A Study on Evaluation Method of Mineral Water Quality (먹는 물의 수질평가방법에 관한 연구)

  • This study has been performed to evaluate mineral water quality by using four parameters [Mg]/[Ca], [Na]/[K], [Mg]+[Ca]/[Na]+[K] and total hardness(as CaCO3 mg/ℓ). The four parameters has been ploted in a general scale and logarithmic scale, respectively. The method of general scale is not applicable for evaluation on several parameters. Therefore, the logarithmic scale is applied instead to settle the problem. The evaluation of the water quality is based on standard sample S, and the results of the 6 domestics and 5 overseas sample evaluation are as follow. At present, evaluation of the water quality on the mineral water can be done by using four parameters calculated from only cation concentration printed on the bottle's marking.

  • For the comfortable housing life, comfortable and pleasant urban environment should be created for the people living in house and in city. There are lots of environmental conditions in city affecting house and life. Also most of all the noise pollution have been become major factor that makes people's life uncomfortable. Recently soundscape researches have been performed to create comfortable urban environment and various studies on the evaluation of urban environmental sounds are now undergoing. This study aimed to analyse the subjective characteristics through the subjective evaluation to the sounds measured with physical parameters and eventually to find out alternative evaluation method for urban environmental sounds. Adjectives applied to previous studies were used for the subjective evaluation and sound sources recorded in specific places were presented with picture at the same time. As a result, new physical parameters such as Lmax, Unbiased Annoyance, G, N and EmT have a feasibility to evaluation of urban environment sounds in terms of acoustic comfort.

  • In this study, in order to overcome the weakness of acoustic field analysis which is generally used for ultrasonic probe performance evaluation, automatic acoustic field measurement system and evaluation parameters were proposed. The comparisons between acoustic field simulation and measured acoustic distribution data of normal and abnormal channels were conducted to evaluate the availability of proposed system and evaluation parameters. First, the impulse response characteristic of sample probe was investigated to classify the normal elements and abnormal elements. And then, normal channels and abnormal channels with abnormal element were chosen. The suggested 12 evaluation parameters were calculated using the acoustic fields of these channels. The availability of proposed automatic acoustic field measurement system and evaluation parameters was confirmed. And the performance evaluation of ultrasonic probe using acoustic field analysis could be easier and faster.

  • A BNR comprehensive performance evaluation (BNR CPE) system was established employing system-oriented evaluation methodology for biological nutrient removal (BNR) processes based on the CPE techniques developed by U.S. EPA for evaluation of conventional biological processes. The BNR CPE system applied to five domestic BNR plants adopting $A^2/O$ process confirmed that all target plants except the smallest one had not any serious defective performance and process stability was enhanced with increasing plant size. The system also clearly verified relatively poor performances in anoxic reactors without exception mainly due to influent carbon limit rather than functional defect. Consistent good performances were confirmed even during both winter season and wet weather generally known to be difficult to achieve satisfactory removals. Presentation of evaluation results by modified radar chart system simplified and clarified the evaluation and analysis procedures. The BNR CPE system could not only discover readily the causes of present and prospective poor performances but also facilitate the suggestion of their optimization options. Mutual effect and cause-and-effect among operation parameters and unit processes were also found easily using the evaluation system. The system justified that the adverse effect of defective operating parameters could be compensated by other favorable parameters, especially in anaerobic and anoxic reactors as well as during the winter season.

  • The diffuser noise of HVAC(heating ventilating and air-conditioning) uses dB(A) or NC as a indoor noise criteria that ASHRAE represents, and there is no specific guide line for application. According to the previous study, there are some problems like that even though the sound level of sound source is same, the NC shows different values, which makes the noise rating confused. This problem is caused by the frequency characteristics of sound source and its sound level. Therefore, appropriate evaluation method should be considered based on the subjective responses. This study aims to analyze the physical parameters appropriate for the evaluation of HVAC diffuser noise.   • High impedance fault(HIF) is random in its behavior even in a similar environment. The detection of Ire HIF has focused on the development of algorithms based on harmonic, parameters of the arc currents. However, a fact that proper selection of the harmonic parameters, rather than algorithm selection, is more important is shown in this paper by applying three different performance evaluation methods on two HIF detection algorithms using eight harmonic parameters.

  • The effects of different heat treatments on the sensory characteristics of abalones are studied in this study. In this paper, the sensory evaluation of abalone samples under different heat treatment conditions is carried out, and the evaluation results are analyzed. The three-dimensional (3D) scanning and reverse engineering are used in tooth modeling of the sensory evaluation of abalone samples under different heat treatment conditions. Besides, the chewing movement models are simplified into three modes, including the cutting mode, compressing mode and grinding mode, which are simulated using finite element simulation. The elastic modulus of the abalone samples is obtained through the compression testing using a texture analyzer to distinguish their material properties under different heat treatments and to obtain simulated mechanical parameters. Finally, taking the mechanical parameters of the finite element simulation of abalone chewing as input and sensory evaluation parameters as the output, BP neural network is established in which the sensory texture evaluation model of abalone samples is obtained. Through verification, the neural network prediction model can meet the requirements of food texture evaluation, with an average error of 9.12%.

  • This paper deals with analytical techniques for performance evaluation of small scaled wind power generator with outer permanent magnet rotor. In part (1), using transfer relations theorem, magnetic field distribution characteristics by PM and armature reaction field are derived. Moreover, electrical parameters such as back-EMF, inductance and resistance are calculated from the obtained field characteristic equations. The proposed analytical techniques are validated by nonlinear finite element method using commercial software 'Maxwell' and performance experiments of the manufactured generator. In part (2), generating characteristics analysis such as constant speed characteristics and constant resistive load characteristics, and performance evaluation according to variation of wind speed will be accomplished using the derived electrical parameters.

Periodic seismic performance evaluation of highway bridges using structural health monitoring system

  • In this study, the periodic seismic performance evaluation scheme is proposed using a structural health monitoring system in terms of seismic fragility. An instrumented highway bridge is used to demonstrate the evaluation procedure involving (1) measuring ambient vibration of a bridge under general vehicle loadings, (2) identifying modal parameters from the measured acceleration data by applying output-only modal identification method, (3) updating a preliminary finite element model (obtained from structural design drawings) with the identified modal parameters using real-coded genetic algorithm, (4) analyzing nonlinear response time histories of the structure under earthquake excitations, and finally (5) developing fragility curves represented by a log-normal distribution function using maximum likelihood estimation. It is found that the seismic fragility of a highway bridge can be updated using extracted modal parameters and can also be monitored further by utilizing the instrumented structural health monitoring system.

  • In this paper, a performance evaluation algorithm of contents curation platform is proposed. The evaluation starts with setting the initial-final conditions, and measures four performance evaluation parameters. These parameters are response rate of service, accuracy of response result, precision of analysis result, and recall rate of analysis result. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, a database of 118,738 cases was constructed and the contents was opened on the Internet. In this experiment, 6,975,365 pageviews were applied to analysis user behavior. Through the measurement of four parameters, it was confirmed that the integrated and unit evaluation of content curation platform can be performed objectively.
