입자성 물질의 크기성질로서의 표면 전기적 특성 규명에 대한 기초연구 (Fundamental Studies on the Characteristics of the Surface Electrokinetic Behavior of Particulate Matter as an Extensive Property)

  • 일반적으로 전기 동역학적 전위는 세기성질로 알려져 있으며 이를 바탕으로 연구들이 진행되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 대표적 무기성 물질인 몬모릴로나이트를 대상으로 하여 분산체를 제조해 전위를 측정하였다. 전기 동역학적 전위를 측정한 결과, 몬모릴로나이트의 질량이 증가할수록 전위값이 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 이는 몬모릴로나이트의 질량이 증가하면서 단위질량당 흡착하는 이온의 양이 적어지기 때문이라고 사료된다. 이러한 결과는 전위가 세기성질이 아닌 크기성질을 따른다고 생각할 수 있다. 또한 측정한 전기 동역학적 전위값을 통해 입자간 상호 에너지를 측정한 결과 몬모릴로나이트의 질량이 증가할수록 상호 입자간 에너지가 점차적으로 감소하는 경향이 관찰되었다.

A Case Study of Extensive Green Roof System for Tropical Climate in Malaysia

  • Rapid urbanization has taken environmental toll on the surrounding which can be witnessed by the advent of global warming and climate change. Driven by environmental needs, Green Building Index (GBI) was established in Malaysia to drive initiative to lead the property industry towards becoming more environmental friendly. Green roofs (roof with vegetated cover) as one of the assessment criteria of GBI, are gaining attention in the Malaysian society as a versatile new environmental friendly mitigation technology. This paper evaluates the qualitative and quantitative performances of an extensive green roof at Humid Tropics Centre under local tropical climate. Simulations showed that the extensive green roof system could reduce the peak discharge up to 26% in relation to impervious brown roof. Its reduction ability decreased for storms with intense rainfall. Increment of pH was observed for the green roof runoff and the runoff water quality ranged between class I and II under Water Quality Index (WQI). High concentrations of phosphate were noticed in the runoff samples and substrates (fertilized planting soil) might be the potential contributor. Findings indicate that there was a reduction of around $1.5^{\circ}C$ for indoor temperature of the building after installation of the extensive green roof.

  • In the current competitive marketplace of real estate business, tenant satisfaction measurement is one of the important indicators to monitor competitiveness in industrial property development. It has become an industry standard to measure tenant satisfaction, commonly called customer satisfaction. Customer satisfaction has become the widely used metric to manage customer loyalty (Keiningham, Gupta, Aksoy, & Buoye, 2014). The aim of this research is to determine the impact of property management services on tenants' satisfaction with the three identified variables i.e. facility management, perceived quality and lease management. Structural equation modeling (SEM) is applied to build constructs and test the hypotheses with the collected survey samples. Of the three variables, facility management is the most influential factor that leads to tenant satisfaction with industrial buildings. Next, perceived quality is another important factor that contributes to tenants' pleasure. Compared with these two, lease management fares worse, having the least extensive effect on tenant satisfaction, and could be disregarded. The ultimate impact of tenant satisfaction is about tenant retention and recommendation. The overall findings of this research will potentially help real estate developers to develop a better property management system, leasing program and tenant retention strategy.

  • This paper presents a new computationally efficient adaptive algorithm for blind signal separation, which is able to recover the narrowband source signals in the presence of cochannel interference without a prior knowledge of array manifold. We derive a new blind signal separation algorithm using the Natural gradient 〔1〕from an information-theoretic approach. The resulting algorithm has the Bussgang property which has been widely used in blind equalization 〔12〕. Extensive computer simulation results comfirm the validity and high performance of the proposed algorithm.

Carbon Nanotubes and Nanofibre: An Overview

  • Carbon nanotubes are graphene sheets rolled up in cylinders with diameter as small as 1nm. Extensive work carried out in recent years has revealed the intriguing properties of this novel material. Exceptional property combined with low density of nanotubes makes them suitable for use as reinforcements in composites. Low volume of production and high cost is the main limitations towards their growth and application. Nanofibres bridge the gap between the conventional carbon fibre and the carbon nanotubes. With their low cost & comparatively higher volume of production along with their exceptional properties, the nanofibres are considered attractive material as nanoscale reinforcement. In this article a concise review of structure, property. production and application of carbon nanotubes and nanofibres have been discussed.

  • Localized rainfall due to abnormal climate has caused extensive damages killing several tens to hundreds of people for yearly basis. The typhoon 'Lusa' of year 2002 has resulted 5,400 billion won of property damage and the damages for roads were approximated to be 2,860 billion won at 12,377 locations holding 53% damage of total. The recent typhoon, 'Aewinia' of yeat 2006 caused the 1,400 billion-won property damage including sweeping and flooding of 127 roads and 65 rivers, respectively. There are needs to minimize the damages for important structures for repeated heavy rainfalls every year and, especially, because debris flow might be a main cause of road damage, the design criteria and guideline for roads are required to be improved. Therefore, this paper presented design method of debris-flow control structure for road protection.

최적의 자기상관 특성을 갖는 주기 \ulcorner-1인 이진시퀀스의 생성 (New Binary Sequences of Period Pm-1 with Optimal Autocorrelation)

  • In this paper, we present a construction for binary sequences {s(t)} of period N= \ulcorner-1 for an odd prime \ulcornerbased on the polynomial (z+1)d+az d +b, and discuss them in some cases of parameters p, m, d, a and b. We show that new sequences from our construction are balanced or almost balanced, and have optimal three-level autocorrelation. We also derive the distribution of autocorrelation values they take on. The sequences satisfy constant-on-the-coset property, and we will show that there are more than one characteristic phases with constant-on-the-coset property. Some other interesting properties of these sequences will be presented. Results of an extensive computer search are summarized.

Phospholipid Polymer, 2-Methacryloyloxyethyl Phosphorylcholine and Its Skin Barrier Function

  • The effect of poly[2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine] (pMPC) on the skin permeation property was investigated by performing in vitro skin permeation study of a model drug, nicotinic acid (NA). Effect of pMPC polymer in donor solution on skin permeation rates was evaluated using side-by-side diffusion cells. Also, the structural alterations in the stratum corneum (SC), inter-lamellar bilayer (ILB) and dermis layers in pMPC-treated and -untreated skin sections were investigated with transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The permeation profile of NA without pMPC in donor solution showed biphasic mode: initial $1^{st} phase and 2^{nd}$ hydration phase. The sudden, more than 10-fold increase in flux from the initial steady state (43.5 $\mu g/cm^2$/hr) to the $2^{nd}$ hydration phase (457.3 $\mu g/cm^2$/hr) suggests the disruption of skin barrier function due to extensive hydration. The permeation profile of NA with 3% pMPC in the donor solution showed monophasic pattern: the steady state flux (10.9 $\mu g/cm^2$/hr) without abrupt increase of the flux. The degree of NA permeation rate decreased in a concentration-dependent manner of pMPC. TEM of skin equilibrated with water or 2% pMPC for 12 h showed that corneocytes are still cohesive and epidermis is tightly bound to dermis in 2% pMPC-treated skin, while wider separation between corneocytes and focal dilations in inter-cellular spaces were observed in water-treated skin. This result suggests that pMPC could protect the barrier property of the stratum corneum by preventing the disruption of ILB structure caused by extensive skin hydration during skin permeation study.

BIM 속성분류체계 구축을 위한 속성입력 자동화 프로그램 구현 (Implementation of Property Input Automation Program for Building Information Modeling (BIM) Property Set)

  • BIM 도구는 설계프로세스에서 기술의 사용이 증가하면서 그에 따른 정보표준체계가 필요하게 되었다. 건설이 완료된 결과(Result) 분류는 25종 단위시설에 327종의 유형, 결과를 구성하는 객체는 174종의 Part와 207종의 Component로 분류하고 있다. 선행연구에서는 도로와 하천 분야 대상으로 속성분류체계를 대분류 4종, 중분류 13종, 소분류 58종, 속성정보 333종으로 분류하였고, 객체분류에 따른 대량의 속성정보를 입력하는 것의 소요 시간을 줄이는 것이 관건이었다. 따라서, Revit 플러그인과 같은 외부 응용 프로그램 개발을 통해 구체적이고 반복적인 작업에 자동화가 필요하다. BIM 속성분류체계를 따르면서 사용자의 생산성과 편의성을 강화할 수 있는 BIM 속성입력 프로그램을 구현하였다.

Extensive investigations of photon interaction properties for ZnxTe100- x alloys

  • An extensive investigation of photon interaction properties has been made for $Zn_xTe_{100-x}$ alloys (where x = 5, 20, 30, 40, 50) to explore its possible use in sensing and shielding gamma radiations. The results show better and stable response of ZnTe alloys for various photon interaction properties over the wide energy range, with an additional benefit of ease in fabrication due to lower melting points of Zn and Te. Mass attenuation coefficient values show strong dependence on photon energy as well as composition. Effective atomic number has maximum value for $Zn_5Te_{95}$ and lowest for $Zn_{50}Te_{50}$ in the entire energy region. The alloy sample with maximum $Z_{eff}$ shows minimal value of $N_e$ and vice versa. Mean free path follows inverse trend as observed for mass attenuation coefficient. The exposure and energy absorption buildup factors depend upon photon energy, penetration thickness and composition (effective atomic number) of $Zn_xTe_{100-x}$ alloys. It finds its application for sensing and shielding from highly energetic and highly penetrating photons at sites where radioactive materials were used and visibility of material is not a big constraint. Further, energy down conversion property of ZnTe alloys with subsequent emission in green band suggests its potential use in sensing gamma photons.
