  • In this study, we attempted in preparing high precision EEG measuring equipment. To measure EEG in high efficiency, pre-amplifier should get high performance common mode rejection ratio. Also, separation amplifier is essential to eliminate common line noise. So, our study were pointed at elevating the efficiency of eliminating noise, user safety and low noise characteristics. Prepared high precision pre-amplifier for EEG was A/D converted to automatically classify $\alpha$ wave, $\beta$ wave and $\theta$ wave. And converted data were Fast Fourier Transformed with real time DSP (Digital Signal Processing). Clinical demonstrations were carried out with healthy students, aged between 20 to 26 who has no histories of illness. To recognize the efficiency of the EEG, prepared EEG were used with MS equipment in low stimulated state and high stimulated state. Then, we studied at the effect of sensitivity on brain wave. From this study, it is known that our EEG equipment is efficient in sensitivity evaluation and suitable stimulations for each psychological state are required.

  • This research measures EEG signals which are generating on head skin and extracts brain concentration level related with brain activity. We have developed concentration wireless transmission system by displaying this EEG signal on PDA mobile device. The front head was used for measuring EEG signal and INA128 with TL084 and analog elements was used for measuring EEG signal, amplifying and filtering the signal. Measured analog EEG signals changed into digital signals by using ADC of PIC24FJ192 with 10bit resolution and 500Ks/s sampling rate. So The changed digital signals have transmitted to the PDA by using bluetooth. LabView 8.5 was also used for FFT transformation, frequency and spectrum analysis of the transferred EEG signal. As a result, $\alpha$ wave, $\beta$ wave, $\theta$ wave and $\delta$ wave were classified. we extracted the concentration index by adapting concentration extraction algorithm. This concentration index was transferred into PDA by wireless module and displaying.

  • Electroencephalography(EEG) studies that have been in clinical research since the discovery of brainwave have recently been developed into brain-computer interface studies. Currently, research is underway to manipulate robot arms and drones by analyzing brainwave. However, resolution and reliability of EEG information is still limited. Therefore, it is required to develop various technologies necessary for measuring and interpreting brainwave more accurately. Pioneering new applications with these technologies is also important. In this paper, we propose development of a personal authentication system fit for lifecaretainment based on EEG. The proposed system guarantees the resolution and reliability of EEG information by using the Electrooculogram and Electromyogram(EMG) together with EEG.

  • Recently, biometric technology has begun to be used as a fusion of IT technology and financial system. Using this biometric technology, FIDO(Fast Identity Online) technology, Samsung and Apple started Samsung Pay and Apple Pay service. FIDO authentication technology replaces existing authentication methods such as passwords. Among the biometric technologies, fingerprint recognition technology is attracting attention because it can minimize the device and user rejection at a relatively low price. However, fingerprint information has a limited number of users and it can not be reused if fingerprint information is leaked by an external attacker. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a method to authenticate a user using EEG signal which is one of biometrics technologies. W propose a method to use EEG signal measurement value in FIDO system by using convenience channel by using short channel EEG device. And propose a method to utilize EEG signal when the user recognizes a specific entity by measuring the EEG signal before and after recognizing a specific entity.

  • For measuring EEG with the international 10-20 electrode system on 16 channels, and to analyze the interrelationship between the original signals and the changed signals after the stimulation, we use the scent of lavender which stimulates the olfactory sense. Moreover, the effect of the scent stimulation to the brain is analyzed. The purpose of this analysis is to apply these results to the computerized mapping of the brain signals and to find possible ways of specifying the source of the brain signals through various medical applications.

  • When we want to observe and record a patient's EEG in an operating room, the operation of electrosurgical unit(ESU) causes undesirable artifacts with high frequency and high voltage. These artifacts make the amplifiers of the conventional EEG system saturated and prevent the system from measuring the EEG signal. This paper describes a high-performance bipolar EEG amplifier for a CSA (compressed spectral array ) system with reduced ESU artifacts. The designed EEG amplifier uses a balanced filter to reduce the ESU artifacts, and isolates the power supply and the signal source of the preamplifier from the ground to cut off the current from the ESU to the amplifier ground. To cancel the common mode noise in high frequency, a high CMRR(common mode rejection ratio) diffferential amplifier is used. Since the developed bipolar EEG amplifier shows high gain, low noise, high CMRR, high input impedance, and low thermal drift, it is possible to observe and record more clean EEG signals in spite of ESU operation. Therefore the amplifier may be applicable to a high-fidelity CSA system.

  • With Brain Computer Interface (BCI) system, a person with disabled limb could use this direct brain signal like electroencephalography (EEG) to control a device such as the artifact arm. The precise force control for the artifact arm is necessary for this artificial limb system. To understand the relationship between control EEG signal and the gripping force of hands, We proposed a study by measuring EEG changes of three grades (25%, 50%, 75%) of hand grip MVC (Maximal Voluntary Contract). The acquired EEG signal was filtered to obtain power of three wave bands (alpha, beta, gamma) by using fast fourier transformation (FFT) and computed power spectrum. Then the power spectrum of three bands (alpha, beta and gamma) of three classes (MVC 25%, 50%, 75%) was classified by using PCA (Principal Component Analysis) and LDA (Linear Discriminant Analysis). The result showed that the power spectrum of EEG is increased at MVC 75% more than MVC 25%, and the correct classification rate was 52.03% for left hand and 77.7% for right hand.

  • In the cause of car accidents in Korea, drowsy driving has shown that it is larger fctors than drunk driving. Therefore, in order to prevent drowsy driving accidents, drowsiness detection and warning system for drivers has recently become a very important issue. Furthermore, Many researches have been published that measuring alpha wave of EEG signals is the effective way in order to be aware of drowsiness of drivers. In this study, we have developed EEG measuring device that applies a signal processing algorithm using the LabView program for detecting drowsiness. According to results of drowsiness inducement experiments for small test subjects, it was able to detect the pattern of EEG, which means drowsy state based on the changing of power spectrum, counterpart of alpha wave. After all, Comparing to the results of drowsiness pattern between commercial equipments and developed device, we could confirm acquiring similar pattern to drowsiness pattern. With this results, the driver's drowsiness prevention system expect that it will be able to contribute to lowering the death rate caused by drowsy driving accidents.
