전기자동차용 전지관리 시스템의 개발 (Development of Battery Management System for Electric Vehicle)

  • This paper has described in Electric Vehicle Battery Management System(EV BMS). EV BMS manages the input/output energy of the traction battery, and provides the optimum environment condition during charging/ driving through the communication with other controllers. In this paper, we introduce our BMS for Santa Fe EV. Hyundai Motor Company has been developed EV since 1990. Recently, Santa Fe EV has been demonstrating with the environmental friendly technology. Two year real road testing program with electric powered Santa Fe is being undertaken by HMC in Hawaii.

  • Fuel cell technology is the most representative area of alternative energy field on vehicle industry according to the limitation of petroleum resources. In recent years, the technology of fuel cell vehicles has made rapid progress, Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) reached to mass production of the Tucson ix hydrogen fuel cell vehicles first in the world. In addition, HMC is accelerating the development of hydrogen fuel cell buses, which have a number of advantages for hydrogen infrastructure and mass transport personnel. In this study, we examined potential of the commercialization through the demonstration of hydrogen fuel cell buses. As a result, we identified that the mass-production possibility of FCB has high potential and HMC's technology will lead to fuel cell bus industry.

  • Many Korean companies have grown up through technology import, learning, development, innovation and export. This process is called as "the dynamic development process of technology". Among many companies which have grown up by way of this process, the Hyundai Motor Company has shown a very remarkable achievement in technological growth.   • Proper discharge of nitrogen gas and water condensate is required in a conventional fuel cell system for performance, stability and durability of fuel cell stacks. Present study covers the development of integrated unit and its functioning logic for simultaneous nitrogen gas purge and water condensate drainage in a fuel cell vehicle system. Configuration of condensate drainage pipe, purge valve and level sensor is considered and optimized in physical integration. As a key factor, discharge time is considered and optimized based on the test result of constant-current operation with various operating temperature in logic development. Consequently, derived optimal values are applied and verified in actual vehicle drive mode test. Increase of system design flexibility, weight reduction and cost reduction are anticipated with this study. Additional study for physical and logical improvement is currently being implemented.

  • Fuel cell vehicles are equipped with Pressure Relief Devices(PRDs) installed in pressure tank cylinder to prevent the explosion of the tank during a fire. PRDs are safety devices that perceive a fire and release gas in the pressure tank cylinder before it is exploded. But if the PRD does not actuate, because either the PRD fails or can't be surrounded by the flame of a fire, the tank will rupture and produce a blast wave and hydrogen fire ball. In this paper, we observed the fire behavior of actual fuel cell vehicle, comparing with that of gasoline vehicle.

  • In the past, transmission error(T.E.) has been identified as one of the main sources of gear whine noise, which cause serious passengers irritation at high frequency. In this study, to identify the correlation of the T.E. and gear whine noise, a T.E. measuring system was developed. By comparing the T.E. and gear whine noise level, T.E. target value which can represent the gear noise was proposed. The conclusions are followed: (I) It is possible to measure T.E. of the gear pairs (II) Similar trends are observed between T.E. and gear whine noise. (III) By observing the T.E. pattern, presence of sideband noise can be predicted. (IV) Proposed T.E. target value can be adopted to the gear manufacturing for gear noise quality management.

  • Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) stack power output is needed to be approximately 100 kW to meet the requirements of automotive applications. In order to secure the electric safety for drivers, passengers and mechanics, it is very important to understand phenomena of an electric insulation in a fuel cell vehicle. In this study, we studied the electric insulation properties and the insulation resistance of stack, system and vehicle in the field of fuel cell was estimated at the applied voltage of 500 V, respectively. Also we discussed the insulation factors such as the conductivity of coolant, the element of vehicle design and the intrinsic resistance of the vehicle components.

  • 최근 자동차시스템의 고품위화에 대한 요구가 지속적으로 증대되어 자동차의 전기시스템화가 급속히 진행되고 있다. 향후 하이브리드 전기자동차 및 연료전지자동차 그리고 차세대 파워트레인의 구동모터에 이르기까지 전기구동모터의 영역은 지속적으로 확대되고 있으며 이러한 움직임은 자동차 전기시스템의 구조자체에 대한 변화를 요구하고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 최근 자동차분야에서의 모터구동시스템의 주요연구 분야에 대해 기술하며 기술발전에 있어서의 문제점 및 극복해야 할 과제에 대해서 논의한다. 차량관점에서의 개선목표를 제시하며 이를 달성하기 위한 핵심기술 및 세부요소기술에 대한 동향을 함께 제시한다. 이를 통하여 모터구동시스템 자체만의 독립적인 기술이 아닌 차량을 고려한 모터 구동시스템의 기술발전에 대한 필요성에 대해 강조한다.
