  • Fire safety management on any construction site should start with recognizing fire risks in the workplace, understanding the extent of the risks, and proper assessment of the controls necessary to reduce the risks. However, the most important step to prevent fire-related accidents on jobsites is the constant review and monitoring of processes and controls by all individuals involved. This study was conducted to analyze the effectiveness of using computer simulation as an addition to maps or floor plans in safety training and management. Simulex was used on a real project to model various egress routes and to identify potential problem areas of the evacuation strategy. This study highlights the efficacy of simulated emergency evacuation as a training tool that visually shows constantly altering means of egress.

  • For construction projects it is imperative that site management gives the highest priority to planning safe site evacuation for all foreseeable emergencies, including earthquakes and typhoons which are often experienced in Japan. This is especially important and even more critical for high risk projects involving underground works, such as Tunneling & Pneumatic Caissons. Based on the safety regulation of underground works, a back-up power supply system must be provided during the construction period at all times. Often, fluorescent lamps with re-chargeable batteries are provided for infrequent emergency cases, however these have a questionable useable life span and thus need careful maintenance and periodical replacement. In this paper we focused on using the phosphorescence materials to indicate the evacuation direction. As a result, it was confirmed that the phosphorescence materials were considered useful in reducing panic and facilitating a controlled evacuation in the event of a total black-out due to power failure.

  • Recently, many patients in a hospital are threatened life by fire disaster. Because many patients like vulnerable people have more evacuation problem than ordinary person. So a patient who can escape by oneself with walking assistance device like crutches or wheelchair and another patient who can't escape by oneself are should be supported safety technologies and service. Earlier research of 'hospital evacuation' led by actual experiments or computer evacuation simulation. Actual experiment is effective to gain credibility of result but it is difficult for patients to experiment repeatedly and it requires consideration for spatial problem and economic problems. Although computer evacuation simulation have been used to solve these problems, almost have concluded only results based on velocity without evacuation device. In this study, evacuation results with support device application or not are analysed used by computer evacuation simulation based on MAS(Multi Agent System). As a result, it is drawn through proof of efficiency of evacuation device in the vertical space like stairs that can improve the evacuation plan for vulnerable people in the hospital.

  • This study classified the study subjects as apartment residents and managers, and conducted the descriptive statistics of research questions related to the effectiveness of the lightweight partition walls and the evacuation space. This study also conducted T-test and Anova to find the different perceptions of the lightweight partition walls and the evacuation space, and the different perceptions of related laws according to the characteristics of the residents and managers. The findings and suggestions were as follows. Firstly, strengthening of the Senior Fire Safety Manager system to prevent the insolvency of fire safety management due to the affiliate. Secondly, implementing enhanced penalties in accordance with not implementing residents education, in order to prevent not smoothly delivering manager trained education to residents. Thirdly, adjusting hands-on training time according to the gender of the managers to supplement women's relatively low perceptions of lightweight partition. Fourthly, mandating evacuation guidance stickers on the evacuation space for residents to remove obstacles in the evacuation space. Finally, establishing regular residents education system in order to improve the awareness of the related laws for residents residing over 16th floors.

  • In this study, We analyzed that evacuation characteristics of residents, fire safety standards, evacuation facilities and flame retardation, etc to increase the evacuation safety of a long-term care hospital. Therefore, In order to improve of evacuation safety in case of fire, We proposed that an increase in the number of care workers, education, training and an amendment to the law, a change of positions of fire safety controller.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate, through experimental methods, the efficiency of passenger movement and evacuation in the event of an emergency situation on an aircraft. Method: The experiment was conducted a total of 4 times, including 3 scenarios. The three situations were evacuation without luggage, evacuation with carry-on baggage, and evacuation with carry-on baggage and carrier. In the experiment, time was measured based on recorded video. Result: The total evacuation time was found to be approximately 1.5 times higher for the evacuation with luggage, and approximately 3.5 times higher for the evacuation with luggage and 3 carriers compared to the evacuation result in a situation where nothing was carried. As a result of applying the evacuation simulation, it was found that there was a difference from the experimental results. In particular, consideration of complex situations such as carrying out and moving carriers is considered to be a situation that requires more technical research. Conclusion: Quantitive data was obtained to determine how carry-on luggage and carrier affect evacuation.

  • A*algorithm is highly useful to search the shortest route to the destination in the evacuation simulation. For this reason, A*algorithm is used to evaluate the evacuation experiment by the computer simulation. However there are some problems to analyze the outcome in relation to the reality. Because all the people in the building are not well-informed of the shortest route to the exit. And they will not move to the disaster spot though it is shortest route to the exit. Therefore, evacuation simulation program based on A*algorithm raise a problem of bottleneck phenomenon and dangerous result by damage surrounding the disaster spot. The purpose of this research is to prove the necessity for dispersion evacuation simulation by Multi agent system to solve the problems of the existing evacuation simulation program based on A*algorithm.

  • Social welfare facilities are used by a wide range of local residents, including vulnerable populations such as the elderly, children, and people with disabilities. During emergencies like fires, confusion can arise as these individuals try to evacuate. Evacuation simulation results have shown that utilizing evacuation systems based on specific evacuation scenarios can significantly decrease the time required for evacuation compared to general evacuation procedures. By anticipating potential fires based on changes in social and facility environments, appropriate evacuation scenarios can be developed and applied to evacuation systems, thus contributing to the safety and security of individuals during emergencies. In conclusion, for social welfare facilities that serve a large number of people, it is necessary to expand the focus on performance-based design depending on the size of the facility, and to continuously develop and train for appropriate evacuation scenarios that align with changing facility environments.

  • The purpose of this study is to minimize damage of chemical accidents through the appropriation analysis of evacuation facility position focused on Ulsan metropolitan city. For analysis, informations such as pollutant release and transfer registers(PRTR), population census, and evacuation facilities were used. After then, damage assessment of chemical accidents, accessibility and appropriation of evacuation facilities were analyzed. Damage of chemical accidents is high in around 5km of industrial complex there is dense of chemical facility and population. Evacuation facilities were mainly situated in hazard area of chemical accidents, but accessibility of evacuation facilities was vulnerable in chemical plant neighborhood. Therefore, safety check of deteriorated plants is important for prevention of chemical accidents. Also, effective evacuation plan considering capacity and scale of evacuation facilities will be established.

  • Pedestrian assemblage is now a normal phenomenon in modern cities. To maintain an unblocked traffic situation, protect the pedestrians' safety and make preparedness for any emergencies is an important task for police department. Modeling pedestrian dynamics and simulating evacuation process can provide useful information for make accurate decisions. In this paper, by virtue of geographic information technologies, the authors proposed a conceptual framework to simulate pedestrian dynamics and evacuation in an open urban environment.
