  • Many plans of ecologic streams are developed and performed in several regions. In spite of obtaining of instream water is most important problem to composite an ecologic stream, assessment methods for instream water are too various to estimate an optimal result. This study shows practical assessment method which add regional needs such as stream view and necessary water quality level to the traditional method considering water shortage, water quality, ecologic system and necessary flows. It also shows a feasibility of instream water obtaining project in Daejeon city.

  • At the current of the time, the ecologic stream is the most important concern of all the country. Daejeon metropolitan city performing the plan to secure the Daejeon cheon (stream) instream water as the 1st stage of the ecologic stream development plan for the Daejeon 3 main stream. During the performing the plan to secure the Daejeon cheon (stream) instream water, the water sources are decided to supply from Yudeng cheon and Daecheong Dam by the various water sources evaluation. For the investigation of flow and quality of instream water, I applicate the HEC-RAS and QUAL2EU. Instream water is proposed as the $10{\sim}30cm$ water depth and 2 degree water quality (lower the BOD 2.0 ppm) by the report of city. It is reasonable to the water depth objective, but the water quality objective is not reasonable because of the seasonal quality changes of supplied water. I suggest that the basin management plan include the non-point source elimination must comprised to the Daejeon ecologic stream project.

  • The current environmental issue is how a dwelling adapts into a given climate in which the design is applied by ecology without damaging the natural environment. In another word, the main issue in the twenty first century will be how we meet the human needs to dwellings applied by the residential environment. Therefore, we have to provide a hospitable place for residents' mental and physical health through "Green Design," emerging as the critical design of urban collective dwellings. Based on these conceptions, the purpose of this study is to suggest the way of designing the urban collective dwelling applied by ecology, proffering wealthy life style to residents with the preservation of natural environment as applying an ecological concept into the design of collective dwellings that represent a contemporary housing type for urban residents. In order to design the urban collective dwelling applied by ecology, this study introduces the outdoor design in friendly surroundings, the collective construct of a delightful housing, and the organic connection between inside and outside rooms.

  • The past concept of constructing houses was focused on how to overcome the limitation of consuming natural resources such as energy and materials, which increased the official cost and the environmental pollution. On the other hand, the echo-friendly concept has considered the harmony between human being and nature more critically and has applied the characteristics of natural environment into a unique dwelling design by developing constructs and materials adjusted to the particular climate, making them into a unit of impacting positively the complicated system. The current environmental issue is how a dwelling adapts into a given climate in which the design is applied by ecology without damaging the natural environment. In another word, the main issue in the twenty first century will be how we meet the human needs to dwellings applied by the residential environment. • In this study, we examined the flux of carbon and water using an eco-hydrological model, Regional Hydro-Ecologic Simulation System (RHESSys). Our purposes were to develop a set of parameters optimized for a well-designed experimental watershed (Gwangneung Research Watershed, GN) and then, to test suitability of the parameters for predicting carbon and water fluxes of other watershed with different regimes of climate, topography, and vegetation structure (i.e Gangseonry Watershed in Mt. Jumbong, GS). Field datasets of stream flow, soil water content (SWC), and wood biomass product (WBP) were utilized for model parameterization and validation. After laborious parameterization processes, RHESSys was validated with the field observations from the GN watershed. The parameter set identified at the GN watershed was then applied to the GS watershed in Mt. Jumbong, which resulted in good agreement for SWC but poor predictability for WBP. Our study showed that RHESSys simulated reliable SWC at the GS by adjusting site-specific porosity only. In contrast, vegetation productivity would require more rigorous site-specific parameterization and hence, further study is necessary to identify primary field ecophysiological variables for enhancing model parameterization and application to multiple watersheds.

  • This study aims to investigate determinants that included personal values, pro-environmental beliefs, and proenvironmental norms for enhancing consumers' purchase intention of eco-friendly outdoor wear exploring Stern(2000)’s the value-belief-norm theory. A survey was conducted with females and males between the ages of 20 and 60 who have experienced buying outdoor wear products. A total of 300 responses were analyzed by descriptive analysis, factor analysis, a reliability test, an independent samples t-test, and regression analysis. The results of this study were as follows: 1) The results of exploratory factor analysis and reliability test on the personal value clearly showed factorial structures including the social power, ecologic value, openness, equality, and altruistic value. 2) There are significant differences in personal value sub-dimensions, pro-environmental beliefs, pro-environmental norm, and purchase intention of eco-friendly outdoor wear products according to respondents' gender and age. 3) Personal values, but not social power, affect pro-environmental beliefs; in turn, pro-environmental beliefs affect pro-environmental norms, which then affects purchase intentions of eco-friendly outdoor wear. The findings support the conclusion that there is significant causality among personal value such as ecologic, openness, equality, and altruistic, pro-environmental belief, and pro-environmental norm. This study suggests pragmatic implications to understand outdoor wear consumers' socio-psychological and demographic factors and to augment purchase intentions of eco-friendly outdoor wear products.

  • If human body is exposed to the continuous stress, it becomes allostasis load which is the condition of homeostasis broken. Its evolutional ecologic point of view and the relation with chiljeongsnag which is a theory in Oriental Medicine were investigated. Upon evolutional ecologic point of view by Maynard Smith, people can be divided by Hawks and Doves resulting in different types of allostasis in response of the stress. Hawks people who are active and aggressive get easily anger in the stressful situation to be vulnerable to the inflammatory hepatic diseases by enhancing Th1 immune system. On the other hand, Doves people who are passive and calm get easily depressed with sadness in the stressful situation to be vulnerable to the allergic pulmonary diseases by enhancing Th2 immune system. According to constitution theory of Oriental Medicine, Yangin and Eumin show the different features of responses to the stress generating Chiljeongsang. With excessive stress continuously, Yangin consider the feeling of anger mainly resulting in Qi reversal and liver damage, while Eumin consider the feeling of sadness mainly in consumption of Qi and lung damage. Hawks and Yangin, and Doves and Eumin show the common behaviors in response to the stress demonstrating the similar features including allostasis load and Chiljeongsang. In the clinical practices with the stressful patients, the viewpoint to consider the behaviors and feelings of the subjects to receive the stress simultaneously can be the new approaching method in Psychosomatic Medicine.

  • The quality of the environment, both natural and man-made, has unlimited influence on people's behavior and their physical and psychological well being. Interior designers shaped the indoor environment in which people live, work, perform day-to-day tasks and rest. Since designers affect a society's sensitivity and thinking, the aesthetics and ethics of the designs must respond to the most burning environmental issues of the contemporary world. This awareness is especially important now, at this critical time in the life of our planet, when humanity is facing twin catastrophes: natural resources depletion and environmental degradation. Under this concept, the purpose of this study is to configure what kind of design is ecologic and sustainable design and how we can develop ecological design as focusing on natural ventilation, natural lighting, uses of recycled materials, application of Indoor landscaping and architectural forms through several existing cases of the ecological office building.
