 변화하고 있지만, 눈볼대 섭식생태에 관한 선행연구는 2004년부터 2008년까지 채집된 개체들을 대상으로 수행이 되어 추가 연구수행이 필요하다. 남해에서 저층트롤어업으로 채집된 눈볼대 701개체의 전장범위는 3.3~33.1 cm로 나타났으며, 공복률은 78.3%였다. 눈볼대의 주먹이생물은 어류였으며, 어류 중에서도 멸치가 가장 우점하였다. 눈볼대는 성장함에 따라 단각류, 새우류와 같은 갑각류에서 어류로 먹이생물의 전환이 이루어지는 것으로 관찰되었다. 먹이 섭식 특성의 경우, 개체당 먹이생물의 평균 중량 (mW/ST)은 성장함에 따라 지속적으로 증가했고, 평균 먹이생물의 개체수(mN/ST)는 감소하다가 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 영양단계의 범위는 3.31±0.52~3.79±0.70으로 나타났으며, 평균 영양단계는 3.62±0.64로 나타났다.

트롤 탈출장치의 개발에 관한 연구 (Study on the development of trawl escapement device)

  • The aim of this study was to develop a trawl escapement device which can improve the survival rate of young fishes passed through trawl codend. The sea experiments according to the bar space of the device and bar materials were carried out to decide the bar space and device materials in Korean southern sea and off Cheju island. Stainless pipes and MC bars were used to test the efficiency of escapement device materials. Although escapement rates of MC bar for main species were a little higher compare with stainless pipe, the efficiency of device for stainless pipe was better than MC bar. Escapement devices of sort-K type and grid panel type were also compared. Escapement rates of redlip croaker(Pseudosciaena polyactis), blackthroat seaperch(Doederleinia berycoides) and finespotted flounder (Pleuronichthys cornutus) showed 61.7%, 2.0% and 2.7% on the sort-x type and 69.9%, 1.1% and 2.0% for the grid panel type but the difference was little. Fishes under 20mm head width and fishes which swimming speed is so slow compared with body length could not go through well the device. Escapement rates according to the bar space were estimated using grid panel type. The rates of redlip croaker(Pseudosciaena polyactis) for the bar space of 20mm, 25mm, 35mm were increased as 60.3%, 61.0% and 77.8%, and 9.8%, 16.4% and 45.6% for horse mackere1(Trachurus japonicus), respectively.
