  • This paper presents a method to estimate an effective length of a 1000-kVA superconducting generator using three-dimensional FE analysis. Flux linkage of stator coil and the induced voltage are calculated with FEM program and Faraday's law. An effective length of the stator coil is estimated using the calculated voltage and geometric configurationn of the machine. In order to verify the estimation method, 30-kVA superconducting generator is built and tested. The test result agrees reasonably well with the estimation.

  • Carbon nanotubes(CNTs) have excellent electrical, mechanical and chemical properties. In this paper, the variation of charge density and resistivity in MWCNT gas sensor were defined by three Dimensional Finite element method, and an accurate description of equivalent circuit of MWCNT gas sensor was investigated.

  • Developed is a chloride penetration analysis program that can consider a concrete surface coating. The effect of concrete surface coating on the service life is simulated by the developed finite element program. It was revealed that the coating at the earlier age is the more effective way to extend the service life.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to identify the important parameters and to examine their relations to one another while gantry crane structure was modeled. The important elements of the structural analysis are included, such as the stiffness matrix and its relations to the degrees of freedom, the displacement, and frequency responses. To investigate these relations, the parametric modeling of a dynamic system is solved by using the finite element method (ANSYS-Program). Furthermore, EXPRESS schema and C-FAR (change favorable representation) are described how to change the frame length of gantry crane which influences other elements. Since this relationship is established, the results may...

  • To evaluate the bending collapse behavior of an aluminum square tube, a finite element simulation for the four-point bending test was suggested. Local buckling deformation near the center of an aluminum tube specimen was induced which has been partly inserted by two steel bars. Simulation results showed good agreements with those of experiment.

  • For the numerical solution of frictional dynamic contact problems, correct contact points and displacements are determined by iteratively reducing the displacement error vector monotonically toward zero And spurious oscillations are prevented from the solution by enforcing the velocity and acceleration compatibilities of the contact points with the corresponding error vectors. Numerical simulations are conducted to demonstrate the accuracy of the solution and the necessity of the velocity and acceleration compatibilities on the contact surface.

  • Optimization of structure of a high-precision stamping press structure is performed by combination of Taguchi Method and finite element analysis. Too much difference in the stiffness between hydrostatic bearing linear guide and press structure is observed. Efforts are made to level up the stiffness of press structure to the level of hydrostatic bearing's. Some important design parameters are identified and discussed.
