Transparent Conducting Multilayer Electrode (GTO/Ag/GTO) Prepared by Radio-Frequency Sputtering for Organic Photovoltaic's Cells

  • Indium free consisting of three alternating layers GTO/Ag/GTO has been fabricated by radio-frequency (RF) sputtering for the applications as transparent conducting electrodes and the structural, electrical and optical properties of the gallium tin oxide (GTO) films were carefully studied. The gallium tin oxide thin films deposited at room temperature are found to have an amorphous structure. Hall Effect measurements show a strong influence on the conductivity type where it changed from n-type to p-type at $700^{\circ}C$. GTO/Ag/GTO multilayer structured electrode with a few nm of Ag layer embedded is fabricated and show the optical transmittance of 86.48% in the visible range (${\lambda}$ = 380~770 nm) and quite low electrical resistivity of ${\sim}10^{-5}{\Omega}cm$. The resultant power conversion efficiency of 2.60% of the multilayer based OPV (GAG) is lower than that of the reference commercial ITO. GTO/Ag/GTO multilayer is a promising transparent conducting electrode material due to its low resistivity, high transmittance, low temperature deposition and low cost components.

  • This paper discribes a study on the switching character of MOS-GTO and the design of gate drive circuit. Chopping power supply converter, synchronious and asyncronious motor speed adjustment, inverter, etc., needs low drive energy "high frequency" switches. To fulfill these need, switches must have rapid switching time and insulated gate control. MOS-GTO structure is well suited to these constraints. The power switch is serial installation of a GTO thyrister and a MOS Transistor. The gate of the GTO is linked to positive pole of the cascode structure via a MOS high voltage transistor and ground via a transient absorber diode. This high performance MOS-GTO assembly considerably increases the strength which facilitate the drive of GTO thyristers.

Analysis on Enhancement Plan of Competitiveness of Global Port Container Terminal (글로벌 항만컨테이너터미널 경쟁력 제고 방안)

  • Recently, GTO's rate of return to investment is decreasing. Therefore, the main purpose of this paper is to analyze empirically on enhancement of competitiveness of global port container terminal. This study deals with the terms of three competitiveness enhancement factors which are a GTO's subjective factors, a management environment factors, and a government policy factors. According to analysis results of the three competitiveness enhancement factors, a GTO's subjective factors(4.21 score) are scored at the most ones of competitiveness enhancement factors of GTO, to be compared with a management environment factors(3.94 score). with a government policy factors(3.90 score). Therefore, first of all, it is important to enhance competitiveness of GTO through as follows, a GTO's subjective factors : (1) to procure local and tranship cargo volume, (2) to promote port logistics service, (3) to retain resonable port rate by promoting terminal productivity, (4) to procure container ship firms and alliance. And, the next, we have to enhance GTO's competitiveness through considering a management environment factors, that is, fluctuation of container cargo volume, port awareness, whether function of hub port, etc., and a government policy factors, that is, smart policy of port development, smart policy of port rate, incentive policy for procuring tranship cargo, etc.

  • The turn-off behavior of the GTO Thyristor by its nature differs very much from that of other power f semiconductor switching devices. So canful attention should be paid in designing the GTO snubber circuit. This paper presents the effect of turn-off snubber circuit elements on the switching characteristics of the GTO, and describes considerations and criteria for the selection of the snubber component values.

  • The line commutated inverter with GTO forced commutation is described in this paper. The presented circuit has one bypass GTO inserted in DC power side line commutated thyristor inverter. The extended commutation region with additional one GTO-commutation is clearly shown. Also, a new PWM pattern is presented to decrease the effects of harmonics for commutation. A criterion for designing the AC filter parameters to decrease harmonics of AC part is given. The simulation and experimental results clearly show that the proposed circuit can be adapted in the application of regeneration.

Impact of Macroeconomic Factors on Terminal Operators' Profit: Focusing on Global Terminal Operators (거시경제지표가 터미널운영사 재무성과에 미치는 영향 분석: 글로벌터미널운영사 중심으로)

  • In the future, the global container handling market will be reorganized into larger ships and shipping alliances, and the bargaining power of shipping companies will be further strengthened. Therefore, the global terminal operator (GTO), which has a global network, vast experience, and operational know-how, is expected to strengthen its competitiveness. In Korea, the central government promoted the development of GTOs in the mid-2000s, but it failed, mainly due to disagreements between port stakeholders. In this study, the macroeconomic indicators that have the same effect in all regions were used to analyze GTO management performance. In the short term, it could be used to establish the business strategy of domestic terminal operators based on changes in macroeconomic indicators. In the long term, it would be used to establish a promotion strategy for GTOs in Korea. The results of analyzing the impact of macroeconomic indicators on the GTO's profit show that the GTO's profit is significantly affected by cargo handling capacity, the consumer price index of the United States, the Shanghai Composite Index, the Crude Oil Price, and the London Inter-bank Offered Rate (LIBOR). However, the scale of impact was not significantly different between public and private GTOs.

  • The global container terminal market is predicted to see continued future volume growth. According to Drewry, global container shipments rose by 6.3% year-on-year to 750 billion twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in 2017 and are forecast to experience continued growth to 9.3 billion TEUs in 2022. According to IHS Markit, the global terminal operator (GTO) market is forecast to grow more than 10% annually, up from $2.4 billion in 2017, to exceed $3 billion by 2022. However, Hyundai Merchant Marine is the only real GTO in Korea. In particular, the shipping and port markets are facing drastic changes, both at home and abroad, including a slowdown in the growth of domestic export and import shipments, environmental changes in the container market caused by the trade frictions between the US and China, and increased changes in container shipments caused by the trade frictions between Korea and Japan. In this study, we propose ways for domestic companies to participate in the continuously growing GTO market. After analyzing the current status of the global GTO market, the government expressed a desire to explore ways to establish GTOs through the Port Authority and the Korea Ocean Business Corporation. Therefore, four types of establishment plans were proposed, along with a legal framework for the establishment of GTOs.

  • Recently, AC variable-speed motors are used for many steel rolling mill drive systems, because of their low maintenance and enhanced control performance. We have been applied GTO inverters for these AC motor drive systems since 1993. We have developed world largest 6-inch diameter GTO and large capacity 3-level GTO inverter up to 20000(kVA). As an example, in this paper, we describe the main circuit, system arrangement and control features of the 6-inches GTO inverters to drive rougher mills for hot strip mill of Pohang Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. The motor capacity is 6000(kW), and it's overload is 250(%).

고내압$\cdot$대용량 GCT 사이리스터와 그 응용

  • 대용량 파워일렉트로닉스기기의 보다 대용량화$\cdot$소형경량화 및 저손실화 요구에 응하기 위하여 조지전압 4.5KV, 가제어전류 4KA의 고내압$\cdot$대용량 CGT(gate commutated turn-off : 게이트 전류형 턴오프) 사이리스터를 개발하여 상품화하였다. GCT사이리스터는 대용량 파워일렉트로닉스기기의 키파트로서 폭넓게 사용되고 있는 GTO(Gate turn-off)사이리스터와 Turn-on동작이 같고 gto사이리스터의 이점이 저On전압특성을 그대로 갖는 한편 턴오프동작은 ''턴오프 게인이 1''인 새로운 원리에 기초하고 있으며 턴오프특성에서는 GTO사이리스터에 비해 다음과 같은 특징을 갖고있다. (1)GTO사이리스터응용에서 턴오프시 dv/dt를 억제하기 위하여 필요한 스나버회로가 없어도 턴오프동작이 가능하다. (2)축적시간을 종래 GTO사이리스터의 약 1/10로 저감할 수 있다. (3)게이트축적전하를 종래의 GTO사이리스터의 약 1/2로 저감할 수 있다. 이러한 턴오프특성에 의하여 GCT사이리스터는 대용량 파워 일렉트로니스기기에 스나버회로 손실발생의 억제에 의한 손실의 저감, 고속동작화, 직병렬접속 응용에 의한 대용량화의 용이성, 게이트구동회로의 용량을 반감하는 등 많은 메리트를 가져다 준다.
