  • This study aims to clearly understand 'Functional Requisite of Authority Data(FRAD)' being studied by IFLA focused on aspect of change from FRAR. In addition, it has established relationship between FRAD and concerned rules by analyzing effect of FRAD on RDA and MARC21 and reviewed cataloguing rules, format and situations of major authority DB implementations concerned about domestic authority controls in reflection of IFLA's activities for authority control. Based on the analysis, it has looked into considerations for domestic authority controls standards such as access control methods, expansion of application scope, introduction of new approaches such as entity-relationship model, reinforcement of roles for national bibliographic agency. These study results would be utilized as basic data for authority control.

  • In this study, we proposed the FRAD concept model of authority data schema for author, organization and journal titles included in the academic papers. Academic information includes author names, affiliations, publishers, journals and conferences. They are used as access points, and there are multiple relationships among these entities. It is expected that the use of authority data for academic information based on FRAD conceptual model could improve more accurate retrieval of information, systematic management of academic information, and various forms of knowledge representation. In this study, our entity-relationship authority data will be linked to the document, and included the several properties and relationship to identify the object.

  • This study deals with the user task that is the goal of development of RDA (Resource Description & Access), an international standard for future bibliographic description. RDA seeks to implement the user task based on FRBR-FRAD model. User task could be composed of two areas: (1) find, identify, select, and obtain of bibliographic resources in information seeking and (2) find, identify, clarify, and understand of entities related to resources (i.e., person, family, corporate, concept, etc.). This research analyzes how the resource is defined with entity, attributes, and relationship in RDA based on the conceptual model of FRBR-FRAD. And this finally shows the ways of supporting user task in RDA.

  • This study suggested the interoperability of authority scheme between archives and libraries having an international authority schemes. First, this study examined the standard of archival authority ISAAR (CPF) and EAC-CPF and the library authority model FRAD, analyzed the similarities and differences between them. Finally, this study ascertained the interoperability between authority control schemes. In each area, Archives and libraries have announced the proposal to develop authority control, but the directions of two institutes was identical by and large. The direction of development of authority scheme included extending the relationship between entities, sharing the records at the international level, and actively conducting the exchange of information within other organizations.

  • FRBR family models, which is published from 1998 to 2010, will be restructured in 2016 and the new name of the model is "FRBR Library Reference Model (LRM)." FRBR LRM is a consolidated model based on the legacy FRBR family of conceptual models - FRBR, FRAD, FRSAD and the two ontological models - FRBRCore and FaBio, as well as FRBRoo, the cooperated model with museum field. In this study, therefore, FRBR LRM is analyzed in respect to background information, characteristics of the model, such as user tasks, entities, attributes, and relationships. Experimental adaptation to $prot{\acute{e}}g{\acute{e}}$ for the LRM's entities and relationships is also conducted. Through this test, the differences between the original models and the consolidated model was reviewed and the applicability of the FRBR LRM model to the semantic web is also discussed. From now on, we have to select and modify among the various FRBR related models to meet our information needs. It will be difficult to find only one Implementation Methodology for every information needs.

  • This study is to compare the descriptive cataloging rules between AACR2 and RDA, and then to find a direction of future cataloging and KCR 4. RDA is new cataloging rules that embody the International Cataloging Principles(2009), FRBR and FRAD. It is a structure of bibliographic control of all kinds of resources, and the rules can be flexibly applicable in the international cataloging community. It is critical to embody RDA in KCR 4 because RDA is likely to affect the future cataloging through its collocation function and relation function to construct semantic web of OPAC. This study analyzed the descriptive rules of work, expression, and manifestation based on RDA draft(2008) of JSC for Development of RDA. It analyzed the changes in the cataloging rules from AACR2 to RDA in such descriptive areas as title, type of resources, statement of responsibility, edition, publication, physical description and series in the manifestation level, and the preferred access points in both expression and work levels. The findings of this study will provide implications in revising KCR4.

  • FRBR and FRAD model, ICP, RDA, NCR Revision are analyzed for the composition of KCR4 Revision. Based on the results, follows are suggested. 1) Entities are divided into work, expression, manifestation, item, person, family, corporate body, concept, object, event, place. 2) Entire cataloging rules are grouped into 'attributes' and 'relationships', and then 'attributes' is divided into attributes describing and access points constructing. 3) Attributes describing is divided into attributes describing of works, expressions, manifestations, items, persons, families, corporate bodies, and arranged as the sequence. 4) Access points constructing is divided into access points constructing of works, expressions, persons, families, corporate bodies, and arranged as the sequence. 5) 'Relationships' is divided into other relationships between group 1 entities, and relationships between persons, families and corporate bodies.

  • This study is to find the new method for authority control in Korea by surveying status of authority control in university libraries and by analyzing international conceptual model of authority control and VIAF. 2 kinds of survey were done: one is for libraries having authority records and the other is for libraries not having authority records. In survey result, libraries that have authority records want to sustain their own forms of authorized access points and libraries that have no authority records want the rules related to authority and the national cooperative authority control system to be constructed. Based on ICP 2009, FRAD conceptual model, VIAF and this survey result, new authority control is to respect the diversity of forms of the authorized access points. New authority control is to permit authority records that reflect provision for linguistic or cultural environments of each library, confirming to the national cataloging code. Therefore, authorized access points will be displayed according to user preferred forms. For this new authority control, it is needed to make national authority rule, to build the authority records according to library's own rules, and to construct the cooperative authority control system. Also for user preferred authority control, it is needed to describe detailed elements for authority control and relation data between authorized access points, between authorized access points and variant forms. This study could contribute to suggest new authority control that could accept all kinds of authorized access points preferred by nation, libraries, and users.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the ways to apply describing attributes and relationships of families to Korean Cataloging Rules. In order to achieve the objective of this study, the FRAD conceptual model, and the cataloging rules such as RDA, DACS2 and KCR2 were analyzed. For describing attributes of families, this study analyzed name, type, date, place, prominent member, hereditary title, language, history, and identifier of families. For describing relationships of families, this study investigated describing relationships to families associated with each resource, such as a work, an expression, a manifestation, and an item, and describing relationships between families, relationships between families and persons, and relationships between families and corporate bodies. Based on these analyses, this study suggested the application methods of describing attributes and relationships of families in Korean Cataloging Rules.

  • This study was to suggest the construction of work and expression authority records for FRBRization. ICP, FRBR/FRAD and RDA as the content rules were referred as the framework for the construction of work and expression authority records. LC RDA authority records examples, JSC of RDA authority examples, and VIAF work and expression authority records were analyzed as case studies. 5 findings were suggested. First, authority records consist of name, work, and expression authority records which are inter-related. Second, the construction of authorized access points was suggested according to 5 work types. Third, the consideration in describing work attributes as separate element and as part of an authorized access point, and other distinguishing characteristic of the work were suggested. Fourth, the consideration in describing expression attributes as separate element and as part of an authorized access point, and other distinguishing characteristic of the expression were suggested. Fifth, 5XX was suggested for linking between work and expression. This study would contribute to revise KCR4.
