자아존중감이 노인 우울에 미치는 영향 : 가족관계만족도와 근로유형의 조절된 매개효과를 중심으로 (The Effect of Self-esteem on Elderly Depression : Moderated Mediation Effects of Family Relations Satisfaction and Working Types)

  • Object: This study investigated the effect of self-esteem on depression through family relations satisfaction and tested whether working types would moderate such associations. Method: The subjects were 2,145 elderly who are healthy enough to work and were selected for the ninth Korean Welfare Panel Study. The resulting data were analysed by using the statistical program SPSS 2.1 with reference to steps for testing mediation by Baron and Kenny, moderated mediation by Heyes. Results: Self-esteem has both direct and indirect significant effects, revealing that family relations satisfaction fully mediates the effects of coping strategies of family conflict on depression. From the working types, self-employed/employer and unpaid family worker, moderate the indirect effect of self-esteem on depression through family relations satisfaction. Conclusions: In practical intervention of elderly depression reduction, efforts to increase family relations satisfaction is effective when it is difficult to us address satisfaction. Moreover, we have to provide intervention for elderly with work in context of relationship of individual and familial factor.

가족관계가 청소년의 사회적 유능성에 미치는 영향: 자아탄력성의 매개효과 (The effect of family relations on adolescents' social competence: examining the mediating role of ego-resilience)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of family relations on adolescents' social competence. Furthermore, this study aimed to examine the mediating role of ego-resilience between those factors. Method: Two hundred and ninety-nine high school students completed measures of family cohesion, family expressiveness, ego-resilience, and social competence. T-tests, correlation and regression analyses were conducted. Results: The results reveled that family cohesion, family expressiveness, and ego-resilience were positively related to social competence. The results also revealed that family cohesion and expressiveness were significantly predicted social competence, emphasizing the role of family relations. Moreover, the association of family cohesion and expressiveness with adolescents' social competence was partially mediated by ego-resilience. Conclusions: The findings suggests that family cohesion and expressiveness contributes to adolescents' social competence directly and indirectly through ego-resilience. Results were discussed in terms of their implications for intervention to enhance social competence among adolescents.

  • Under the influence of globalization, South Korea has seen a sharp rise in interracial families. South Korean society faces various difficulties since it has not prepared for the stable settlement of families. Therefore, it is necessary to initiate marital education for the settlement of multi-cultural families in a healthy and democratic way. This researcher has developed a marital education program for multi-cultural families. To reflect the special characteristics, this work required the investigation of multi-cultural families in Gyeongsangbuk-do. The purpose of this work is to improve conjugal relations among multi-cultural families in a formative period of family relations to help those families to settle down early. The program consisted of four steps and 12 sessions. It featured an increase in application flexibility to an actual site by session, and includes a worksheet applicable to an actual site to understand the absence of communication and cultural differences in multi-cultural families during a formative period of family relations. In so doing, it was designed to easily perform nonverbal education. This work is expected to contribute to an improvement in conjugal relations of multi-cultural families in a formative period of family relations and help those families to settle down in a stable way.

주거환경이 고교생의 사회성에 미치는 영향 (The effects of the residential variables on high school students' social personality)

  • This is a study to grasp the correlation between high school students' social persenality and residential environment. THe samples were 197 boys and 200 girls who were attending the high schools located in Pusan. Social personality which contains family relations and social relations was measured by the standardized test of K.T.C. The path-analysis was used to make the causal relations of the collected data clear. RESULTS : 1. Feeling on the residential environment underwent the most potent influence by the floor space per person and social personality by feeling on the residential environment. 2. For the boy-students, the family relations andsocial relations was affected by the case of renthouse, the family relations by the case of noisy residence, and the social relations by the case of no-private room. 3. For the girl-students, the cases of higher stories and having private room made the family relations unharmonious, the cases of narrow floor space per person and the single house made the social relations troublesome, too.

청소년의 배경변인, 가정적 자아존중감, 대인관계성향이 예절수행에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Adolescent's Background, Family Self-Esteem, Interpersonal Relations Disposition on Etiquette Implementation)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of adolescent's background, family self-esteem, and interpersonal relations disposition on etiquette implementation. The subjects were chosen to include 1,119 adolescents attending middle or high schools. The results of this study were as follows: First, the degree of positive family self-esteem, a harmonious interpersonal relations disposition, and smooth etiquette implementation was high among those who were satisfied with school life, had talks with their parents often, and felt a need for etiquette education during teen years. Second, the variables affecting the adolescents' etiquette implementation were family self-esteem, understanding, communication, intimacy, trust in interpersonal relations and recognition of the necessity for etiquette education.

기혼남성의 가정건강성이 생활만족도에 미치는 영향 (A Study on the Influence of Families' Health Level on Married Men's Life Satisfaction)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of family health on life satisfaction. A survey was conducted on 577 married men from August 29 to September 22 in 2014; it was handed out via mail and hand delivery. The families's health level of married men was, strength of family relations was 3.79, the strength of environment relations was 3.41, and the strength of resources was 3.38. The families's health level of married men was family relation was 3.93, job satisfaction was 3.58, dietary life satisfaction was 3.47, and housing satisfaction was 3.16, leisure satisfaction and income satisfaction was 3.35. Further, the study shows that the health level of families is related to life satisfaction. Specifically, the strength of family relations is related with dietary satisfaction, family relations satisfaction, work life satisfaction, and housing satisfaction. The strength of environment relations is related with dietary satisfaction, life satisfaction, and leisure satisfaction. Thus, this study showed the need for more social support to improve the health levels of families and life satisfaction.

  • The objectives of the unit ‘Family Relations’in high school Home Economics Education is to help the students cultivating proper values and self-esteem, maintaining harmonious personal relations not only by understanding human relationships in family, but also by acquiring role play, and is to wisely cope with many problems occurring in social life, which are indispensable for those living in modern society. But at present it is hard for the students to gain those abilities mentioned above, for the present unit ‘Family Relations’lays special emphasis only on memorizing specific knowledge about the understanding of a family. To improve the present educational situation, this study develops a new teaching-learning method based on the role play model concerning the ‘Family Relation’area of high school Home Economics Education curriculum. This study is theoretically based on the literature and previous studies on present problems of our various family relations, and solving its problems, and suggests lesson model of role play and its effect. This study was performed as following procedures: the ‘Family Relation’unit of the present high school Home Economics Education curriculum was analyzed, and surveyed students to discover the conflicts and their solutions the high school students are now experiencing in their family relations. Accordingly, a new lesson model of the ‘Family Relation’area, applying role play was developed. Based on the developed lesson plan, two-hour classes were experimented and positive evaluation was given by students.

청소년의 성별로 본 사회화와 생활환경 (Socialization and Envirommental Factors of Adolescents According to the Gender)

  • The effects of environmental factors on adolescent’s socialization were examined according to the gender. Data were drawn from 1,412 adolescents. A hypothesized model was tested for male and female students separately by the links among housing, family conflicts, parent-adolescent relationship, family stress, peer relations, mass media, school atmosphere, consumption, consumer socialization, and adolescent’s socialization. There was no difference between male and female students in the predictability of the effects of environmental factors on internal and external socialization. For male students, the internal socialization was directly related to mass media, consumer socialization, peer relations, family stress, mother-adolescent relations, and school atmosphere. The external socialization was directly related to mass media, school atmosphere, consumer socialization, father-adolescent relations, housing, and mother-adolescent relations. For female students, the internal socialization was directly related to mass media, peer relations, father-adolescent relations, and consumer socialization. The external socialization was directly related to mass media, followed by consumer socialization, mother-adolescent relations, school atmosphere, housing, and peer relations. The findings are consistent with a growing body of literature showing that the environmental factors are related to male & female adolescent’s socialization.

Family-School Relations and School Adjustment of Children with Divorced Mothers: Testing Epstein's Parent Involvement Theory

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of family-school relations on children's school adjustment with divorced mothers. Subcategories of the family-school relations were family participation in decision making, family help for schools, learning activities at home, school help for families, and school-home communication adopted from Epstein's parent involvement theory. Sub categories of children's school adjustment were delinquent behavior and academic achievement. The sample of this study included 3,367 children from first to fifth grade who lived either in a two-parent or one-parent home. Among them, 411 children with divorced mothers were analyzed. Independent t-test, Pearson's correlations, stepwise regression analysis were all conducted. Findings suggested that children with divorced mothers showed higher delinquency and lower academic achievement than children in intact families. Sub categories of family involvement and school involvement were correlated in divorced families. Children's delinquency was predicted by three of the family-school relation factors, which were school-home communication, family help for schools, and school help for families. Children's academic achievement was predicted by ail factors.

가정정보화가 가족체계에 미치는 영향 - 인터넷사용을 중심으로 - (The Effects of Home Informatization on the Family System - Focused on Internet Use -)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of home informatization on the family system. This study is based on the systems approach. A family system is composed of two major subsystems-personal and managerial. Managerial subsystem is concerned to instrumental function, such as time management and financial management. Personal subsystem is concerned to expressive function, such as family relations and interactions. So this study attempts to analyze the effects of Internet on the family system through time management, financial management, and family relations. The results from reviewing several related researches are that home informatization through Internet use has changed time management, financial management, and family relations. Finally this study suggests three plans of home informatization for contributing to improve the quality of family living.
