A Design and Implementation of LBS-based Tour Guide System using Embedded Linux (임베디드 리눅스를 이용한 위치기반 관광안내 단말기의 설계 및 구현)

  • In this paper we has implemented a tour guide terminal using the embedded linux. The implemented terminal can locate its position using GPS interface and display the sightseeing information of the current location. With view of this implementation results, we confirmed the possibility of embedded linux terminal as a tour guide PDA. The realtime update of sightseeing information using a mobile communication functionality will be included in our future works.

  • This paper presents a method of constructing telematics terminal embedded architecture for DMB TPEG data service The proposed embedded architecture was designed for terminal. Also, we use WIPI which was used for standard based on mobile middle-ware, and TPEG decoding which was used for Window CE. We can see the advantage compare with previous methods.

  • This paper has implemented a tour guide terminal using the embedded linux.   • Since the radio spectrum is limited, future wireless system will have micro cellular architecture in order to provide multimedia traffic services on personal communicatons network. The small coverage area of micro cellular systems results in frequent hadnoffs and location updates. We focuse on network load and terminal power due to frequent location updates and propose a location tracking scheme using embedded-pager PCS terminals. The proposed scheme is expected to minimize theconsumption of PCS terminal powr and improve the receiving rate of callee because of the power saving mechanism and the embedded-pager PCS terminal. This paper proposes signaling flows among the network elements for the proposed location tracking scheme. The signaling flows are accomodated to not only the existed network architectures but alsothe ATM backbone network arcitecture. To verify the signaling flows, we used petri-Net model. The resutls show that the signaling flows are suitable to our proposed location tracking scheme.

  • In general, a wireless communication device has employed a whip antenna or a stubby antenna. Recently, wireless communication device is increasingly employing an embedded antenna, Intenna, for the sake of miniaturization. Further, it may employ both external and embedded antennas. Examples of the embedded antenna include a multi-band monopole antenna, which radiates uniformly in all directions when viewed from above, and a planar inverted F antenna (PIFA), which is a variation of the monopole antenna. However, since the conventional antenna is mounted in a finished state on the mobile communication terminal, there is a limitation of space required for providing the antenna. According to the present study, there is provided an Intenna that is deposited on a front or back case of the mobile communication terminal by a sputtering method. Accordingly, it is possible to overcome a limitation of space required for providing the Intenna and to improve the performance of the Intenna formed on the front or back case of the mobile communication terminal.

Finite-time Adaptive Non-singular Terminal Sliding-mode Control for Robot Manipulator (로봇 매니퓰레이터에 적용을 위한 유한한 시간 적응 비특이 터미널 슬라이딩 모드 제어 기법)

  • We propose an adaptive non-singular terminal sliding-mode control for the fast finite-time convergence (FANTSMC) in robot manipulator. The proposed FANTSMC approach is developed to be applied without singularity in robot manipulator, which has a new pole-placement control with the non-singular terminal sliding variable while generating the desirable control torque. Moreover, the switching gain is designed to suppress the time-delayed estimation error appropriately, which aims at providing the high robust tracking performance. Also, the proposed one employs one-sample delayed information to cancel out the system uncertainties and disturbances. For these reasons, it offers strong attraction within the finite time. It is shown that the tracking performance of the proposed FANTSMC approach is guaranteed to be uniformly ultimately bounded through the Lyapunov stability. The effectiveness of the proposed FANTSMC approach is illustrated in simulations, which is compared with that of the up-to-date control approach.

Current Developments of Biomedical Mobile Devices for Ubiquitous Healthcare (u-Healthcare를 위한 바이오 단말기의 개발 현황)

  • Biomedical mobile devices for ubiquitous healthcare consist of biomedical sensors and communication terminal. They have two types of configuration. One is the sensor-network type device using wired or wireless communication with intelligent sensors to acquire biomedical data. The other is the sensor embedded type device, where the data can be acquired directly by itself. There are many examples of sensor network type, such as, fall detection sensor, blood glucose sensor, and ECG sensors networked with commercial PDA phone and commercial phone terminal for ubiquitous healthcare. On the other hand, sensor embedded type mounts blood glucose sensor, accelerometer, and etc. on commercial phone. However, to enable true ubiquitous healthcare, motion sensing is essential, because users go around anywhere and their signals should be measured and monitored, when they are affected by the motion. Therefore, in this paper, two biomedical mobile devices with motion monitoring function were addressed. One is sensor-network type with motion monitoring function, which uses Zigbee communication to measure the ECG, PPG and acceleration. The other is sensor-embedded type with motion monitoring function, which also can measure the data and uses the built-in cellular phone network modem for remote connection. These devices are expected to be useful for ubiquitous healthcare in coming aged society in Korea.

A Study on a Mobile Terminal Platform for a High Speed Mobile Multimedia System (초고속 이동멀티미디어 시스템을 위한 이동단말 플랫폼 연구)

  • This paper presents a L3 mobile terminal platform of the mobile terminal system which is a subsystem of HMm(Hig-speed Mobile Multimedia) system, which layer 3 control protocols such as RC(Radio Control), SC(Session Control), MC(Mobility Control) and application services such as VOD, FTP, VoIP for a multimedia mobile terminal are implemented on. The hardware platform is based on PXA255 and supports various interfaces and multimedia devices, and under the platform, an embedded Linux generated by the self-maden cross-toolchain, L3 control protocols and application programs were installed. The operation of HMm system under the HMm testbed has shown that this platform successfully supported SIP services, web browsing services, streaming services and etc as well as call processing. It could be the reference of the upcoming Fourth-Generation mobile terminal which the multimedia functionality will be enforced.

A Common Platform for An Internal-Based Mobile Robot and Its Operator Terminal (인터넷 기반의 이동 로봇과 조종 단말기를 위한 공용 플랫폼 개발)

  • This paper proposes a common platform for an internet-based mobile robot and its operator terminal. The common platform can reduce the cost and time to develop an internet-based robot and its operator terminal. The robot performs the role of a server and its terminal a client. One operator can use this terminal to make a command and this command can be sent to the robot through a wireless network. According to given commands, the robot moves a point and sends an image by using a camera or desired information by using other sensors. The information sent from the robot can help an operator to control the robot. The mobile robot consists of two modules, main module and motion module. Main module can exchange information with the operator terminal, process information, and send a command to motion module. Each application program for one internet-based mobile robot and its operator terminal will be developed to show that the same platform can be used for them. Also, it will be shown that the robot can be controlled easily by using its operator terminal.
