Effect of IBDU Complex and Organic Fertilizers for Creeping Bentgrass in Golf Course (골프코스 Creeping Bentgrass에 대한 IBDU복합비료와 유기질비료류의 효과)

  • This experiment was carried out to study an effect of organic fertilizer, IBDU complex and humate on the growth of creeping bentgrass(penncross) and the change of soil chemical characteristics. Results obtained are summarized as follows :1.Content of a total nitrogen in soil was increased in more IBDU complex and organic fertilizer than humate plot. 2.Content of a organic matter in soil was increased in organic fertiliter and humate plot. 3.CEC in soil was improved a little in humate-granular plot. 4.The yield of dry weight and leaf color 'was increased in more organic fertilizer than humate plot. 5.Root length was the most effective in humate plot.

Influence of Growth Regulators and Potassium Humate on in Vitro Multiplication of Apple Rootstock M.26 (생장조절제 및 Potassium Humate가 사과대목 M.26 기내 증식에 미치는 영향)

  • This experiment was designed to improve the in vitro production system of apple rootstock M.26 as being influenced by the growth regulators, TDZ, BA, IAA, IBA, zeatin, and GA$_3$. Different levels of potassium humate (KH), known as cytokinin and auxin-like substance, were also supplemented to the MS basal medium along with IBA 0.6 mg/L to find out it effect on root formation in apple rootstock M.26. ID initiate and establish the in vitro multiplication of shoots byway of meristem culture, MS medium added with zeatin 1.0 mg/L was found to be the most suitable, showing the 100% of survival rate of shoot tips. A combination of thidiazuron (TDZ) 0.2 mg/L and NAA 0.5 mg/L promoted the shoot proliferation when shoot tips were used as explants. MS basal medium plus IBA 0.6 mg/L was very effective for root induction, but an addition of potassium humate (250 mg/L) to the medium containing IBA 0.6 mg/L stimulated the induction and proliferation of the rook by far the better.

Change of Soil Physicochemical Properties by Mixed Ratio of 4 Types of Soil Amendments Used in Golf Course (골프장에 사용되는 4가지 토양개량제들의 혼합비율에 따른 토양이화학성의 변화)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of the mixed ratio of the soil amendments, peat, humate, peatmoss and zeolite, on the soil physicochemical properties. The mixed ratios of soil amendments were 0%, 3%, 5%, 7% and 10% (v/v) incorporated with sand which met to the USGA (United State of Golf Association) recommendation. It was measured pH, EC and CEC as a chemical properties. Porosity, capillary porosity, air-filled porosity, bulk density and hydraulic conductivity were also measured to analyze the changes of physical properties. Chemical properties were significantly different by mixture ratios of peat, humate, peatmoss and zeolite. When the results were applied to the USGA standard of the soil physical properties, the optimum mixture ratios of peat, humate and peatmoss were 5%, 3% and 7%, respectively. Air-filled porosity was factor involved in soil physical properties by blending with soil amendments and it was affected on volume of porosity and hydraulic conductivity. To analyze the corelation of mixture ratio versus to physical characters, the ratio of peat and peatmoss was significantly related to capillary porosity and hydraulic conductivity (P<0.05), that of humate hydraulic conductivity (P<0.01), and that of zeolite air-filled porosity and volume of porosity (P<0.05). These results could be used as a basic data for construction USGA sand green.

Nutrition Practice to Alleviate the Adverse Effects of Stress on Laying Performance, Metabolic Profile, and Egg Quality in Peak Producing Hens: I. The Humate Supplementation

  • This experiment was conducted to determine the effects of cage density (CD) and humate supplementation (HS) on laying performance, metabolic profile, and egg quality during the peak production period in hens. Lohman layers (n = 180, 46 wks of age) were blocked according to the location of cages and then allocated randomly to two levels of CD (4 or 6 hens per cage or 540 vs. 360 $cm^2$/hen) and three levels of HS (0, 0.15, and 0.30%). Egg production (EP) and feed consumption (FC) were measured daily; egg weight was measured bi-weekly; and BW was measured before and after the experiment. Blood and additional egg samples were obtained at the end of the experiment for determination of metabolic profile and egg quality. The data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA as repeated measures. Except for FC, CD did not affect laying performance parameters. Hens placed in high-density cages had lower FC than hens placed in normal-density cages. Increasing HS level linearly increased FC, EP, and feed conversion ratio (FCR). There was a CD by HS interaction effect on FC and EP. Hens placed in high-density cages had greater serum glucose, total protein, albumin, globulin, Ca, and P concentrations and tended to have greater serum corticosterone concentration than hens placed in normaldensity cages. Increasing HS level linearly increased serum glucose, total protein, albumin, globulin, creatine, and Ca concentrations and linearly decreased serum triglyceride and very low-density lipoprotein concentrations. There was a CD by HS interaction effect on serum glucose and albumin concentrations. There were no alterations in egg quality parameters in response to increasing CD. Albumen index and Haugh unit decreased linearly and other egg quality parameters did not change as HS level increased. In conclusion, increased caging density adversely affected metabolic profile, despite insignificantly deteriorating laying performance. Moreover, benefits from humate supplementation seem to be more noteworthy for hens housed in stressing conditions than for hens housed in standard conditions.

  • A comparative investigation of the complexations of divalent metal ions (Cd, Cu, and Pb) by a well characterized soil humic acid (HA) from Okchun Metamorphic Belt was carried out in 0.05 M $KNO_3$ and pH of 4.5 using ion selective electrodes. A continuous distribution model based on the Scatchard Plot was used to determine the stability constants, because the constants obtained by this modeling technique takes the variations in binding energies into consideration without regards to the manner in which M(II) ion is bound on HA. The mean value of log $K_i$ were $4.05{\pm}0.60,\;4.92{\pm}0.36,\;and\;5.63{\pm}0.34\;{\ell}\;mol^{-1}$ for Cd(II)-, Pb(II), and Cu(II)-humate complexes respectively. The values of intrinsic constant (log $K_{int}$; binding at strongest site) were $7.12{\pm}0.30,\;6.59{\pm}0.32,\;and5.07{\pm}0.56\;{\ell}\; mol^{-1}$ in the order Cu(II) > Pb(II) > Cd(II) ion.

Application of Liquid Fertilizer Containing Humate Improving Rhizosphere Activation and Favoring Turfgrass Quality (부식산 액상비료 시비에 의한 크리핑 벤트그래스 지하부 생육증가와 품질향상)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of liquid fertilizer containing humate (LFH) on changes of turfgrass quality and growth by investigating visual quality, chlorophyll content, dry weight of clipping, and nutrient content in leaves tissue. Treatments were designed as follows; control fertilizer (CF), HF-1 ($CF+1.0mL\;m^{-2}\;LFH$), HF-2 ($CF+2.0mL\;m^{-2}\;LFH$), and HF-3 ($CF+4.0mL\;m^{-2}\;LFH$). As compared with CF, soil chemical properties of LFH treatments were not significantly. Visual quality and root dry weight of LFH treatments were higher than that of CF. Chlorophyll content, clipping yield and nitrogen uptake of HF-2 and HF-3 were increased 11.2-11.8%, 15.3-30.0%, 22-42% by application of LFH. The LFH level was positively correlated with visual quality, chlorophyll content, clipping yield or nutrient uptake amount. These results indicated that the application of LFH improved the growth and quality of creeping bentgrass by increasing nutrient uptake and by prompting root growth.

  • Application of biostimulants, humate-based products marketed as aids to plant establishment, may increase root growth of turfgrass and maple tree. We tested three types of biostimulants on root growth of creeping bentgrass (Agrosfic palustris Huds.) and maple (Acer rubrum L.). Roots were first observed in the 2-3 weeks after treatments. Biostimulant-treated tufgrass and tree had more root length than nontreated controls. Turfgrass nutrient absorption was increased with biostimulant application.

Effect of Current Density and pH of Electrolyte on Anion-Exchange Membrane Fouling (전류밀도와 전해질의 pH가 음이온교환막의 막 오염에 미치는 영향)

  • Current density is an important operating parameter in the ion-exchange membrane process. We observed the effects of fouling of a Neosepta AMX anion-exchange membrane(Tokuyama Soda, Japan) in 0.02 M NaCl solution containing 100 mg/L sodium humate. Membrane fouling was analyzed by measuring the change in the electrical resistance in the under- and over-limiting current density regions. The experimental results found that membrane fouling was negligible at under-limiting current densities, but was increased significantly when an over-limiting current was supplied. After the fouling experiments, the current-voltage curves for the fouled membranes were measured. From the curves, we observed increased electric resistance and reduced limiting current density(LCD), caused by the accumulation of humic acid on the membrane surface. Furthermore, membrane fouling increased as the acidity of the electrolyte solution containing humic acid increased. This occurred because the fouling of an anion-exchange membrane is affected more by the physicochemical properties of the humic substance than by the surface charge of the humate.

  • This research was experimented to clarity the effects of the calcareous materials which were utilized to improve the soil in reclaimed tidal land. It is located at the Kang-Hwa polder. Kil-sang myun, Kang-Hwa Gun, Kyung-gi Do. The results obtained are as follows 1. Comparing with the yields of rice in each treatment, it is noticed that the plot treated with ca-humated 1.0% gets the most effect to improve the soil, and the next ones are in the order of the plots treated with raw straw, gypsum and calcium hydroxide. 2. Treating the calcium or organic matter in soil is evaluated to increase the yields of rice in paddy fields of tidal land, because of increasing the number of ear per plant, the number of grain per ear, the weight of 1,000 grains and somthing like that. 3. Adding calcium or organic matter into soil, it makes a good condition for the growth of rice, because of pomoting the formation of soil structure of simple grain type. 4. To improve the soil in reclaimed tidal land, we can separately treat calcium, calcium hydroxide and raw straw in soil, but it is found out the fact that the method of treatment of calcareous materials together with organic matter is more effective.
