  • This paper decribes a new technique for the generation of excitation sources in LPC system. We synthesize a speech signal using several excitation sources, according to residual signal energy and ZCR(zero Crossing Rate). One of the excitation sources mix the double differentiated glottal wave form source and noise source. As a result, we got improved speech signal than that produced by conventional LPC system.

  • In this paper, a single degree-of freedom gimbal-structured micro gyroscope and signal processing part including capacitive sensing circuits and filters are designed, fabricated and experimented. We use capacitive sensing method with excitation signal, i.e. sensing excitation signal, to measure the displacement of the moving plate. So, Sensing Output Signal is modulated twice by the excitation signal and driving signal, which is profitable to decouple the driving and sensing mode, to reduce the effect of the acceleration, and to curtail the noises due to parasitic capacitance and driving signal. To reduce driving noises and to improve linearity, the excitation signals and driving signals are modified. Through frequency response analyses ...

  • In this paper, we design and implement the Korean speech synthesis by rule system. This system is applied the multiband excitation signal on voiced sounds. The multiband excitation signal is obtained by mixing impluse spectrum and which noise spectrum. We find that the quality of synthesized speech is improved using this application. Also, we classify the voiced sounds by cepstral euclidian distance measure for reducing overhead memory. The representative excitation signal of the same group's voiced sounds is used as excitation signal on synthesis. This method does not affect the quality of synthesized speech. As the result of experiment, this method eliminates the "buzziness" of synthesized speech and reduces the spectral distortion of synthesized speech.ed speech.

  • In order to enhance the performance of a CELP coder at low bit rates, it would be necessary to make the CELP excitation have the peaky pulse characteristic. In this paper we introduce an excitation signal with peaky pulse characteristic. It is obtained by using a two-tap pitch predictor. Samples of the signal have different gains according to their amplitudes by the predictor. In voiced sound the signal has the desirable peaky pulse characteristic, and its periodicity is well reproduced. Particularly, peaky pulses at voiced onset and a burst of plosive sound are clearly reconstructed.

  • In this study, the excitation pattern, which can be sensated by a man having hearing loss due to the damage of inner ear, is extracted, and the procedure of the auditory speech signal processing is simulated with the computer. Therefore, the excitation pattern is extracted by the neural tuning model satisfying the physiological characteristic of the inner ear and by the infor.ation extracted from speech signal. The firing pattern is also extracted by inputting this excitation pattern to the auditory neural model. With this extracted firing pattern, the possibility that the patient can sensate the speech signal is studied by the computer simulation.

  • The original DANTE sequence and its variations have limitation in excitation profile (a sinc function-like excitation) due to the finite duration of the DANTE pulsetrain. This sinc function-like selection profile excites only a small fraction of the spins in the pixel thereby results in poor signal to noise ratio (only about ${\sim}1%$ of normal MR imaging sequence). Therefore, this poor signal to noise ratio (SNR) has been the main drawback of the original DANTE sequence. To improve the signal to noise ratio, phases of individual RF pulses in the DANTE pulse train were modulated so that more spins in the object were excited ($1{\sim}3$). We have introduced a new FM (Frequency Modulation) DANTE sequence and analyzed the signal intensity and excitation profiles.

  • If the speed measurement of resolver and the generation of PWM signals are implemented with single microcontroller, it is easy to reduce the system cost and to avoid the switching noise of inverters. To avoid the switching noise and to improve the accuracy of measurement, PWM switching and A/D sampling of the resolver should be synchronized. Phase angle of the resolver excitation signal is increased in stepwise manner, then, the output signal of the resolver is measured in each step. From the measured data, the optimal phase angle of resolver excitation signal is estimated using the least square approximation method.

  • The excitation control system of an emergency diesel generator is classified as a kind of safety-related system. Compared with other control systems in a power plant, this system is required to be more reliable and have better performance. In this paper, the digital multi-redundant excitation system for a diesel generator was proposed. The signal processing system of the proposed system makes high speed signal processing and arithmetic in excitation control possible. The improved soft start algorithm and multiple PI parameters adaptation considering the diesel generator characteristics were implemented in the proposed system. The developed system was applied to a nuclear power plant successfully.

  • In speech synthesis, LF model is widely used for excitation signal for voice source coding system. But LF model does not represent the harmonic frequencies of excitation signal. We propose an effective method which use sinusoidal functions for representing the harmonics of voice source signal. The proposed method could achieve more exact voice source waveform and better synthesized speech quality than LF model.

  • We propose a neuron model that has the interactions between excitation and inhibition. By adopting the knowledge of the physiology, the neuron model by imitating structure of a neuron, has the system resemble a neuron. We considered a neuron system based on the arguments, and wished to examine whether the system had reasonable function Koch, Poggio and Torre believed that inhibition signal would shunt excitation signal on the dendrites. They believed that excitation signal operated input signals and inhibition did as delayed ones. Thus, they were sure that function for directional selectivity was arisen by the shunting. We construct the neuron system with Koch's concept. Our neuron model has 3-layer structure and ...
