Porous ceramic membranes consisting of $Ce_{1-x}Y_xO_{2-{\delta}}$ were developed for hydrogen permeation tests. Various amounts (x = 0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2) of yttrium were doped to ceria to study the effect of yttrium doping on ceria membranes on various properties, including hydrogen permeability. $Ce_{1-x}Y_xO_{2-{\delta}}$ powder was synthesized by the sol-gel method. These membranes were fabricated by pressing and sintering at $1300^{\circ}C$ for 6 h. As the amount of yttrium increased, the grain size of the membrane decreased. Hydrogen permeability was improved as the yttrium content increased. Selective permeability of hydrogen compared to CO is explained by electric conductivity. As the temperature rose, both the hydrogen perm-selectivity and electric conductivity on $Ce_{0.8}Y_{0.2}O_{1.9}$ improved.
The relationship between relative water contents of lettuce leaves and biochemical activities in lettuce was examined in this study to explore an adaptation response of lettuce to water stress from soils. Soil water contents and relative water contents of leaves were positively related to show $R^2$=0.8728. Hydrogen peroxide contents of leaves rapidly increased with reduction of soil water content, whereas soluble protein contents and dry matters rapidly decreased. And chlorophyll a and b contents of leaves decreased with increase in carotenoid content. Furthermore, the activities of ascorbate peroxidase (APX), monodehydroascorbate reductase (MDHAR), and dehydroascorbate reductase (DHAR) increased dramatically, and mRNA transcript levels of APX, MDHAR and DHAR also increased. Relationship of relative water content of lettuce leaves to hydrogen peroxide, to ascorbate peroxidase activity, to dehydroascorbate reductase activity, and to monodehydroascorbate reductase activity was shown to be positively correlated. It is highly plausible from this study that these enzyme activities could be developed as an indicator of water states in soils.
To trace the plasticizing effects of propylene glycol (PG) on poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), the rheological properties of PVA solutions in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and the physical properties of PVA films were discussed in terms of PG content. Both properties were closely related to the hydrogen bond breaking effects of PG The 6 and 12 wt% PVA solutions containing PG exhibited Bingham behavior, which was more noticeable at lower plasticizer content and higher polymer concentration. The 6 wt% PVA solutions containing more than 30 wt% PG showed a sudden decrease of viscosity over the frequency range of 0.08 and 0.2 rad/s. However, the 12 wt% PYA solutions showed no viscosity reduction even at a PG content up to 40 wt%. The glass transition temperature of the PVA/PG films was almost linearly decreased with increasing PG content but an abrupt reduction was observed at a plasticizer content 30 wt%, suggesting that the hydrogen bond breaking effects of PG on PVA became dominant between 20 and 30 wt%. This effect was further supported by the similar tendency of the tensile properties.

TFormic acid-hydrogen peroxide (or performic acid) pulping process needs milder reaction condition than other chemical pulping process. Two-step formic acid-hydrogen peroxide pulping process can produce the chemical pulp with similar pulp yield and lignin content compared with soda-anthraquinone process. Formic acid-hydrogen peroxide pulp can be produced less xylan content than other alkaline pulps, which favor for dissolving pulp production. Formic acid-hydrogen peroxide pulp showed better response beating than soda-anthraquinone(AQ) pulps with reaching target freeness with less beating. Also, formic acid-hydrogen peroxide pulp had better tensile index at similar freeness level compared with soda-AQ pulps.

The paper deals with the effect of hydrogen or helium in argon as a shielding gas on GTA welding of austenitic stainless steel. The studies were carried out in GTA(Gas Tungsten Arc) welding with a non-consumable electrode in case with different volume additions of hydrogen or helium to the argon shielding gas, i.e $5%H_2,\;10%H_2$, 30%He and 67%He. The penetration, welding voltage, microstructure and mechanical property were examined. The deepest penetration was obtained from the sample which was welded under shielding gas of $10%H_2$. The studies showed that hydrogen or helium addition to argon changes the static characteristic of the welding arc. The hydrogen or helium addition to argon increases arc power and the quantity of the material melted. The weld metal penetration depth and its width increased with increasing hydrogen or helium content. Additionally, welding voltage increased with increasing hydrogen or helium content.
The study on the fabrication of iron powder from forging scales using hydrogen gas has been conducted on the effect of hydrogen partial pressure, temperature, and reactive time. The mechanism for the reduction of iron oxides was proposed with various steps, and it was found that reduction pattern might be different depending on temperature. The iron content in the scale and reduction ratio of oxygen were both increased with increasing reactive time at 0.1atm of hydrogen partial pressure. On the other hand, for over 30 minutes at 0.5 atm of hydrogen partial pressure, the values were found to be almost same. In the long run, iron metallic powder was obtained with over 90% of iron content and an average size of its powder was observed to be about $100{\mu}m$.
Fucoidans were degraded by hydrogen peroxide under the electron beam (2.5 MeV) with various radiation doses (5 kGy, 10 kGy, 15 kGy, and 20 kGy) at room temperature. The degradation property was analyzed with a gel permeation chromatography (GPC-MALLS) method. An average molecular weight of fucoidan decreased from 99,956 at the irradiation dose of 0 kGy to 6,725 at the irradiation dose of 20 kGy. The solution viscosity of fucoidans showed a similar pattern to the molecular weight change. The number of chain breaks per molecule (N) increased with increasing the irradiation dose and concentration of hydrogen peroxide. The radiation yield of scission value markedly increased with increasing the irradiation dose up to 15 kGy. Also a 10% hydrogen peroxide concentration was more efficient than that of 5%. The structures of degraded fucoidan samples were studied with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The results showed that the degradation process did not significantly change the chemical structure or the content of sulfate group. The sulfur content of each sample was determined with an Elemental Analyzer. With increasing the concentration of hydrogen peroxide, the ratios of sulfur/carbon, hydrogen/carbon, and nitrogen/carbon slightly decreased. The antioxidant activities of fucoidans were investigated based on hydroxyl radical scavenging activities. The ability of fucoidan to inhibit the hydroxyl radical scavenging activity was depended on its molecular weight.
Nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) was used to study a feasibility test for the possibility to develop a moisture sensor applicable for agricultural products such as raw and powdered grain. Samples of wheat flour and brown rice were tested with a 200MHz hydrogen NMR. The samples were loaded into 5mm NMR glass tubes and $30^{\circ}$ pulses were supplied to get resonance signals. Hydrogen spectrum intensities of the samples were compared to moisture content measured by a drying oven method. High linear correlations were obtained between the hydrogen spectrum intensity and moisture content. Therefore, moisure contents of agricultural products could be measured nondestructively utilizing the NMR principle. A low-cost design concept of the moisture sensor with the NMR principle was proposed for a practical use.
In this study, cold crack susceptibility of high strength steel (ABS EH32 Steel) welded zone with shielded metal are welding was investigated by tensile restraint cracking test method. Effects of diffusible hydrogen content on root cracking, lower critical stress, crack initiation and fracture mode, hardness value distribution of welded zone and fractograph were mainly investigated. Following conclusions are made: 1. In the view of the lower critical stress level, wet electrode, containing much diffusible hydrogen content shows lower value than dried electrode. 2. Hardness value(Hv 5kg) in Heat Affected Zone of wet electrode is higher than that of dried electrode caused by hydrogen embrittlement. 3. In the case of wet electrode, root crack is initiated and propagated in Heat Affected Zone and then propagated to weld metal, but using of dried electrode, root crack is initiated in Heat Affected Zone and propagated to weld metal without propagating in HAZ. 4. For wet electrode, quasi-cleavage fracture mode is majorly observed on the fracture surface of HAZ and partially of weld metal due to hydrogen embrittlement.

Arthrospira platensis (A. platensis) has been used in various fields including dietary supplements as it contains a high protein content and large amounts of unsaturated fatty acids. In addition, it has some pigments such as phycocyanin, myxoxanthophyll and zeaxanthin and thus has been used as a food additive and antioxidant substance. Nano-bubble hydrogen is to dissolve more than the saturation solubility in water by injecting the hydrogen gas in the nano-bubble hydrogen water. The nano-bubbles are known to possess higher antioxidant properties in addition to anticancer effects. In this paper, Arthrospira platensis was cultured in both a normal medium with distilled water and nano-bubble hydrogen water medium and their properties were compared. The cell growth and the content of chlorophyll and carotenoid in the nano-bubble hydrogen water was 15% higher than that of the control. The level of phycocyanin in nano-bubble hydrogen water was also 7% higher than that of the control. However, there were little differences in the lipid content between the nano-bubble and control. To determine the content of the antioxidants, the level of flavonoid and polyphenol were measured. The level of flavonoid in nano-bubble hydrogen water was found to be more than 70% increased when comparing to that of the control, while the level of polyphenol was similar to each other.
