The changes in microstructure and texture during annealing were examined in a series of 0.015% C-1.5% Mn cold-rolled sheet steels with 0~0.5% Mo. Orientation distribution function data were calculated from the (110), (200), (211) pole figures determined on the rolled plane of cold-rolled and annealed steel sheets. Regardless of Mo content and annealing conditions, martensite volume fraction was less than 1.0%, not affecting the texture evolution. Textural change at the cooling stage after heating at $820^{\circ}C$ for 67 sec was not observed. Increasing the Mo content and annealing temperature markedly strengthened the intensities of ${\gamma}$-fiber texture, resulting in the increase in $r_m$ value. The desirable texture evolution for deep drawability in the 0.5% Mo steel may be mainly caused by the grain refining effect of Mo carbide in the hot-rolled steel sheet.

Composites are a material class for which nondestructive material property characterization is as important as flaw detection. Laminates of fiber reinforced composites often possess strong in-plane elastic anisotropy attributable to the specific fiber orientation and layup sequence when waves are propagating in the thickness direction of composite laminates. So the layup orientation greatly influences its properties in a composite laminate. It could result in the part being .ejected and discarded if the layup orientation of a ply is misaligned. A nondestructive technique would be very beneficial, which could be used to test the part after curing and requires less time than the optical test. Therefore a ply-by-ply vector decomposition model has been developed, simplified, and implemented for composite laminates fabricated from unidirectional plies. This model decomposes the transmission of a linearly polarized ultrasound wave into orthogonal components through each ply of a laminate. Also in order to develop these methods into practical inspection tools, motorized system have been developed for different measurement modalities for acquiring ultrasonic signals as a function of in-plane angle. It is found that high probability shows between the model and tests developed in characterizing cured layups of the laminates.

The apparent advantages of FRP (fiber reinforced plastics) composites over the conventional structural materials may be attributed to their high specific strength and stiffness. Other affordable properties of FRPs including an excellent durability make them particularly attractive for the structures in severe service conditions. Therefore, the material and sectional properties of a FRP structural component should be designed to meet its specific requirements and service conditions. This paper is performed the material property optimization under optimum design of pultruded FRP bridge deck section. In the problem formulation, an objective function is selected to minimize the maximum R(strength ratio). The thickness of layers, volumes of fibers and matrix fiber orientation, and stacking sequence of FRPs are used as the design variables. Strength ratio in the design code, material failure criteria and pultruded manufacture thickness are selected as the design constraints to enhance the material performance of FRP decks. From the results of the numerical investigation, we obtained the optimum deck section profile for conventional using object.
A polyacrylonitrile(PAN)-based carbon fiber tow was heat-treated by directly passing electric current through the tow. The effects of the stretching stress applied during high temperature heat-treatment of PAN-based carbon fibers were investigated by measuring the electric resistance changes taking place during the internal resistance heating. The structure parameters characterizing the stacks of carbon layer, such as interlayer spacing, sizes and orientation of the carbon fibers heat-treated with hot-stretching were evaluated as a function of surface temperature of tow during heat treatment in the range of $1000~2400^{\circ}C$. Though the layer extent in the fiber axis direction depends strongly on the electric resistance, the changes in a crystallite parameter is independent of the longitudinal strain.

CFRP composite materials have been widely used in various fields of engineering because of their excellent properties. They show high specific stiffness and specific strength compared with metallic materiasl. Woven CFRP composite materials are fabricated from carbon fibers with two orientation angles ($0^{\circ}/90^{\circ}$), which influences the mechanical properties. Therefore, woven CFRP composite materials show different types of fracture behavior according to the load direction. Therefore, the fracture behavior of these materials needs to be evaluated according to the load direction when designing structures using these materials. In this study, we evaluate the fracture strength of plain-woven CFRP composite materials according to the load direction. We performed tests for six different angles (load direction: $0^{\circ}/90^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}/-60^{\circ}$, $+45^{\circ}/-45^{\circ}$) and estimated the fracture strength for an arbitrary fiber angle by using the modified Tan's theory and harmonic function.
Buckling and vibration characteristics of circular laminated plates under in-plane edge loads and resting on Winkler-type foundation are solved by the Ritz method. Inclusive numerical data are presented for the first three eigen-frequencies as a function of in-plane load for different classical edge conditions. Moreover, the effects of fiber orientation on the natural frequencies and critical buckling loads of laminated angle-ply plates with stacking sequence of $[({\beta}/-{\beta}/{\beta}/-{\beta})]_s$, are studied. Also, selected deformation mode shapes are illustrated. The correctness of results is established using finite element software as well as by comparison with the existing results in the literature.

The main purpose of this study is the vibration suppression of rotating composite blade containing distributed piezoelectric sensors and actuators. The blade is modeled by thin-walled, single cell composite beam including the warping function, centrifugal force, Coriolis acceleration and piezoelectric effect. Further, the numerical study is performed m ing finite element method. The vibration of composite rotor is suppressed by piezocomposite actuators and PVDF sensors that are embedded between composite layers. A velocity feedback control algorithm coupling the direct and converse piezoelectric effect is used to actively control the' dynamic response of an integrated structure through a closed control loop. Responses of the rotating blade are investigated. Newmark time integration method is used to calculate the time response of the model. In the numerical simulation, the effect of parameters such as rotating speed, fiber orientation of the blade and size of actuators are studied in detail.

Machined graphite/epoxy composite surfaces were studied by using SEM(Scanning Electron Microscopy). surface profilometry and its analysis to determine suitable surface describing parameters for machined unidirectional and laminate composite surface. The surface roughness and profile are found to be highly dependent on the fiber layup direction and the measurement direction. Machined unidirectional and 0.deg. 45 .deg. 90 .deg. plies in laminate composite surface profiles are found to be Gaussian in the direction of machining. Since there exist bare fibers without matrix smearing in 0 .deg. ply, higher surface roughness values were found in this orientation. It was possible to machine 90 .deg. and -45 .deg. plies due to the adjacent plies, which were holding those plies. It was found that the microgeometrical variations in terms of roughness parameters Ra without Dy (maximum Damage Depth) region and Dy are better descriptors of the machined laminate composite surface than commonly used roughness parameters Ra and Ra. The characteristics of surface profiles in laminate composite are well represented in CHD (Cumulative Height Distribution) plot and PPD (Percentage Probability Density) plot. Also, the power spectral density function is shown to be capable of identifying the wavelength distribution of the machining damage.
The general solution of the anti-plane shear problem for the curved interfacial crack between viscoelastic foam and composites was investigated with the complex variable displacement function. Kelvin-Maxwell three parameter model is used to present viscoelasticity and the Laplace transform was applied to treat the viscoelastic characteristics of foam in the analysis. The stress intensity factor near the interfacial crack tip was predicted by considering both anisotropic and viscoelastic properties of two different materials. The results showed that the stress intensity factor increased with increasing the curvature of the curved interfacial crack and it also increased and eventually converged to a specific value with increasing time. The stress intensity factor increased with increasing the ratio of stiffness coefficients between foam and composites and the effect of fiber orientation on the stress intensity factor decreased with increasing the ratio of stiffness coefficients between foam and composites.

In this study, we evaluated the effect of the molecular weight of the polymer on electrospun poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) nonwovens, and their mechanical properties as a function of the linear velocity of drum surface. Polymer solutions and electrospun PET nonwovens were characterized by means of viscometer, tensiometer, scanning electron microscope(SEM), wide angle X-ray diffraction measurement (WAXD) and universal testing machine (UTM). By keeping the uniform solution viscosity, regardless of molecular weight differences, electrospun PET nonwovens with similar average diameter could be obtained. In addition, the mechanical properties of the electrospun PET nonwovens were strongly dependent on the linear velocity of drum surface. From the results of the WAXD scan, it was found that the polymer took on a particular molecular orientation when the linear velocity of drum surface was increased. The peaks became more definite and apparent, evolving from an amorphous pattern at 0 m/min to peaks and signifying the presence of crystallinity at 45 m/min.
