Design and Implement Mobile IoT Systems for Fencing Training : focus on Épée (펜싱 훈련을 위한 모바일 IoT 시스템 설계 및 구현 : 에페 종목을 중심으로)

  • Recently, interest in fencing is getting increased in Korea due to good results in international fencing competitions and its exposure to the media. However, one of the difficult factors in entering fencing is the cost of initial equipment purchases. Solving this can contribute to expanding the base of fencing. For this reason, this study designed and developed a system that can replace the function of the remote control with a mobile application using Bluetooth communication and learn the function of the fencing scoreboard and fencing terms in French. Through interviews, fencing leaders and club members were asked to find out what was necessary in this study, and to mention the pros and cons of the test operation. It is expected that the fencing scoreboard will be lightweight and small, and it will help to spread fencing through cost reduction.

Comparison of the Difference of Ankle Range of Motion and Hip Strength in Both Legs of Fencing Athletes with Ankle Instability

  • Background: Ankle sprain in the Lead Leg Side (ALLS) is common in fencing athletes, and studies comparing the ankle range of motion (ROM) and strength of both legs are insufficient. Objectvies: To compare the ankle ROM and hip strength between two legs in fencing athletes who has ankle instability in the lead leg side. Design: Cross-sectional design. Methods: Seven fencing athletes with ankle instability participated in this study, and they randomly assigned into ankle in the Lead Leg Side (ALLS) and ankle in the Rear Leg Side (ARLS). Instability was determined by the Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool (CAIT), and then joint ROM and hip muscle strength were measured. Results: There were significant differences in dorsiflexion ROM, hip strength (extension and abduction) between the ALLS with ankle instability and ARLS (P<.05). Conclusion: This study suggests that the ankle ROM and hip muscle strength of ARLS are greater than ALLS in fencing athletes with ankle instability.

  • In fencing, athletes must hit opponents by the sword of fencing, so they need long reach between their foot and their tip of the sword. We thought the motion of shoulder joint, mainly scapula, is one of the important roles in this action and noticed the difference of right and left side in muscles around scapula caused by this action. We evaluated these muscles with MRI imaging in 5 high-level athletes of fencing who aims at the next Olympics (3 men and 2 women, their average age is 21 years). Besides we observed their physical measurement related with these muscles. We reported the characteristics of these results.

Measuring Landscape Value of Jeju Island's Stonewall Fencing Farming Land for the Introduction of Direct Payment System of the Landscape Preservation (경관보전직불제 도입을 위한 제주밭담의 경관가치 평가)

  • The dichotomous-choice contingent valuation method is applied to estimate the landscape value of Jeju Island's stonewall fencing farming land. A distribution-free approach, Turnbull empirical distribution model, is employed to solve negative willingness to pay and truncation problems. The data used are collected from the interviews with tourist about willingness-to-pay at the various donation amount levels of Jeju stonewall's landscape value. The evaluation result is shown that the average amount of willingness to pay for the Jeju stonewall fencing farming land is 3,001 won per meter with standard deviation of 511.0 won/m.

The change of Psychological skills strategy and Self-management behavior according to the level of Resourcefulness of Fencing-Athlete (대학 펜싱선수들의 심리교육 효과: 자원동원성 수준에 따른 심리기술과 자기관리행동의 변화를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to change of Psychological skills strategy and Self-management behavior according to the level of Resourcefulness of collegiate fencing-athletes. Methods: This study was a single case for 12-week intervention. and it took about 60-90 minutes, once a week. Participants were 154 Student athletes and 20 fencing-athletes. The effect of this study was utilized a questionnaire. To analyze the responses of research, the paired t-test were used for finding the significances of mean differences(p<.05). After 12 week education session the results are as follows: Firstly, high group of Resourcefulness showed greater increase in Attention and Image. low group of Resourcefulness showed greater increase in Will power, Goal Setting, Confidence, Attention, Image. Secondly, high group of Resourcefulness showed greater increase in Physical management. low group of Resourcefulness showed greater increase in Training management. fencing-athletes were significantly increased of capacity for Performance and self-management according to the level of Resourcefulness, after 12-weeks. This study suggested useful information about sport psychological skills training and intervention of fencing-athletes.

Development of Response Time Measuring Apparatus for Fencing (펜싱 훈련용 반응시간 측정장치 개발)

  • In this study, we developed a response time measuring apparatus for fencing which can use fencing athlete's own electric sword and connectors. The measuring apparatus designed to be connected to upper back of dummy body and it's position can be changed by spinning itself. And it operates like a closed circuit composed of dummy helmet, the apparatus, reel signal connection, connector and electric sword of athlete. This measuring apparatus can provide response time to athlete immediately which response time is measured from the time of indicating random signal of light and sound to the time of attacking dummy by athlete. we carried out pilot test for couch and athlete of national fencing team and could validate availability of this system.

Influence of Goal Orientation and Self-management of Fencing Epee Players on Psychological Skills (펜싱 에페선수의 성취목표성향과 자기관리가 심리기술에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, 109 athletes participating in the national fencing Epee competitions in 2017 were sampled. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of achievement goal orientation and self - management on psychological skills of fencing Epee athletes. The research tools used to achieve these research objectives are psychological techniques developed by Kim, Byung - joon (2001), a sports achievement goal orientation test paper, and an athlete self - management questionnaire developed by Huh Jung - hoon (2001) I used the questionnaires. The results obtained were analyzed by SPSS 22.0 program, test validity and reliability test, frequency analysis, Pearson 's correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. First, task orientation and interpersonal management, mental management, self - orientation and training management, interpersonal management, mental management, team harmony, body management and anxiety control, mental management and team harmony have significant correlations. The relationship between goal orientation, self - management, and psychological skills was found to be correlated. Second, to analyze the effect of achievement goal orientation and self-management on psychological skills, multiple regression analysis showed that there was no statistically significant effect but the subordinate had a partial effect.

  • Maintenance and reinforcement are very important especially in the case of the hybrid structures. In this paper, we introduce the maintenance and reinforcement design method of cable dome structures. In the case of the Olympic fencing stadium structural system has the stiffness in dependence of the initial tension force. Therefore, the verification of this phenomenon is very important. The result shows that the final tension force which is measured is almost reached to the calculated aim tension force after the maintenance ana reinforcement works is confirmed.

  • 기후변화 및 도심화로 인해 해마다 더 큰 규모의 다양하고 복잡한 재난들이 발생했고 발생하고 있다. 2022년을 기준으로 살펴보면, 3월 열흘동안 진행되었던 동해안 일대의 대규모 산불, 8월 초 수도권 집중호우, 9월 초 한반도를 통과한 초대형 태풍 제 11호 힌남노 등 다양한 종류의 대형 재난이 발생하였다. 본 논문은 재난이 발생하였을 때 재난정보를 전달하는 방식 중에서 이동통신망을 이용하는 긴급재난문자에 대한 것으로, 재난이 발생한 특정 지역에 정밀하게 효율적으로 재난정보를 제공하기 위한 지오펜싱(Geo-Fencing)을 적용하는 방식에 대해서 다룬다. 현재 긴급재난문자는 발령 최소 단위가 시군구로 제한되었기 때문에 예를 들어 심야시간에 발생한 특정 건물 화재등과 같은 재난에 대해서는 발령하는데 어려움이 있었다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 지오펜싱 기법을 적용하면, 읍면동보다 좁은 지역에도 긴급재난문자를 발령할 수 있게 되어 특정 지역에 국한된 재난에 대한 정보전달을 신속, 효율적으로 제공 가능하며 이를 통해 궁극적으로는 인명 피해 및 경제적 피해를 감소시킬 수 있게 될 것으로 예상된다.

Comparison of Dynamic Muscle Activation during Fente Execution in Fencing Between Wearing Weighted and Waterbag Vests

  • Objective: This study aimed to compare the activity of the trunk and leg muscles while performing fente (in fencing) wearing weighted and waterbag vests. Method: The electromyography test was used to measure and analyze the activation of the trunk and leg muscles. Eight active fencers from B University (age: 19.5 ± 0.66 years, height: 179.75 ± 5.93 cm, weight: 72 ± 6.32 kg) were selected for this study. Results: According to the EMG analysis results of the 4 muscles measured in this study, left-right differences were observed for rectus abdominis and external oblique abdominis, but left-right differences between the groups were not significant. The gluteus medius muscle was not significantly different from the adductor muscle, but there were significant differences between the groups. Conclusion: The electromyographic analysis of the four muscles measured in this study revealed no significant difference between the left and right recti abdominis and external obliques depending on the vests. However, significant differences were observed between the left and right gluteus medius and adductor longus. Our results can be interpreted as the effects of the inherent movements involved in the fente. Furthermore, our results indicate that the weight transfer while wearing a waterbag vest, which provides an unstable environment, increased the activity of leg muscles.
