The questionnaire consisted of measuring tools for general characteristics, communication ability, interpersonal relation and empathy. SPSS/23.0 program was used. The analysis used descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, multiple regression analysis, and Sobel's tests. Results: The communication ability was nursing major satisfaction (t=8.25, p<.001), and last year's average grade (t=7.29, p=.001). Interpersonal relationships showed significant differences in gender (t=2.51, p=.013) and nursing major satisfaction (t=10.99, p<.001). Communication ability and empathy (r=.37, p<.001), communication ability and interpersonal relation (r=.77, p<.001), empathy and interpersonal relation (r=.43, p<.001) showed a significant static correlation. In communication ability and interpersonal relation, empathy had a partial mediating effect (Z=2.97, p<.001), and explanatory power was 62%. Conclusion: To improve the communication ability and interpersonal relation of nursing students, it is necessary to develop a personalized and empathy-enhanced education program for each grade.

  • The purpose of this paper is to understand and express emotions and experiences from the perspective of others through empathy, which is crucial for maintaining social relationships. The smooth formation of interpersonal relationships through the physical activity of children with disabilities holds significant meaning. Children with disabilities often lack opportunities for interaction with their peers compared to typical children, and the absence of effective communication methods poses difficulties in forming relationships. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effects of a movement education program on enhancing empathy in children with disabilities. The program was implemented for 12 weeks from April to June 2023, involving five children with disabilities. The movement education program comprised 12 topics, encompassing physical, emotional, and cognitive domains. Empathy was measured in two areas: cognitive empathy and emotional empathy. The results indicated improvement in both cognitive and emotional empathy after the program compared to the pre-assessment. The rate of progress varied depending on the type and severity of the disability, but overall, positive changes in the development of empathy were observed. Through this research, it is hoped that movement programs can be practically utilized as a valuable resource.

  • This paper criticized that online classes during the Covid-19 period were centered on knowledge and information education, and sought ways to improve empathy as a way to improve students' sociality. The teaching-learning process was designed around the movie <(500) Days of Summer> which has the theme and story of parting and growth. On this paper the stage of empathy was divided into three stages, recognize-into, feeling-into, emotional-transaction stage. In particular, considering the process of transitioning from emotional empathy to behavioral empathy as the key to communication education, the class was designed in five stages, with an expression stage between the feeling-into stage and the emotional-transaction stage. This course is possible when learners sympathize with the work itself and reflect on their own narrative, so literary therapeutic was used, and students's response statements were collected to prove that this process is meaningful for improving empathy. In this article, the class was designed for the movie <(500) Days of Summer>, but this teaching-learning model can be applied to other contemporary film texts.

  • To develop a more efficient computer-based empathy program that enables medical students to increase their empathy levels, and to test its applicability to medical students. We developed PACP (the Pain Assessment Computer Program) for measurement of medical students' levels of recognition of another's pain. An empathy questionnaire was administered to 145 medical students before and after the PACP. In the high empathy group, the scores for cognitive empathy increased significantly after completion of the PACP, while affective empathy scores showed no significant change. In contrast, in the low empathy group, both cognitive and affective empathy scores increased significantly after the PACP. The PACP effectively increased cognitive empathy for the high empathy group, and increased both cognitive and affective empathy, particularly for the low empathy group. Given the fact that existing empathy education programs are time-consuming and costly, and the demand for more efficient empathy education is high, the PACP as a useful tool can be applicable to medical students, particularly those with low empathy in order to enhance their empathic abilities within a short period of time.
