  • 본 논문에서는 미국의 분산전원 연계용 PCS에 적용되는 Grid Code인 IEEE1547 Amendment의 fault ride-through에 대해 기술한다. IEEE 1547은 2014년 Amendment가 발행되었으며, 전압/주파수에 대한 사고판단 능력이 업데이트 되어 fault ride-through의 범위가 변경되었다. 개정된 IEEE1547a의 기준을 분석하고, 이를 적용한 fault ride-through 기능을 PSIM 시뮬레이션을 통하여 검증하였다.

Distance Relaying Algorithm for Intertie Protection of a Wind Farm Considering the Fault Ride-through Requirement (Fault ride-through 요구를 고려한 풍력발전단지 연계선 보호 거리계전 알고리즘)

  • A large modern wind farm should satisfy the requirements for a grid and accomplish the optimization of the wind farm system. The wind farm intertie protection system should consider a Fault Ride-Through (FRT) requirement for more reliable protection. The wind farm should keep connected to the grid in the case of a grid fault whilst it should be isolated for an intertie fault. This paper proposes a distance relaying algorithm suitable for wind farm intertie protection considering the FRT requirement. The proposed algorithm estimates the impedance based on a differential equation method because the frequency of the voltage and current deviates the nominal frequency. The algorithm extends the reach of Zone 1 up to 100 % of the length of the intertie to implement the FRT requirement. To discriminate an intertie fault from a grid fault, the algorithm uses a voltage blocking scheme because the magnitude of the voltage at the relaying point for an intertie fault becomes less than that for a grid fault. The performance of the algorithm is verified using a PSCAD/EMTDC simulator under various fault conditions. The algorithm can discriminate successfully the intertie fault from grid fault and thus helps to implement the FRT requirement of a wind farm.

  • A hybrid HVDC system that is composed of line commutated converter (LCC) at the rectifier side and voltage source converter (VSC) in series with LCC at the inverter side is studied in this paper. The start-up strategy, DC fault ride-through capability, and fault recovery strategy for the hybrid HVDC system are proposed. The steady state and dynamic performances under start-up, AC fault, and DC fault scenarios are analyzed based on a bipolar hybrid HVDC system. Furthermore, the immunity of the LCC inverter in hybrid HVDC to commutation failure is investigated. The simulation results in PSCAD/EMTDC show that the hybrid HVDC system exhibits favorable steady state and dynamic performances, in particular, low susceptibility to commutation failure, excellent DC fault ride-through, and fast fault recovery capability. Results also indicate that the hybrid HVDC system can be a good alternative for large-capacity power transmission over a long distance byoverhead line.

  • 전력계통에서의 풍력 발전의 설치가 증가하면서 사고 발생시 전체 계통에 대한 신뢰도 및 안정도에 영향을 미친다. 이를 고려한 Fault Ride Through 제어 기법은 보다 안정적인 계통운영을 위한 방안이다. 최근 대부분의 풍력발전시스템은 이중여자 유도형 발전시스템(DFIG)이 설치되는데, 이는 전력변환장치를 이용한 유효 및 무효 전력 제어가 가능한 가변속 풍력발전시스템이다. 본 논문은 PSCAD/EMTDC를 통해 DFIG를 모델링하고 Crow Bar와 Rotor Side Converter의 연계 제어를 이용한 Fault Ride Through 제어 기법을 시뮬레이션 결과를 통해 확인 하였다.

  • 신재생에너지인 풍력발전이 우수한 실효성 및 경제성으로 인하여 보급이 지속적으로 증가되고 있다. 전력계통에서 발생하는 단락 및 지락고장은 고장 인접 풍력발전 설비 보호를 위해 풍력발전기를 계통으로부터 분리한다. 전력공급 신뢰도와 계통운영의 안정도를 향상시키기 위해서 풍력발기가 Fault-ride through 기능을 갖도록 하여 이를 보완한다. 본 논문에서 과도안정도 해석 프로그램을 이용하여 Fault-ride through 중요 변수인 전압저하 정도 및 고장지속 시간 등을 모의하여 실제 계통에 적용 가능한 모형을 제안한다.

  • Fault Ride Through(FRT) requirement prevents disconnections of distributed generations during the specific time on disturbance condition for system stability. However, since there is a limitation to the FRT capability of distributed generation, and the protection system needs to clear the fault quickly before the distributed generation is disconnected. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel optimal setting method of directional overcurrent relay considering FRT of distributed generation. The proposed method reduces the probability of disconnections of the distributed generation in disturbance without additional equipment considering the FRT capability of the distributed generation by calculating the optimal relay setting through the Genetic Algorithm(GA).

  • A large wind farm should satisfy the requirements for a grid and accomplish the optimization of the wind farm system. In that point of view, the wind farm intertie protection system, which must consider the Fault Ride-Through (FRT) requirement for more reliable protection, should be improved. This paper proposes a modified distance relay suitable for protection of a wind farm intertie considering a FRT requirement. The frequency change is used to discriminate the intertie fault from a outside zone fault. The performance of the proposed algorithm is verified using a PSCAD/EMTDC simulator.

  • 최근 분산전원시스템에서는 계통의 전압 이상 시에도 일정시간 동안 계통 연계운전을 유지해야할 뿐만 아니라 계통 전압의 빠른 회복을 위해 무효전력을 공급하는 Fault Ride-Through(FRT) 규정이 요구되고 있다. 그러나 시스템 구성에 따라 무효전력 공급시 직류링크의 전압이 상승하여 과전압 폴트가 발생하여 FRT 규정을 준수할 수 없는 문제가 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 FRT 규정을 준수함과 동시에 직류링크 전압 상승을 방지할 수 있는 보상기법을 제안하였다.

  • 풍력 발전기의 계통 연계 기준에서 Fault Ride Through 규정은 사고 시 계통의 응동 특성을 결정하기 때문에 해당 계통의 특징을 반영하여 결정되어야 한다. 이에 여기에서는 세계 각국의 풍력발전기에 적용되는 Grid code에 대해 분석하고, 이를 바탕으로 FRT 규정의 수립에 필요한 기술적 요건에 대해 검토한 후, 해당 규정 수립을 위한 방법론을 제시한다. 이때, 구체적인 parameter 설정은 제주계통을 대상으로 PSS/E를 이용한 안정도 모의 결과에 따라 사고 시 계통의 전압 특성을 반영할 수 있도록 하였다.

  • This paper proposes an impedance design method of the test device for evaluating Low Voltage Ride Through(LVRT) and High Voltage Ride Through(HVRT) functions. The LVRT/HVRT test device should have ability to generate the fault voltage specified in the grid code for a certain period and to limit the magnitude of the fault current with the design specification. In this paper, the impedance design method for auto transformer is proposed based on a equivalent model of a tap-change auto-transformer during LVRT/HVRT operation. In addition, to generate various fault voltages required the LVRT/HVRT test, tap impedance design in the auto transformer is considered. To verify the validity of the proposed design method, the design process of the 10MVA LVRT/HVRT test device was conducted and the design results was verified through simulation models.
