  • "Anmadang" of traditional Korean house is an empty space, surrounded by buildings shaped like the letter, ‘ㅁ’.‘ㅁ’shaped traditional Korean house provides much more comfortable outdoor space for various activities than ‘ㅡ’shaped traditional Korean house. In this paper it has been tried to analyse the dry bulb temperature condition of indoor and outdoor space through measurement of dry bulb temperature in Anmadang, Maru and outdoor space. This paper also analyses the correlation of dry bulb temperature between Anmadang and outdoor space with seasonal variations in traditional Korean houses.

  • The zone of greenhouse in Korea increase on a scale yearly. Particularly, greenhouse take up a important value on the agriculture economy. Greenhouse of scale, material, heating system, and drain is progressing to industrialization. The dry bulb temperature, humidity, photosynthesis and so forth are necessary to maintain environment control of greenhouse. The dry bulb temperature among them greatly affects growing of a plant. The purpose of this study is to analyzed the indoor environment control system and the characteristic of dry bulb temperature distribution on a large scale greenhouse in summer season.

  • The universality of the pseudo wet bulb temperature has been established in the drying of macroporous inerts, microporous inerts, and microporous swellable materials using water and methyl alcohol as the liquids. The pseudo wet bulb temperature is a new constant temperature intermediate between the wet bulb and dry bulb temperatures of the air during the second falling rate period. This temperature is calculated from consideration of the heat transfer to, and vapor diffusion from, liquid evaporating at the liquid-air boundary. The experimental results agree with that calculated from the equation proposed by Nissan, Bolles and George.

  • The present work proposed a newly developed fluidized bed-type psychrometer that could be applicable to the high temperature and contaminant gases. The psychrometer is a device that test gas passes through the water in a glass bottle as a bubbly flow to obtain the adiabatic saturation temperature. A fluidized bed-type psychrometer was made and its characteristics were compared with the Assmann Psychrometer. The characteristic time was in the order of a hundred seconds, and decreased for the decrease of the mass of water and the increase of the air flow rate. The air flow rate and the insulation of the glass bottle were definitely important in the accurate measurement of the wet bulb temperature. The error in wet bulb temperature became less than 5 percent of the difference of dry and wet bulb temperatures if the air velocity in the glass bottle was greater than 1.5m/s.

  • Purpose: In this study, we examined outdoor air fraction using historical data of actual Air Handling Unit (AHU) in the existing building during intermediate season and analyzed optimal outdoor air fraction by control types for economizer. Method: Control types for economizer which was used in analysis are No Economizer(NE), Differential Dry-bulb Temperature(DT), Diffrential Enthalpy(DE), Differential Dry-bulb Temperature+Differential Enthalpy(DTDE), and Differential Enthalpy+Differential Dry-bulb Temperature (DEDT). In addition, the system heating and cooling load were analyzed by calculating the outdoor air fraction through existing AHU operating method and control types for economizer. Result: Optimized outdoor air fraction through control types was the lowest in March and distribution over 50% was shown in May. In case of DE control type, outdoor air fraction was the highest of other control types and the value was average 63% in May. System heating load was shown the lowest value in NE, however, system cooling load was shown 1.7 times higher than DT control type and 5 times higher than DE control type. For system heating load, DT and DTDE is similar during intermediate season. However, system cooling load was shown 3 times higher than DE and DEDT. Accordingly, it was found as the method to save cooling energy most efficiently with DE control considering enthalpy of outdoor air and return air in intermediate season.

  • Cooked spaghetti soaked in 10%, 20%, and 40% aqueous glycerine solutions for ten minutes absorbed sufficient glycerine to plasticize that spaghetti during and after subsequent drying. The plasticizing action of the glycerine prevented fissuring(checking) and surface corrugation of the spaghetti at elevated drying temperature and large wet-bulb dry-bulb temperature difference. The drying temperature and the wet-bulb dry-bulb differences up to which such protection was provided as the glycerine soak concentration increased. Despite the reduction in drying rate, the drying time required to produce spaghetti with a water activity of 0.65 (the level normally required for stability) decreased as glycerine content increased. At high frying temperatures glycerine addition increased the extent of browning and shortened the period required to induce detectale browning, but in all instances browning started well after the product $a_w$ reached the 0.65 value required for the completion of drying. Because glycerine addition reduced drying times at any given set of drying conditions and permitted the use of higher drying temperatures, relatively low levels of glycerine addition (e.g. 0.15 kg glycerine/kg dry spagetti) can shorten spagnetti drying times by roughly 80% and perhaps by as much as 93%.

  • In this study, the thermal environmental factors in a layer f(arm such as dry bulb temperature, relative humidity, black globe temperature and illumination intensity were measured and analyzed to serve as basis for effective design and plan of poultry houses. The correlation analysis between the different factors was also done. Heat Index as measure of the thermal stress was also calculated and analyzed. A $1,000m^2$ laying house, 4 meters high with 52,000 layers in six-stage type cages was used in the measurement of the different environmental parameters. The results were as follows; 1. The temperature of the inside air and materials was directly related to the increase in aerial temperature based on the dry-bulb, black globe temperature reading. The correlation factor of the outside to inside air based on dry bulb setting was very significant at 0.927 The dry bulb temperature for inside temperature ranged from $19.9\~28.8^{\circ}C\;with\;SD+2.2^{\circ}C$ while that of the outside air was $16.2\~33.1^{\circ}C,\;SD+3.5^{\circ}C$. In addition, the temperature of the inside air was very stable. 2. The black globe temperature of the inside air ranged from $20.1\~28.8^{\circ}C,\;SD+2.3^{\circ}C$ while that of the outside air was $16.2\~47.5^{\circ}C,\;SD+6.0^{\circ}C$. 3. The relative humidity of the outside and inside air was $72.4\~100\;and\;50.2\~85.6\%$ with an average of $89.2\;and\;71.7\%$, respectively. 4. The illumination intensity in the laying house was less than 7 lux, with an average of $1.2\~2.5lux$ relative to height indicating that the laying house was well isolated from outside radiation. 5. The heat index of the inside air of the laying house had a high variation from $20.5^{\circ}C,\;SD+2.5^{\circ}C$ while that of the outside air was $13.1\~45.5^{\circ}C$, with an average of $21.6^{\circ}C,\;SD+6.3^{\circ}C$.

  • An experimental study was conducted to analyze the characteristics of the showcase refrigeration system during frosting and defrosting process. Test showcase was constructed with a cooling capacity of 3RT including 3 evaporators. The dynamic characteristics of the system under frosting and defrosting conditions were investigated. Refrigerant temperature and pressure of the system, dry bulb and wet bulb temperature of air passing through the evaporator, air flow rate and compressor power were measured.

  • Factors governing the rate of heat exchange comprise temperature, air velocity, relative humidity, and relation indoors. Recently, there are many researches on the transient analysis of indoor environmental factors such as dry bulb temperature, relative humidity and air velocity in miniature models. The purpose of this study is to measure the environmental factors and to analyze and evaluate the characteristics of indoor environment in different envelop structures using granite dome models. The interior relative humidity is constant regardless of exterior humidity although a little range of variation is shown in comparison to the cement model.
