전기로 온도공정제어에 관한 연구 (A Study on Temperature Process Control of Electric Furnace)

  • In this paper, a controller with monitoring functions is proposed for controlling temperature of an electric furnace system. The controller includes holding and ramp control functions, and the control program for the temperature process monitor of the electric furnace. For this purpose, the implementation and performance of auto tuning algorithms in a computer¬based controller is studied in relation to control of a nonlinear electric furnace system which is characterized with large time delay. The communicator of a control and detection signals, between the controller and the electric furnace is implemented by an I/O data card. Experiments for the practical electric furnace are performed to illustrate the performance of the proposed controller.

  • This paper shows adaptive control using RHPC(Receding Horizon Predictive Control) with equality constraint which applied to Electric Furnace. The control strategy includes monotonic weighting (improving transient response) and pre-filtering (enhancing robustness), which is effective on real process. We can observe the performance of RHPC and confirm the practical aspect of RHPC with unmodelled dynamics through the experiment of Electric Furnace. Finally, this paper verifies the feasibility of RHPC to real process.

테르밋 반응을 이용한 페로망간 전기로 분진의 재활용에 관한 연구 (Recovery of manganese compounds from electric arc furnace dust by Aluminothermy Process)

  • The properties of dust collected from electric arc furnace of ferro manganese production units was investigated, and also the metallic manganese was recovered from the dust by aluminothermy process. The ferromanganese dust collected from electric arc furnace contained about 15% of manganese oxide ($Mn_3O_4$) and 9% of carbon as the contaminant, and have a 5um of 50% median diameter and irregular particle shape. The carbon contaminant in the dust could be reduced until about 0.1~0.5% level by roasting in the air at a temperature of 600~900C for 60minutes. The recovery of manganese could not be carried out using only ferromanganese dust from electric arc furnace by aluminothermy process, but the ferromanganese which contained manganese of about 92% and iron of about 5% could be obtained from the mixture of ferromanganese dusts from electric arc furnace and converter. The best mixing condition of dust fixed at electric arc furnace dust / converter dust ratio of 1:9 and 2:8, and the mixing rato of 3:7 or more could not separated the metal and slag from the reactant after aluminothermy reaction.

Process Technology of the Direct Separation and Recovery of Iron and Zinc Metals Contained in High Temperature EAF Exhaust Gas

  • The innovatory process, that is the direct separation and recovery of the iron and zinc metals contained in the high temperature exhaust gas generated from the electric arc furnace fer the inn scrap melting and/or the dust treatment, has been proposed. This proposed process consists of the moving coke bed filter that is directly connected to the electric furnace, and the following heavy metal condenser. The exhaust gas passes through the filter and the condenser right after exhausting from the electric furnace. The moving coke bed filter is being controlled at about 1000℃ and collects iron and slag components contained in the high temperature exhaust gas. Heavy metals such as zinc and lead pass through the filter as vapor. Based on the thermodynamic considerations, the iron oxide and the zinc oxide are reduced in the filter. The solution loss reaction rate is comparatively low at about 1000℃ in the coke bed filter by the analysis using the mathematical simulation model. The heavy metal condenser is installed in the position after the coke bed filter, and rapidly cools the gas from about 1000℃ to 450℃ by a full of the cooling medium like the solid ceramic ball in addition to the cooling from the wall. The zinc and lead vapor condense and separate f개m the gas in a liquid state. The investigation of the characteristics of the exhaust gas of the commercial electric arc furnace, the fundamental experiments of the laboratory scale and the bench scale ensured the formation of this proposed process. A small-scale pilot plant examination is carrying out at present to confirm the formation of the process. It is certain that the dust generation of the electric arc furnace is extremely decreased, and it can save the energy consumption of usual dust treatment processes by the realization of this process.

The control program for this controller programmed by c-language. To communicate a control and detection signals, between the controller and the electric furnace is implemented by the I/O data card. We apply the temperature controller to the practical electric furnace. As a result, the proposed controller shows the better status characteristic.

  • Steel slag produced in steel making process is divided with electric arc furnace slag and converter slag. Compared with the blast furnace slag, converter slag has the expansibility due to the reaction with water and free CaO. Therefore it is specified in Standard Specification for Concrete in Korea that steel slag aggregate must not be used in concrete. In this study, we treat electric arc furnace slag aggregate(EAFSA) for concrete before and after several aging process to reduce expansibility. The fundamental properties are measured, which are specific gravity, unit weight, abrasion value and immersion expansion ratio, as concrete aggregate. To understand the suitability of EAFSA for concrete, we made the concrete with EAFSA and then determined the strength and the volume change in EAFSA concrete. From the results EAFSA treated with steam aging process has potentiality for concrete aggregate.

콘크리트용 골재로서 에이징처리한 제강슬래그외 활용 (Utilization of Electric Arc furnace Slag md Converter Slag after Aging for Concrete Aggregate)

  • 우리나라에서 2000년도에 발생된 전기로 및 전로슬래그를 합하면 약 600만 톤 정도로서 주로 도로포장재료 및 매립재 등과 같은 한정된 용도로만 활용되어 왔다. 그 이유는 제강과정 중 유리석회가 슬래그화 되지 않고 불안정한 상태로 슬래그 내부에 잔존하기 때문에 콘크리트 구조물 내에서 팽창을 일으킬 가능성이 클 뿐만 아니라, 팽창이 심할 경우 구조물의 균열 내지는 붕괴까지도 야기 시킬 수 있으므로 콘크리트용 골재로 사용해서는 안 된다고 규정하고 있다. 따라서 제강슬래그를 콘크리트용 골재로 사용하기 위해서는 제강슬래그 자체의 팽창성 억제 내지는 안정화 처리가 우선 해결되어야 할 과제로 생각된다. 본 연구에서는 제강슬래그 골재의 팽창성을 저감시키기 위한 목적으로 6종류의 에이징 방법을 선정하여 안정화의 효율에 대하여 비교 검토하였다. 전로슬래그 골재의 경우, 본 연구에서 실시한 에이징 처리 방법으로서는 콘크리트용 골재로서 요구되는 팽창률을 저감시키는데 한계가 있었을 뿐만 아니라, 에이징 처리한 전로슬래그 골재 사용 콘크리트의 강도도 재령과 더불어 감소하는 문제점이 있음을 확인하였다. 그러나 전기로슬래그 골재를 온수중 및 증기중 에이징 처리할 경우, 팽창률이 전로슬래그 골재의 약 2/3 정도에 지나지 않는 효율을 나타내었으며, 이를 사용한 콘크리트의 강도도 전로슬래그 골재 사용 콘크리트와는 달리 보통콘크리트의 강도에 상응하는 비교적 좋은 결과를 나타내므로 콘크리트용 골재로서 사용 가능성을 시사하였다.

백운석의 소성 조건에 따른 제조 Mg crown의 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Manufactured Mg Crown on the Calcining Conditions of Dolomite)

  • 국내에서 채광한 백운석(Ca·Mg(CO3)2) (20~30 mm)을 활용하여 Mg crown을 제조하였다. 백운석을 사용하여 경소 백운석(CaO·MgO)을 제조하기 위하여, (a) 전기로(950 ℃, 480분)와 (b) 마이크로웨이브 가열로(950 ℃, 60분)를 사용하는 공정을 적용한 결과를 서로 비교하였다. 전기로 공정의 경우에는 CaO 56.9 wt%, MgO 43.1 wt%, 마이크로웨이브 가열로 공정의 경우에는 CaO 55 wt%, MgO 45 wt%가 얻어졌다. 마이크로웨이브 가열로를 사용한 공정에서는 백운석의 탈탄산 반응 시간을 1/8로 단축하여도 경소백운석을 제조할 수 있었다. 수화 시험(hydration reaction, ASTM C110)은 경소백운석의 수화 반응성의 기준이 되는데, 전기로 공정의 경우에는 고 반응성(최고 온도 79.8 ℃/1.5 분)을 나타내었다. 이러한 수화 반응은 CaO의 수화 반응에 의해 일어나는 것을 XRD 분석 결과에서 확인할 수 있었으며, 마이크로 가열로 공정의 경우에는 저 반응성(최고 온도 81.7 ℃/19.5 분)을 나타내었다. 이러한 낮은 수화 반응성은 CaO의 수화 반응이 일어난 후에 MgO의 수화 반응이 일어나서 CaO와 MgO가 모두 수화물 형태로 되는 것을 XRD 분석 결과에서 확인하였다. 전기로와 마이크로웨이브 가열로를 사용하여 1,230 ℃, 60분, 5 × 10-2 torr의 조건에서 규소열환원 공정으로 제조한 Mg crown은 전기로 공정의 경우에 58.8 g 그리고 마이크로웨이브 가열로 공정의 경우에 74.6 g을 얻을 수 있었다.

전기로 High Current Cable 고장진단 알고리즘 개발 (Developing a fault diagnosis algorithm on a high current cable of arc furnace)

  • In the steel industry, a steel melting electric arc furnace is used to produce both carbon and alloy steels. Steel scrap which is charged into the furnace is heated by means of electric arc between graphite electrodes and the scrap. In this melting process, current is supplied to the furnace through HCC(high current cable) which connect the furnace and transformer. Four HCCs are assigned to each phase in our system to divide the current. Since a sudden cable breaking result in the shutdown of melting process, an aging detection of HCC is very important for both an improvement of productivity and cost reduction. In this paper, the aging of the HCC is estimated by using the current ratio between four HCCs.
