  • As the industrial technology is getting higher, the pulsed power technology is required from various fields such as thermonuclear fusion energy sources, military applications, electric power distribution, and a variety of new specialized needs. This technology deals with the generation of very high power electromagnetic pulses through fast switching. We fabricated a pulsed power generator, named EMD pulse generator, by using Marx circuit with 200 kV high, 50 ns fast rise time. In this paper, we described about an effect of stray capacitance of coaxial Marx generator, EPG-AM200k, and a comparing the results of experiments and circuit analysis.

  • A pilot-scale pulse-jet bagfilter was designed, built and tested for the effects of four operating conditions (filtration velocity, inlet dust concentration, pulse pressure, and pulse interval time) on the total system pressure drop, using coke dust from a steel mill factory. Two models were used to predict the total pressure drop according to the operating conditions. These model parameters were estimated from the 180 experimental data points. The empirical model (EM) with filtration velocity, areal density, inlet dust concentration, pulse interval time and pulse pressure shows the best correlation coefficient (R=0.971) between experimental data and model predictions. The empirical model was used as it showed higher correlation coefficient (R=0.971) compared to that of the Multivariate linear regression(MLR) (R=0.961). The minimum pulse pressure predicted by empirical model (EM) was 5kg/$cm^2$.

  • Ultra wide band electromagnetic energy can be transmitted to a far field by emitting the nanoseconds high voltage pulse electromagnetic energy via an antenna. This UWB EM energy is expected to be used in post-packing pasteurization of food, detection of buried objects or underground water veins and caves and the treatment of waste water or polluted gas. The nanoseconds pulse forming for UWB generation using high voltage blumlein line and an ultrafast switch is mentioned.

  • In order to improve engine performance while overcoming the weak points of Pulse and MPC(Modular Pulse Converter) turbocharging system, a new turbocharging system. "Hi-Pulse system", has been introduced and developed for medium speed diesel engine. HYUNDAI HiMSEN engines. Hi-Pulse system is to utilize not only the benefits of MPC system at higher load but also the ones of Pulse system at lower load. As for the results. the specific fuel oil consumption and NOx emission were lowered compared with the Pulse and MPC system. Performance simulation were carried out to optimize intake and exhaust timing and exhaust duct arrangement and to improve the performance of Hi-Pulse system engine.em engine.

  • From the dispersion relation of an electromagnetic (EM) wave propagating through plasmas, w$\^$2/ = w$\sub$p/$\^$2/+c$\^$2/k$\^$2/ the phase velocity (w/k) of the wave is large at high density where w$\sub$p/ is large, and small at low density Therefore, when a laser pulse is located on a downward density gradient of a plasma wave, the phase velocity of the back of the pulse becomes faster than that of the front of the pulse and the pulse wavelength decreases. • In this paper, a numerical method for analyzing coupling between high-altitude electromagnetic pulse (HEMP) as external field and a shielded twisted pair (STP) cable is proposed, which is based on an expanded chain matrix. Load responses of electromagnetic (EM) field excitation in uniform transmission line (TL) are solved by Baum-Liu-Tesche (BLT) equations in frequency domain, however, it is difficult to apply BLT equations to solve load responses of STP cable because the iteratively changing configuration of each twisted pairs are involved in cable. To avoid this problem and decrease memory and CPU time, we proposed the expanded chain matrix modeling method that is calculated using ABCD parameters, and applied multi-conductor transmission line (MTL) theory to consider the EMP coupling effectiveness of each twisted pairs. The results implemented by the proposed method are presented and compared with those obtained by the finite-difference time domain (FDTD) method as a kind of 3D full wave analysis.

  • The pulse detonation engine (PDE) has recently expected as a new aerospace propulsion system. The PDE system has high thermal efficiency because of its constant-volume combustion and its simple tube structure. We measured thrust of single-tube pulse detonation rocket (PDR) by two methods using the PDR-Engineering Model (full scale model) for ground testing. The first involved measuring the displacement of the PDR-EM by laser displacement meter, and the second involved measuring the time-averaged thrust by combining a load cell and a spring-damper system. From these two measurements, we obtained 130.1 N of time-averaged thrust, which corresponds to 321.2 sec of effective specific impulse (ISP). As well, we measured the heat flux in the wall of PDE tubes. The heat flux was approximately 400 ㎾/$m^2$. We constructed the PDR-Flight Mode] (PDR-FM). In the vertical flight test in a laboratory, the PDR-FM was flying and keeping its altitude almost constant during 0.3 sec.

  • In this paper, we present electromagnetic modeling to design unclonable PUFs with frequency-dependant materials corresponding to Debye dispersion. To demonstrate FDTD calculations consider that 1-D problem of pulsed plane wave traveling in free space normally incident on air-silicon material interface. The pulse traveling wave at a vacuum-medium interface were reflected, and transmitted wave were dissipated. As a result, 1-D PUF with Debye dispersion material structure can be applied and FDTD calculation for PUF modeling is a good approximation.
