  • This research investigates the effects of fashion innovativeness and technology innovativeness on the attitude and the buying intention of smart clothing. This study employs TAM(Technology Acceptance Model) proposed by Davis(1989) as a theoretical framework. Two hundred sixty-five respondents comprised a sample used to examine a structural model. The structural equation model using AMOS was performed to test hypotheses. Fashion innovativeness was found to affect perceived usefulness while technology innovativeness affected perceived ease of use. Perceived usefulness was found to influence attitude towards smart clothing. Perceived ease of use was also found to affect attitude towards smart clothing. The attitude towards smart clothing has a direct effect on the buying intention of smart clothing. In addition, this study revealed that employing TAM to investigate the adoption of smart clothing was appropriate. Lastly, implications of this research and suggestions for future studies were discussed.

  • Wearable bags are body-worn bags, integrated with clothing or accessories, and they can liberate the wearer's hands, offering enhanced mobility. The main purposes of this research were: a) to analyze wearable bag design cases ranging from historical costumes to contemporary fashion; b) to develop wearable bag designs using various defined design methods, styles, and features and prototypes; and c) to evaluate people's satisfaction with the developed wearable bags and their differences among people with different innovativeness levels. Thus, the wearable bag design cases involved in this study were researched and collected from previous literature searches. then, the wearable bag designs were developed and prototyped. Next. an evaluation survey was conducted using questions that assessed satisfaction with overall design and function, use and purchase intention, and consumer innovativeness. The results are expected to enhance the understanding of wearable bags and provide guidelines for designers who develop wearable bags. The results indicated that 80% or more of the surveyed people were satisfied with the design and function of the developed wearable bags. They perceived that the bags were easy to use and useful, and wanted to use and purchase them. Consumers with high social, functional, and hedonic innovativeness were more satisfied and perceived these wearable bags as easier to use and more useful and wanted to use and purchase them more than consumers with low innovativeness. This study can be helpful to designers developing wearable bags by providing a better understanding of wearable bags and consumer perceptions.

  • Smart healthcare clothing combines IoT, new technology, and clothing construction to perform specific care functions, and its utility has been expanding rapidly within aging and diversified societies. However, the related market remains at an early stage of development due to limited regulation, lack of consumer awareness, and the need for not only technical development but promotion plans for potential users. This paper aims to analyze factors influencing purchase intention for smart healthcare clothing with biosignal monitoring, including variables in the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), clothing attributes, health-related lifestyle factors, and fashion innovativeness. A survey was conducted on a sample of 300 males and 300 females ranging in age from 20 to 50 years, and data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0. The results show that perceived usefulness, perceived aesthetic attributes, health responsibility, and fashion innovativeness were overall significant predictors of using smart healthcare clothing. Additionally, perceived ease of use and physical activity in the male subsample, and perceived compatibility within the female group, also had significant effects. Furthermore, age was a determining factor; for subjects in the 30s age group, perceived usefulness, compatibility, and health responsibility had significant positive associations. The results of this study can provide basic guidelines for designing merchandising plans to expand user acceptance of smart healthcare clothing.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze market opportunities for Korean image fashion products, focusing on adolescents. In other words, preference, purchase intention and gift intention of adolescents on Korean image fashion products were analyzed. For this study, four stimuli which reflect Korean image were chosen. We measured design evaluation and adolescent fashion innovativeness. The subjects for this study were 219 high school students. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, ANOVA, Duncan test, cross-tabulation, correlation analysis, multiple regression. The more innovative the subject is, the higher the clothing purchase frequency and the purchase price are. Also, high-innovative group showed that they like Korean image fashion products more than low one. Product attributes such as prettiness and newness significantly influenced purchase intention for their own use and for others as a gift. In conclusion, when related marketers and scholars provide Korean image products that target adolescents, they should try to make those products more sophisticated and modern.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the antecedents of repurchase intention toward fast fashion brands. Perceived quality, perceived price, deindividuation, and overly trendy styles, which are product characteristic variables, and fashion innovativeness, which is a consumer characteristic variable, were considered as antecedents. It was hypothesized that product and consumer characteristics influence repurchase intention toward fast fashion brands not only directly, but also indirectly through cognitive dissonance. Data were gathered by surveying university students in Seoul using convenience sampling. Three hundred and fifty-two questionnaires were used in the statistical analysis. SPSS was used for exploratory factor analysis, and AMOS was used for confirmatory factor analysis and path analysis. The factor analysis of product characteristics revealed four dimensions: "perceived quality", "perceived price", "deindividuation", and "overly trendy styles", and the factor analysis of consumer characteristics revealed one dimension. The factor analysis of cognitive dissonance revealed two dimensions, "regrets" and "perceived uncertainty." The hypothesized path test proved that perceived quality, deindividuation, overly trendy styles, and fashion innovativeness influence repurchase intention directly. Perceived price and deindividuation influence repurchase intention indirectly through the factor of cognitive dissonance, which is the perceived uncertainty, indicating the importance of cognitive dissonance. The results indicate effective marketing strategies should be used to decrease consumers' cognitive dissonance, and suggestions for future study are provided.

  • This study investigates the combined effect of clothing interest and fashion innovativeness on dimensions of scent quality (pleasantness, intensity, familiarity, and congruency) to understand which dimensions of scent quality have significant positive effects on the appeal of scented apparel products. The survey data were statistically analyzed. A structural equation modeling using LISREL was conducted to test the model. Results indicate that clothing interest has a significant impact on scent quality attitude. Positive evaluations of the product were most strongly influenced by the pleasantness quality of the scent. Intensity and familiarity were factors that affected the approach of consumer responses toward scented products. Congruency was not a significant scent quality in generating positive responses for apparel products among consumers.

  • Expanding upon Zhang and Kim's (2013) study involving Chinese consumers, this study investigated key factors that influence U.S. consumers' attitude towards purchasing luxury fashion goods and purchase intent and examined what similarities and differences exist between the two consumer groups in relation to the key factors. A total of 414 respondents completed the online survey questionnaire. Structural Equation Modeling was utilized to analyze data. Brand consciousness, materialism, fashion innovativeness, and fashion involvement were significant factors that affect U.S. consumers' attitude towards luxury fashion goods. Overall, the findings of the current study were greatly inconsistent with Zhang and Kim's Chinese study. The inconsistency provides vital implications to luxury fashion retailers by showing that one size does not fit all and one strategy does not fit all markets.
