A Study on the Noise Correction Factor in Apartment Complex (공동주택에서의 소음보정계수에 관한 연구)

  • Road traffic noise has increasing broader effects on urban areas as well as rural areas because of rapidly increasing traffic volume and newly-constructed roads. 10 sites in building development areas were selected and the noise level were measured by the apartment floors and by the various block plans of apartment complex. Analysis result, about correction factor, in the case of right angle arrangement, apply - 2.5dB(A). In the case of apartment house correlation of each floor apply 1st floors 0dB(A), 2st floors 1.2dB(A), 3st floors 2.1dB(A), 4st floors 2.6dB(A), 5st floors 2.7dB(A), 6st floors 2.7dB(A), 7st floors 2.4dB(A), 8st floors 2.0dB(A), 9st floors 1.6dB(A), 10st floors 1.1dB(A), 13st floors 0.2dB(A), 15st floors 0.5dB(A). The level of road traffic noise in the arrangement construction of right angle was about 3.0dB(A) at N-4 point and 2.1dB(A) at N-6 point lower than that of a plan figure, respectively. The results suggested that application of correction coefficient obtained by the apartment floor and by the arrangement construction can be improved in road traffic noise. A Study on Solar Radiation Analysis and Saving Elements of Heating Load according to the Location and Type of Housing in Multi-family Apartments (공동주택 주동형태별 세대위치에 따른 일사분석 및 난방부하 절감요소에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to evaluate the correlation between vertical solar radiation and the level of heating load according to the location and type of housing in multi-family apartments. This study shows that heating load is related with factors such as wall loss, window loss, ventilation loss and solar radiation gain. The heating load increases in the order of the middle floors, the highest floors and the lowest floors. The lowest and the highest floors are the most vulnerable floors, and it should be as emphasized as the middle floors. The heating load saving proposal contains 52 Alt. that shows heating load savings from min. 4% to max. 49%. The goal is to reduce the heating load of the highest and the lowest floors to the level of the middle floors. The result showed that there are 3 Alt. for the lowest floors and 16 Alt. for the highest floors as the heating load saving proposal. This study suggests integrated application to compose saving elements of heating load. so it could be utilized as a data for the construction of passive houses.

Resident Preference Trends and Perceptions Regarding Royal Floors in High-rise Housing - Questionnaire Survey from Residents and Realtors of One through Four of the Jamshil Redeveloped Apartment Complexes - (아파트 로열층에 대한 선호도 변화 및 인식 특성에 대한 연구 - 서울 잠실재건축단지 거주자 및 부동산중개업자 설문조사를 중심으로 -)

  • Although the term royal floors is broadly used in high-rise housing, it is hard to find any clear scholarly definition of this term or any in-depth study exploring people's perceptions of it. This study reviewed ongoing discussions about concepts and definitions regarding royal floors, collected opinions from high-rise housing residents and realtors about the term, and compared the opinions of these two groups. First, the statistically analyzed results verified five main factors affecting people's perceptions of royal floors: locational characteristics (i.e., daylight, view, orientation), 2) price characteristics (i.e., premium, price increase level, number of houses on urgent sale), 3) best location of apartment building (i.e., location within a neighborhood, unit size), 4) architectural characteristics of apartment complex (i.e., size of complex, housing type, size options of units), and 5) personal characteristics of respondents (i.e., personal concepts of the meaning of housing, lifestyles). Results from the analysis showed that realtors perceived strong relationships between royal floors and 1) locational and 2) price characteristic factors, while residents perceived strong relationships between royal floors and personal preference as well as three factors from the five identified above: 1) locational, 2) price, and 4) architectural characteristics. Third, in defining royal floors in a building, the past rule of 1/4 is no longer effective. Instead, the rule of 1/n has become more prevalent (i.e., 1/6 to 1/8). Fourth, royal floors can be defined as the 15th to 25th floors in a 30-story high-rise housing structure based on the agreement of 50% of residents and 70% of realtors.

Assessment of Road Traffic Noise by Apartment Floor and Arrangement Construction of Building in Apartment Complex (아파트단지에서 아파트 층별 및 배치구조에 따른 도로교통소음 평가)

  • The road traffic noise has been increasing broader effects on urban areas as well as rural areas because of rapidly increasing traffic volume and newly-constructed roads. 10 sites in building development areas were selected and the noise levels were measured by the apartment floors and by the various block plans of apartment complex. The results showed that the highest traffic noise level was obtained at the 5 and 7 floors on the apartment floors. On the basis of 7 floor with the highest level, the correction coefficient obtained from noise reduction by each floor and measurement point was -5.54 dB(A)(1st floors), -0.96 dB(A)(3rd floors), -0.38 dB(A)(5th floors), 0.00 dB(A)(7th floors), -1.98 dB(A)(l0th floors), -3.10 dB(A)(13th floors), -3.45 dB(A)(15th floors).   • In this paper we introduce Shinagawa HEART, located in Shinagawa district, Tokyo. It is a mixed-use building with residences on the upper floors, offices on the lower floors, and commercial uses on the first and second floors, and is intended to meet the various needs of a building on the border between residential and commercial areas. The upper floors of the building are made of reinforced concrete, while the middle and lower floors are made of steel with CFT columns. First, an overview of the structural plan of the building is presented. Next, the adoption of the middle layer seismic isolation and the switch between the lower steel structure and the upper reinforced concrete structure, which are the features of this building, are explained. Finally, the construction method adopted to achieve the design performance is explained.

  • The objective of this study is to provide basic objective data which can be utilized as an adjustment criterion for the alleviation of the limit on the number of floors of buildings by quantitatively evaluates the effect of the alleviation of the limit on the number of floors of buildings in apartment complexes on thermal environment of apartment complexes using data obtained from apartments in a class 2 general residential area. In this study, we carried out a thermal environment analysis utilizing the simulation of a virtual object area. The result is summarized as follows: The result of analyzing the entire surface temperature showed an equal decrease of surface temperature due to shadow in all scenarios and high floors showed a tendency of low surface temperature during daytime as the rate of shadow the high floors increase. This influences not only the surface temperature but also HIP and is judged to greatly contribute to the alleviation of the heat island effect. Also, the reason why HIP at high floors shows high values before sunrise and after sunset is thought to be because the concrete wall of the building maintains a high temperature during nighttime by absorbing and storing sunlight during daytime instead of reflecting it since it has low reflectance.

Grazing system and floor type effects on blood biochemistry, growth and carcass characteristics of Nguni goats

  • Objective: Purpose was to determine the effects of grazing system and floor type on concentrations of blood metabolites, activity of creatine kinase, body weight and carcass characteristics of castrated Nguni goats. Methods: Forty eight, 7 month old goats were randomly allocated to herding and tethering treatments from 0800 to 1300 hours and accommodated on slatted and earth floors daily. Blood samples were collected by jugular venipuncture every fifteenth day for metabolite analysis. Slaughter was done at a commercial abattoir following 5 months of monitoring. Results: Tethered goats had significantly higher concentrations of urea (5.19 mmol/L) (p<0.001), creatinine ($55.87{\mu}mol/L$) (p<0.05), total protein (64.60 g/L) (p<0.01), and globulin (49.79 g/L) (p<0.001), whereas herded goats had higher glucose (3.38 mmol/L) (p<0.001), albumin (15.33 g/L) (p<0.05), albumin/globulin ratio (0.34) (p<0.01), and body weight (24.87 kg) (p<0.001). Slatted floors caused higher (p<0.01) albumin at 15.37 g/L. The interaction of grazing system and floor type affected creatinine, total protein, globulin at (p<0.01) and albumen/globulin ratio at (p<0.01). The least creatinine concentration and albumin/globulin ratio was in herded and tethered goats that were accommodated on earth floors, respectively. The highest total protein and globulin concentrations were in serum of tethered goats that were accommodated on earth floors. The highest (p<0.05) dressing percentage (45.26%) was in herded goats accommodated on slatted floors. Conclusion: Herding of goats lowered globulin concentration, improved estimated feed intake, blood glucose and albumin concentrations, albumin globulin ratio, increased body weights and weight related carcass characteristics. Floor type had very little effects on metabolites where earth floors only reduced albumin concentration. Tethering and housing goats on earth floors resulted in double stress that increased chronic infections.

Psychological and Physiological Responses to Different Views through a Window in Apartment Complexes

  • Background and objective: With increasing land use intensity in urban areas, apartment buildings have been recognized as a typical type of urban residence. In this study, the impacts of different views through a window on health-related responses were investigated using psychological and physiological parameters. Methods: Photos of three different types of views taken on low (2-12 m), middle (28-35 m), and high (over 54 m) floors of dense apartment building areas were used as visual stimuli. Twenty-two healthy adults participated in the indoor experiment. Semantic differential methods and profile of mood states were used as psychological tools. Autonomic nervous activity was evaluated using blood pressures, pulse rate and heart rate variability (HRV). Results: Analytic data showed different characteristics of psychological and physiological outcomes in three different apartment views. In the analysis of psychological parameters, significantly negative responses to the views on middle floors were found in the subscales of tension-anxiety and anger-hostility, compared to low floors. Significantly positive scores in the subscale of vigor were found on low floors with abundance of vegetation and high floors with a view of the sky. A significantly increased value of HF was found on low floors (2,294.96 ± 169.79), compared to the middle(1,553.45 ± 84.66) and high (1,523.02 ± 70.49) floors. Despite the high scores in openness and vigor, high floor views showed significantly higher LF/HF values (1.83 ± 0.09), the indicator of the sympathetic nervous system, than low (1.30 ± 0.07) and middle floor views (1.34 ± 0.06), which might be related to the unconscious fear of heights. Conclusion: Views from different heights in an apartment building can affect the psychological states of residents. Green space through the window may have a positive health outcome by reducing physiological stress.
