  • In this study, the theoretical investigation of the electrically heated catalyst(EHC) for vehicle application has been carried out using the thermal equivalence of EHC system and the data of vehicle tests to meet ultra low emission vehicle(ULEV) standard. To improve the efficiency of EHC system, it is necessary to understand relation between the power, the operating time and the conversion efficiency of EHC system. The relation was found with thermal equivalence of EHC system which considers the power supply to EHC, heat loss, chemical exothermic energy generated by oxidation reaction and net energy coming in via the exhaust gas. From this relation, the limits of needful power and operating time to meet the ULEV standard can be suggested, when the conversion efficiency of catalyst was known.

Effect of Artificially Decreased Visual Acuity upon Eye-Hand Coordination using Lee-Ryan Eye-Hand Coordination Test (Lee-Ryan Eye-Hand Coordination Test를 이용한 인위적 시력저하가 눈-손 협응능력에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to explore the effect of artificially decreased eye in normal vision on eye-hand coordination (EHC) when using the Lee-Ryan Eye-Hand Coordination Test recently reported. Methods: Eleven adults with normal vision aged $29.46{\pm}5.94$ years participated for this study where a non-dominant eye artificially induced moderate refractive amblyopic vision at near by adding a plus lens conducted EHC tasks and then did the test again under normal vision following 2 weeks. To investigate the ability of EHC, 7 tasks including individually different level of difficulty in the Lee-Ryan EHC Test were selected to compare and analyze EHC in terms of two independent variables such as time taken and the number of errors. Results: In time taken, subjects with artificially decreased vision took more time than normal vision under monocular conditions (p=0.013), while those with the decreased vision completed their tasks faster than normal vision under binocular conditions (p=0.001). In the number of errors, subjects with the decreased vision made more mistakes (p<0.001) as shown in time taken, whereas there was no difference between monocular and binocular viewing conditions in the decreased vision. Conclusions: Unlike previous EHC tests including limitations for application, deficit in EHC can be screened by the Lee-Ryan EHC Test developed based on simple computer-based system. Therefore, it is considered that further studies relevant to deficits in visual function such as amblyopia will be carried out in clinics as well as research.

  • In upcoming Post Stage-V and Tier 5 regulations of construction machineries, nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions are strictly limited in cold start conditions. In response to this, a method of improving NOx conversion efficiency has been applied by installing an electric heating catalyst (EHC) in front of conventional urea-SCR systems so that the evaporation and thermal decomposition of urea-water solution can be promoted in cold start conditions. In this strategy, the evaporation and thermal decomposition of urea-water solution and corresponding NOx conversion efficiency are governed by temperature conditions inside the EHC. Therefore, characterizing the temperature distribution in the EHC under various operating conditions is crucial for the optimized operation and control of the EHC in Urea-SCR systems. In this study, a 1-D modeling analysis was performed to predict the heater surface temperature distribution in EHC under various operating conditions. The reliability of prediction results was verified by comparing them with measurement results obtained using an infrared (IR) camera. Based on 1-D analysis results, the effects of various EHC operation parameters on the heater surface temperature distribution were analyzed and discussed.

  • We studied the interaction of 3,3',3'',3'''-ethylenetetrakis-4-hydroxycoumarin (EHC) with bovine serum albumin (BSA) in acetate buffer and phosphate buffer with different pH values by UV-vis absorption spectrometry and fluorescence spectrometry respectively. It was found that the pH values of the buffer solutions had an effect on the interaction process. In acetate buffer of pH 4.70, the carbonyl groups in EHC bound to the amino groups in BSA by means of hydrogen bond and van der Waals force, which made the extent of peptide chain in BSA changed. By contrast, in phosphate buffer of pH 7.40, hydrophobic force played a major role in the interaction between EHC and BSA, while the hydrogen bond and van der Waals force were also involved in the interaction. The results of spectrometry indicated that BSA could enhance the fluorescence intensity of EHC by forming a 1:1 EHC-BSA fluorescent complex through static mechanism at pH 4.70 and 7.40 respectively. Furthermore, EHC bound on site 1 in BSA.

  • Nowadays the trend has been changed from MHC through EHC to D-EHC in turbine control system. But many plants aren't being operated by D-EHC System. We are trying to retrofit one of the EHC to D-EHC system. In this paper, we are going to introduce an overview of the control logics from turbine prewarming to synchronization of small and medium size power plants, respectively.

  • 아날로그 EHC시스템이 도입된 이래 터빈 제어 시스템에서 속도와 부하 제어의 기본 기능은 크게 변화하지 않았다. 그러나 감시, 운용 등에 대한 요구가 복잡다양해지고 자동기동 등에 대한 요구가 증가함에 따라 보다 유연한 제어 시스템이 요구되고 있다. 게다가 기존의 기저부하를 담당하던 발전소들도 점차 변동부하를 담당할 필요가 생겼고 이를 위해서 터빈 제어시스템은 여러가지 다른 동작점에서도 운용할 수 있게 개수될 필요가 생겼다. 이는 또 터빈제어 시스템이 보일러 혹은 발전소의 다른 부분과 협조 운전을 할 수 있는 기능의 구비를 요구하였다. 이러한 여러가지 요구점들은 최근의 마이크로프로세서 기술에 의한 D-EHC 시스템으로 대부분 해결 가능한 것들이다, 앞에서 언급한 D-EHC의 여러가지 장점은 다양하고 복잡한 기능을 처리할 수 있는 터빈 제어시스템에 대한 요구를 충족시킬 것으로 있다는 점에서 D-EHC 시스템의 도입을 촉진시킬 것으로 보여진다. 게다가 아날로그 전자 장치에 대한 기술적 축적도가 디지탈 시스템에 대한 기술적 축적도에 비해 상대적으로 미흡한 우리나라의 실정을 생각할 때 D-EHC 시스템으로의 전환은 발전제어 시스템의 국산화에도 한결 유리하고 쉬운 길을 제공하리라고 생각된다.

  • 본 논문에서는 휴우리스틱 자원 시간 계획을 위한 새로운 탐색 알고리즘인 Strictly Enforced Hill-Climbing (SEHC)을 제안한다. 이 탐색 알고리즘은 FF 등의 계획기에 적용되어 매우 높은 효율성을 보인 Enforced Hill-Climbing (EHC)을 확장한 것이다. EHC는 목표를 찾아가는 과정 동안 매번 현재 상태에서 그 상태보다 더 낮은 휴우리스틱 값을 갖는 첫 번째 후손 상태를 찾아 넓이 우선 탐색을 펼치는 데 반해, 본 논문에서 제안하는 SEHC는 찾아진 첫 번째 후손 상태와 같은 깊이의 나머지 형제 상태들까지 탐색을 연장하여 최소의 휴우리스틱 값을 갖는 후손 상태를 찾아낸다. 이와 같은 SEHC 탐색방법은 매 주기마다 소량의 추가 탐색을 통해 탐색의 전체과정 동안 EHC 보다 우수한 탐색경로를 유지할 수 있도록 해준다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 영역의 계획문제를 대상으로 A* 알고리즘, EHC 알고리즘 등과의 비교실험을 통해 SEHC 알고리즘의 우수성을 알아본다.

A Heuristic Search Planner Based on Component Services (컴포넌트 서비스 기반의 휴리스틱 탐색 계획기)

  • Nowadays, one of the important functionalities required from robot task planners is to generate plans to compose existing component services into a new service. In this paper, we introduce the design and implementation of a heuristic search planner, JPLAN, as a kernel module for component service composition. JPLAN uses a local search algorithm and planning graph heuristics. The local search algorithm, EHC+, is an extended version of the Enforced Hill-Climbing(EHC) which have shown high efficiency applied in state-space planners including FF. It requires some amount of additional local search, but it is expected to reduce overall amount of search to arrive at a goal state and get shorter plans. We also present some effective heuristic extraction methods which are necessarily needed for search on a large state-space. The heuristic extraction methods utilize planning graphs that have been first used for plan generation in Graphplan. We introduce some planning graph heuristics and then analyze their effects on plan generation through experiments.

Ecotoxicological Test on Various Industrial Effluent Using Mayfly Egg, Ephemera orientalis (동양하루살이 알을 이용한 산업폐수 생태독성평가)

  • We developed a new ecotoxicological test method using native test species, eggs of Ephemera orientalis, and five kinds of industrial wastewater were tested to validate the test method. The water samples were collected in Jun 2006 from the following industries: pesticide, metal plating, PCB, leather1, and leather2. Wastewater and effluent were diluted by distilled water, respectively, to prepare various concentrations, 100, 50, 25, 12.5, 6.3, 3.1, and 0%. For the egg bioassay, 20 freshly laid eggs (<24 h old) were exposed to test solutions in a Petri dish ($52{\times}12mm$) at $20^{\circ}C$ with photoperiod of 16 h light and 8 h dark for 14 days. The median egg hatching concentrations (EHC50) were estimated using Probit analysis. All EHC50s of wastewater were less than 3.1%, which meant very high ecotoxicity except for the wastewater of PCB industry having 6.1% of EHC50. Among the effluents, the least toxic effluent was from pesticide industry having 58% of EHC50, while the effluent of leather2 was the most toxic having 7.3% of EHC50.

  • In a power plant, it is generally accepted that a turbine governor system is necessary to control amount of steam supply toward the turbine system. There are many kinds of trouble at this governor system, which is recognized one of the most sensitive systems in the power plant. Especially we have experienced the internal leakage of motorization oil of servo valve. In the study, we investigated the mechanism of an internal leakage such as erosion by foreign materials and corrosion by chemical reaction between chloric healed oil and motorization oil. A precautionary measures is also performed to help the field service engineers.
