A Study on the Ego State Types of Teacher Librarians (사서교사의 자아 상태 유형에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze ego state types of teacher librarians by using egogram of the Transactional Analysis. It is the ideal ego state types for teachers that NP (Nurturing Parent), A (Adult) and FC (Free Child) are much higher than CP (Critical Parent) and AC (Adapted Child). But the teacher librarians are under higher CP and AC rather than A and FC. It means that the teacher librarians consider their values and belief as right things. Also it seams that they have not a conciliatory attitude but a hardened attitude that emphasize rules and standards. These ego state may be obstacle to their instructors role under the constructivist learning environment highlighting self directed learning of students. So, in the training course for the teacher librarians, informational and educational service course and development programs of education contents and instructional materials should be reinforced in order to strengthen their teaching competence and partnerships.

  • The TAM(Topographic Attentive Mapping) network neural network model is an especially effective one for pattern analysis. It is composed of of Input layer, category layer, and output layer. Fuzzy rule, lot input and output data are acquired from it. The TAM network with three pruning rules for reducing links and nodes at the layer is called fuzzy TAM network. In this paper, we apply fuzzy TAM network to pattern analysis of leadership type for organizational leader and show its usefulness. Here, criteria of input layer and target value of output layer are the value and leadership related personality type variables of the Egogram and Enneagram, respectively.

The Influence of Ego State and Interpersonal Skill among Nursing Students (간호대학생의 자아상태가 대인관계 기술에 미치는 영향)

  • The objective of this study was to examine the effects of ego state on the interpersonal skills of nursing students. The targets of this study were the nursing students in D city. The questionnaires were administered to one hundred forty-four nursing students between March 15 and March 30 in 2015. For ego state, the study used Egogram checklist, developed by Bernes and standardized by Korea Transactional Analysis Association, and for interpersonal skills, it used Relationship Change Scale, developed by Schlein and Guerney and revised to suit the conditions in Korea. The collected data were analyzed using t-test, Pearson's correlation, and hierarchical regression. The study results showed that the variables that had significant explanatory power (33.8%) for interpersonal skills were the nurturing parent ego, adapted child ego, and free child ego. The study suggests convergent implications on a transactional analysis programs for nursing students to improve interpersonal skills as the findings showed that the ego state of nursing students affected the interpersonal skills.

The Effect of College Students' Ego Status on Career Aspiration and Job Choice Value (대학생의 자아상태가 진로포부와 직업선택가치에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of College Students' Ego Status on career aspiration and job choice value. In order to investigate this questionnaire, 120 students from the Tourism Management Department of S University in Gyeonggi-do were surveyed. The questionnaire was reconstructed on the basis of previous studies and total of 45 items. Survey items of career choice value were 7 items including leadership desire, professionalism, direct improvement, social contribution, intellectual value calculation, vacation guarantee, salary Level. As a result of the study, it was found that career aspiration and job choice value were highly correlated with each other and that egogram structure showed a high correlation with adult ego status. Also, the higher the career aspiration and the higher the adult ego status, the higher the value of job choice. Based on the above results, the analysis of the ego-status profile based on the transactional analysis theory can be used as a very useful basic data for exploring the students' career decision, career choice and job choice, I think it will help me to understand and find an alternative career path.

The effects of family of origin variables on marital conflict (원가족변인이 부부갈등에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the family of origin variables on marital conflict. Seventy five married couples living together for less than 10 years were chosen from Seoul and Suwon cities. These subjects completed Korean Version of Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scale Ⅱ, Individual Separation Scale, Family Rules Scale, Korea Certificated Egogram, and Marital Conflict Scale. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired-t test, and hierarchical regressions. The results were as follows: First, husbands and wives were different from each other in triangulation, family rules from family of origin and marital conflict. While husbands felt more strongly about their family rules than wives, wives perceived triangulation, and marital conflict higher than husbands. Second, husbands' controlling ego state, individuation, and family rules explained sixteen percents of husbands' marital conflict. Statistically speaking husbands' controlling ego state positively influenced on husbands' marital conflict. However, both of husbands' and wives' controlling ego states explained twelve percents of wives' marital conflict, and husbands' controlling ego state was statistically significant.

Brain-Waves Analysis according to Ego-state and OK-gram of Transactional Analysis Theory (교류분석이론의 자아상태와 인생태도에 따른 뇌파 분석)

  • Through this study, we found out whether to measure objectively by using Transactional Analysis(TA) evaluating their own growth and benefit of health through the change of Ego-state, the personality structure and brain waves monitoring electric signals occurring in the brain of the human biological signals. According to the results of brain-wave test, M-type is brain-waves of healthy adults and a, ${\beta}$ were dominantly observed in the occipital while not sleeping. In particular, ${\beta}$ appears widely throughout the brain during nervous or concentrating metal activities and unlike N-type experimenters, ${\beta}$ was found to be dominant in M-type experimenters even in stable condition. N-type is brain waves of healthy adults and a, ${\beta}$ were dominantly observed in the occipital while not sleeping. In particular, unlike nervous or concentrating M-type, there was no noise such as tension and blink while resting. In addition, it turned out that subjects with high levels of A ego do not return quickly to the stable state and show a lot of Blinking and swallowing saliva, noise regardless of the pattern of Egogram. And brain waves of 11 people that the difference in data of OK-gram and Ego-state is the same in all items or less than -5 showed a low amplitude of $20{\mu}V$ in general. In conclusion, this study identified that the theory of personality pattern of Transactional Analysis Theory and brain-wave findings are consistent and also found out that brain waves are also associated according to each Ego-state of Egogram.

The Effect of Flight Attendant's Ego State on Job Satisfaction and Customer Orientation -Focused on Transactional Analysis- (항공사 객실 승무원의 자아상태가 직무만족과 고객지향성에 미치는 영향 - 교류분석을 중심으로 -)

  • Purpose: This study attempted to analyze how the ego state of flight attendants affects their job satisfaction and customer orientation using Berne's (1966) transactional analysis and further compare the difference between job satisfaction and customer orientation depending on demographic characteristics, position, and ego state. Methods: The data was collected by using the structured questionnaires to flight attendant of major airline companies. The proposed research model is tested using 164 valid questionnaires using SPSS 23 and Smart PLS 2. Results: This research indicated the only free child ego sate among ego state factors of flight attendant was found to have a positive impact on job satisfaction. In the relationship between ego states and customer orientation, all ego state factors were found to have a significant influence on customer orientation. Conclusions: The study offered a theoretical and empirical foundation for future research by empirically identifying the relationship between ego state factors and customer orientation in the in-flight service and suggested the strategic implications to increase job satisfaction and customer orientation based on the psychology and ego state of flight attendant.

  • In this paper, we study to the pattern of job satisfaction using four theories of transactional analysis-egogram, life positions, strokes, time structuring-for organizational members. The tool of pattern analysis is used fuzzy TAM network which Is especially effective for pattern analysis. The input data of fuzzy TAM network ate values of four theories in transactional analysis, the output data is the classes which is divided by two groups from score of job satisfaction. From the result of this study, the correct rates of training data and checking data are 85-100% and 60%, respectively.

Analysis of Structural Relation between the Shipyard Workers' Ego-state, Safe and Unsafe Behaviors, and Industrial Accidents (조선업 작업자의 자아상태, 안전 및 불안전행동, 산업재해 간의 구조관계 분석)

  • This study was carried out to obtain baseline data on the causes of industrial accidents and their prevention by investigating structural models between the Shipyard workers' egogram ego-states (CP: Critical Parent, NP: Nurturing Parent, A: Adult, FC: Free Child, AC: Adapted Child), safe and unsafe behaviors, and industrial accidents (frequency/severity). In order to achieve this goal, 378 workers from 3 locations of major corporations in Geojedo Island and Ulsan took a questionnaire, which was then analyzed with a structural equation model using the SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 24 statistics package, and the main results of the study are as follows. First, NP and A's ego-states had a positive influence on safe behavior, AC's ego-state had a negative influence on safe behavior, and A's ego-state had the largest influence on safe behavior. Second, CP and AC's ego-states had a positive influence on unsafe behavior, and A's ego-state had a negative influence on unsafe behavior. AC's ego-state had the largest influence on unsafe behavior. Third, safe behavior did not have a significant influence on industrial accidents. However, unsafe behavior had a positive influence on industrial accident frequency and industrial accident severity, both sub-factors of industrial accidents. This study, despite its limitations, such as sampling limitations, has the following significance. First, this study verified that ego-state, a psychological characteristic, is an important factor for predicting unsafe behavior that induces industrial accidents. Second, in order to reduce industrial accidents, there is a need to stimulate the A ego-states, and promote continuous safety management and safety education to neutralize the AC ego-state. Third, previous studies were limited in the area of practical methods for reducing unsafe behaviors, but this study presents practical methods for reducing unsafe behaviors by verifying the structural relationship between safe/unsafe behaviors and industrial accidents by selecting ego-gram ego-states, variable personality theory, as an independent variable.

Analysis on Ego State Types of Public Librarians by Ego-gram in Korea (이고그램을 이용한 공공도서관 사서의 자아 상태 유형 분석)

  • The aim of this study is to analyze the functional ego state of public librarians who should take a role of an information intermediary for children and young adults through the ego-gram which is suggested in transactional analysis theory and review their limit and feasibility as instructors. As a result of analysis, the whole ego state type of public librarians is founded to be N-type(Nightingale type) like NP-AC-A-CP-FC. The characteristics of this type can be interpreted as 'to show the tendency of self-denial in spite of their dedication.' So, the public librarians have to do their best to develop A(Adult), CP(Critical Parent) and FC(Free Child) ego state to take the requirements and behaviors of children and young adults in nurturing attitudes and enhance their autonomy and creativity through active mutual interaction. Improving A and FC is also very helpful to decrease their stress and raise their job satisfaction.
