The purpose of this study was to analyze the difference in body image and apparel fashion orientation according to gender and somatotype. And the paths for the apparel fashion orientation affected by these variables were also analyzed. The data for this research were collected from questionnaires of 210 male and 180 female college students. The results of this research are as follows: It was found that subjective somatotypes of male and female college students were different from objective somatotypes and that female college students showed high degree of somatotype distortion compared to male college students. The body image was composed of three factors, interest in appearance', concern about weight' and satisfaction in appearance'. Female college students were highly interested in appearance and weight with exhibiting high interest in appearance for the persons who have a thin somatotype and in weight for the persons who have an obesity somatotype, respectively. Female college students were more closely associated with fashion than male students. The higher interest in appearance, concern about weight and satisfaction in appearance persons have, the higher degree of leadership in fashion opinion, fashion innovativeness and confidence in apparel the persons showed. Thus, female students, thin somatotypical persons or standard somatotypical persons were highly interested in appearance. The persons who are more concerned about appearance showed the high degree of leadership in fashion opinion, fashion innovativeness and confidence in apparel. And the persons who are satisfied with their appearance exhibited high leadership in fashion opinion and confidence in apparel.
The purpose of this study was to explore an intrinsic concept of 'company innovativeness' based on qualitative data obtained from 54 practitioners with at least 5 year-experience in the industry. Data were analyzed based on the grounded theory and Nvivo 2.0 program. Based on results, seven theme were generated. Seven intrinsic theme include 5 intrinsic concepts such as learning orientation, excellence of human resource, treatment for employees, market orientation and work efficiency, and 2 performance concepts such as business performance and innovation performance. These diverse concepts were considered as an important guideline in judging whether a company is innovative or not. In addition, diverse programs were provided by companies for a purpose of enhancing company innovativeness. Based on results, a research model was suggested to be elaborated in future studies. Implications and suggestions were generated based on results.
This study compares the perceived body image of female college students in Korea and Japan as well as explains the difference in the level of self-esteem, body cathexis, body image and fashion leadership based on nationality and body. The sense of fashion leadership affected by these factors was also analyzed. A high ratio of Korean and Japanese female students perceived themselves as obese compared to actual body physique. It was shown that body was highly distorted. They showed a comparatively low level of satisfaction with appearance in contrast to their high interest in their appearance and weight. Thin bodied individuals showed a high level of self-esteem and body cathexis; however, persons with an obese body showed a low level of body cathexis. They showed high interest in appearance regardless of body physique; however, they remain unsatisfied with their appearance. Individuals with an obese body and a standard somatotype showed a high concern with weight. A high fashion opinion leadership was reciprocal to a high interest in appearance and satisfaction with appearance. Korean female students showed an indirect positive effect on fashion opinion leadership through body cathexis, self-esteem, interest in appearance, and satisfaction with appearance. A thin body showed a positive effect on fashion opinion leadership and an obese body had a negative effect. Fashion innovativeness was directly influenced persons with a high degree of self-esteem and interest in appearance. Japanese female students were directly affected by fashion innovativeness; however, Korean female students were indirectly affected by fashion innovativeness through self-esteem and interest in appearance.
Using the extended technology acceptance model (TAM), the study aimed to understand consumers' adoption process for smart fashion products. The research model was designed to examine the impacts of perceived ease of use and usefulness on attitude and behavior intention toward smart fashion products based on the technology innovativeness, enjoyment, and subjective norm variables. An online survey was conducted on consumers by employing a marketing research company. A total of 230 useable responses were obtained. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was performed to test the measurement model. The proposed hypotheses were tested by employing the Structural Equation Model (SEM). The results found a positive impact of perceived ease of use on usefulness and a positive influence of usefulness on attitude and behavior intention. Attitude had a positive effect on behavior intention. In addition, technology innovativeness was found to have a positive influence on perceived ease of use and enjoyment had a positive influence on usefulness and attitude. Subjective norm predicted behavior intention. The findings of the study contribute to smart fashion literature and have important implications for smart fashion product developers and marketers, as they offer insights into the important role of technology innovativeness, enjoyment, and subjective norms perceived by consumers in improving attitudes and behavior intentions toward the products. Limitations and future research directions are discussed.
This study examines consumer's acceptance intention of sensor-based smart clothing empolying the extended TAM. Technology innovativeness, information innovativeness and trust were used as external variables and perceived palyfulness was included in the extetended TAM. Data were collected from the adults over 20 years old living in Daegu from March 14 to 18, 2011. 193 useful copies of data were analyzed to investigate a structural model and test research hypotheses using AMOS 7.0. The study results showed that the extended TAM for smart clothing was validated empirically in predicting the individual's acceptance of sensor-based smart clothing and 10 hypotheses among 12 hypotheses were supported. Technology innovation, information innovation, and trust were confirmed as antecedent variables in affecting extended TAM. Perceived usefulness and perceived playfulness directly influenced acceptance intention and indirectly influenced acceptance intention mediating attitude. Perceived usefulness affected perceived playfulness and attitude affected acceptance intention. This study will help marketers and managers of fashion companies devise effective tools in planning marketing strategies related to smart clothing.

This study investigated the purchase intention of green fashion products based on Rogers' Diffusion of Innovation theory and compared the differences between Korean and British consumers. In order to identify the impact of personal characteristics, this study also examined the effects of fashion innovativeness and LOHAS tendency on perceived attributes of innovation and intention to purchase. With a convenience sampling method, a survey questionnaire was distributed at popular fashion streets in each country. A total of 426 data were obtained, 203 from the UK and 223 from Korea. About 52% were females, and 69% were in their twenties. A factor analysis generated two LOHAS factors (health concerns and eco concerns) and four attributes of green fashion products (image improvement, symbolic superiority, observability, and compatibility). Two types of green fashion products (organic cotton t-shirts and organic cotton t-shirts with an environmental message) were provided to measure the purchase intention, respectively. The findings were as follows. British consumers were more likely to show LOHAS tendency and to perceive positive advantages of green products compared to Koreans; in addition, British consumers presented higher mean scores on the purchase intentions of organic cotton products. Fashion innovativeness was significant to predict image improvement and symbolic superiority, while eco concerns were significant in compatibility for both nations. Compatibility was important for both countries in order to explain the intention to adopt two types of organic products. In addition, image improvement was another predictor for purchase intention of organic t-shirts with an environmental message. Managerial implications were provided.
People are exposed to diverse images and naturally find images to express themselves to others for personalsatisfaction. They present ideal images that they desire to obtain or actual images that they already have. People find differences between ideal images and actual images as well astry to overcome differences by managing appearance or purchasing fashion items. The congruence between real and ideal self-images and perceived body images stimulate clothing involvement or consumer confidence to influence fashion innovativeness and fashion opinion leadership. Fashion leaders are known for confidence when making buying decisions on new fashion products and are more likely to influence other consumers to buy new items. This study useda structural equation model to understand the influence of perceived self and body image on clothing involvement and consumer confidence as well as define how perceived images influence fashion leadership through clothing involvement and consumer confidence. The results of this study indicated that self-image congruence has a positive impact on social body image and personal body image. A positive influence of perceived body image on clothing involvement and consumer confidence was also detected. Fashion opinion leadership could be explained by clothing involvement and consumer confidence; however, fashion innovativeness could only be explained by consumer confidence.
The purpose of this research was to find out the most explainable variables influencing fashion leadership. This research was carried out by both the theoretical and empirical study. For the theoretical study, the research of fashion leadership was based on the fashion opinion leadership and innovativeness. The study included the analysis of variables influencing fashion leadership, such as clothing importance, clothing conformity, clothing anticonformity, perceived risk of clothing, use of fashion information source and demographic variables. For the empirical study, fashion leadership was measured by fashion opinion leadership and innovativeness. The variables influencing on the fashion leadership were measured by self-image, social participation, clothing behaviors(clothing importance, normative conformity, identificational conformity, clothing anticonformity, clothing independance), demographic variables(major fields of students, year of education, family income). Data were obtained from 335 female college and university students in Chung-Buk area by self-administered questionaire. The data collected through the questionaire were analyzed by the stastical thechique-stepwise regression. The results of the study were as follow: 44.6 percent of the total variance of fashion leadership was explained by the five variables: Clothing importance, use of marketer-dominated fashion information source, identificational conformity, traditional-modern self image and clothing anticonformity. Family income and the major fields of students are significantly related to the fashion leadership.

This study aims to investigate the effects of fashion information search and innovativeness of consumers on service quality of image search. Furthermore, it focuses on exploring the effect of image search service quality on use intention. Data of mobile-friendly consumers in their 20s and 30s was collected in September 2021 via an online survey. Finally, 300 samples were used for the data analysis. First, motivation for information search in fashion was divided into four factors: information, relation, leisure, and entertainment motivation. Furthermore, service quality of image search was divided into four factors: accuracy, convenience, customization, and aesthetics. Second, regression analysis was conducted to evaluate the effect of fashion information search motivation on service quality. As a result, it was found that information, relation, and entertainment motivation except leisure motivation had significant effects on all factors of service quality. Third, fashion innovativeness had no significant effect on aesthetics while consumer innovativeness significantly influenced all factors of service quality. Fourth, accuracy, convenience, and aesthetics had a significant effect on use intention.
This study aimed to investigate the associations between clothing consumption values and the ambivalent clothing consuming behavior of young female adults. To explain the ambivalent consuming behavior prevailing in the contemporary fashion market, five dimensional consumption values proposed by Sheth(1991) were adopted as explanatory factors, and fashion leadership and spending were included as moderating factors. Data collecting using written survey instrument yielded one hundred and seventy two complete responses from female consumers aged between 20 and 39. Factor analysis on clothing consumption values resulted in five dimensional structures of consumption values for the sample: expressive, epistemic, functional, social, and fashionable values. Among these, expressive, functional, and social values significantly affected ambivalent consuming behavior. The effect of expressive value was strong regardless of fashion innovativeness, opinion-leadership, and monthly income of consumers, however, the effects of epistemic, functional, and social values were changed depending on the moderating factors.
