Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 480 undergraduates in Jeonnam from June 1 to 15, 2016 based on convenience sampling. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics of the subjects, beverage intake frequency, and awareness of beverage. Results: Carbonated beverage intake was 3.05 times per week and five kinds of beverage consumption was 12.48 times per week. Higher beverage intake was closely related to male students, higher beverage purchase, and lower awareness toward oral health impact by beverage and sugar contents. Conclusions: The recognition level of beverage related to oral health had an impact on the frequency of drink intake. It is necessary to educate the dietary guide for appropriate oral health management in beverage intake.

  • This study carried out surveys for 197 nail shop practitioners and 195 customers 1) to study the real condition of their hygiene awareness and safety consciousness and 2) to grasp their awareness of the necessity of legislating a related bill so as to build an independent domain of business and to propose data on the national qualification system of nail care. As a result, it was found that the level of the nail care practitioners' experiences of safety education was very low, and that the customers attached importance to the necessity of nail salon practitioners' certificate and license and the nail treatment-related bill more than the nail care practitioners themselves. In conclusion, the preparation of a nail art-related bill is required at the state level for the management of the safety and hygiene of national health, and systematic and regular education related to hygiene should be carried out.

Methods : The subjects in this study were 314 patients who visited dental clinics in North Jeolla Province in June 2009. Results : 1. Out of oral hygiene supplies, the largest number of the patients investigated(74.6%) were best cognizant of dental floss, and the greatest group(77.7%) had the right understanding of the use of toothpick. Currently, the oral hygiene supplies that were most widely in use were toothpicks(43.2%). 2. As to the relationship of awareness and understanding of the use, application of oral hygiene supplies to subjective oral health status, 50.0 percent of the patients who understood the use of toothpick found themselves to be in good health, and the gaps between them and the others were statistically significant. Among those who were aware of dental floss, the largest group(51.4%) considered themselves to be in good shape, and in the event of those who understood the use of dental floss, the greatest group(49.2%) deemed themselves to be in good health. Out of those who understood the use of mouse rinse, the largest group(53.7%) thought they were in good health(p<0.05). 3. Recognition of interdental brush, understanding of its use and whether to use it currently or not were identified as parents to use oral hygiene supplies recommended by dental clinics(p<0.05). 4. Recognition of interdental brush, understanding of its use and whether to use it currently or not were identified as patients to use oral hygiene supplies recommended by dental clinics(p<0.05). 5. The largest group of those who didn't put dental floss to use didn't use it for other reasons unspecified in the questionnaire, and the second greatest group of them didn't use it since it was so onerous to do that. There were statistically significant differences in the reason why they didn't use the oral hygiene supplies(p<0.05). 6. Awareness of dental floss and interdental brush, understanding of the use of the two and whether to use the two at present or not made statistically significant differences to whether they were likely to use the oral hygiene supplies in the future. And whether they were likely to use the oral hygiene supplies in the future was statistically significantly different according to awareness of mouse rinse and understanding of the use of it as well(p<0.05). Conclusions : Dental hygienists have to provide patients with various data of oral hygiene devices through oral health education and then only patients caring in dental clinics can choose the appropriate devices to claim for their own disease.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the subjective awareness and expectations of implant patients. Methods : The subjects in this study were 200 implant patients at three different dental clinics in the region of Busan. Results : Concerning awareness of implant, the patients aged between 41 and 50 were best aware of implant with 2.85(p<0.05). By education, those who received college or higher education were best aware of it with 3.53(p<0.001). By income, those whose income was three million won or more were best aware of it with 2.95(p<0.05). As for expectations for implant, the women expected more from it with 2.89(p<0.01). By age, those aged between 41 and 50 had the biggest expectations with 3.63(p<0.001). By education, the patients whose income ranged between 2 and 2.99 million won had the greatest expectations with 2.91(p<0.05). Education and occupation made no significant differences to that. In regard to correlation among their knowledge, awareness and expectations for implant, there was a positive correlation between their knowledge and awareness(0.439), and their awareness had a negative correlation to their expectations(-0.147). Conclusions : The above-mentioned findings suggested that what patients expect from implant should accurately be grasped when counseling is provided, and that accurate information should be provided to them as well. Their cooperation should be requested during implant treatment, and special post-care programs should be prepared to boost their quality of life after receiving implant treatment. Quality medical services should be offered in proportion to the cost of treatment in order to satisfy their expectations.
