  • An ILLUDAS-NPS model was developed which is able to compute pollutant loadings and the concentrations of water quality constituents. This model is based on the existing ILLUDAS model, and added for use in the water quality analysis process during dry and rainy periods. For dry period, the specifications of coefficients for discharge and water quality were used. During rainfall, we used the daily pollutant accumulation method and the washoff equation for computing water quality each time. According to the results of verification, the ILLUDAS-NPS model provides generally similar outputs with the measured data on total loadings, peak concentration and time of peak concentration for three rainfall events in the Hong-je Basin. In comparison with the SWMM and STORM models, it was shown that there is little difference between ILLUDAS-NPS and SWMM.

  • In this study, we analyzed the sensitivity of parameters which affect the result of ILLUDAS model, in the various rainfall conditions. The three basins including Namgaja, Kings creek, Gray haven were selected for this research. The rainfall conditions are considered in terms of the rainfall frequency, the duration and the distribution. In most cases, the impermeability area ratio, the sewer slope, and the sewer roughness coefficient give more significant effects on the results than others. The results show that as increasing the rainfall frequency, the sensitivity of the parameters, sewer slope and roughness coefficient are rised, while the impermeability area ratio is decreasing. And also, for the duration of rainfall, the impermeability area ratio's sensitivity shows similar tendency. In case of the rainfall distribution, the parameters of the sewer roughness and the impermeability area ratio show more sensitive in Huff distribution. Especially, The impermeability area ratio is the most sensitive parameter in Central blocking and Yen & Chow distributions respectively.

  • In this study, the urban runoff models, ILLUDAS model and SWMM, are analyzed the probable peak discharge and discharge using rainfall distribution by Huff's method at Bum-uh chun area in Taegu city. The probability rainfall and intensity is analyzed by Pearson-III type. The rainfall duration, 90 minutes, is determined by the critical duration computed the maximun peak discharge for some rainfall durations. The peak discharge according to Huff's rainfall distribution types compute in order of type 3, type 4, type2, and type 1, so Huff's 3 type is selected as an adequate rainfall distribution in Bum-uh chun basin. ILLUDAS model and SWMM are shown as good models in Bum-uh chun, but SWMM is computed higher peak discharge than ILLUDAS model, so SWMM is shown as the adequate urban runoff model for the design of interior drainage in urban basin.

  • This study has an object to evaluate runoff characteristics with ILLUDAS model and SWMM owing to each rainfall distribution type of Huff's quartile and each rainfall duration time of 30 ,60, 120 and 180 minutes. As a result of this study, Type-Ⅰ Extreme (TIE) rainfall distribution pattern with Huff's 2nd quartile is adequate for Cheju volcanic island . To decide optimal rain fall duration , time of concentration and critical duration should be compared and analyzed each other. In this study, 30 and 120 miniutes were suggeste to iptiaml duration time of A and B study basins. It is concluded that the magnitude of peak runoff discharge is maximum with Huff's 4th quartile, and that of total runoff volume is maximum with Huff's 4th quartile for ILLUDAS model and with Huff's 1st quartile for SWMM. As rainfall duration time increasing is increasing . Also in case of total runoff volume, volumen by SWMM is less than by ILLUDAS model as to variation ratio of total runoff volume in A and B study basin. Therefore, the resulots of this study canb e sued as basic data in determining adequate rainfoal duration time and rainfall distribution type and used for urban drainage systems analysis and design at small urbanization catchment is Cheju volcanic island.

  • In this study, ILLUDAS and SWMM were applied for Dongsucheon basin, Incheon and Test basin, Cheongju. The main parameters (II, IA, IS, SI, SR, SS) which are included in those of each model depending on runoff results were determined, and sensitivity ratios were estimated in order to evaluate and compare the characteristics of each modEL. Total runoff ratio for almost parameters turned out to have a linear relation to the rainfall durations and the scale of basin area but have nothing to do with rainfall distributions. Sensitivity ratios turned out to have a linear relation for the infiltration and soil parameters of ILLUDAS as well as all parameters of SWMM. ronoff sensitivity ratios for almost parameters were smaller than 1.0 because the impacts of total runoff were bigger than those of peak runoff. And runoff sensitivity ratio was equal to 1.0 for the roughness coefficient of SWMM. Total runoff ratio, peak runoff ratio and runoff sensitivity ratio for the selected parameters of those models were presented asthe tables and figures according to the scale of basin area, rainfall durations such as 60, 120, and 180 minutes and Huff's 4th quartiles rainfall distributions. Keywords : ILLUDAS, SWMM, parameter, sensitivity analysis, sensitivity ratio.

  • The purpose of this study is developing a coupled model for the flood analysis. Firstly, the model(river model) describing the inundation in a river solves the two-dimensional Saint Venant equations with a finite difference method and it is possible moving boundary treatment. The other model(inland model) in developed based on the ILLUDAS model to describe the conveyance capacity of a stormwater sewer system. Finally, a coupled model is applied to a real situation. The newly developed coupled model simulates reasonably the flood event occurred in a river and a inland simultaneously

  • In determining design runoff for the design of drainage systems, the concept of critical storm duration is applied. However, rainfall distribution is usually determined without well-defined standards. In this paper, through the application of ILLUDAS model to Sanbon basin, which is a small urbanized watershed, effects of various rainfall distributing types upon the determination of critical storm duration are throughly analyzed. As a result, it is revealed that peak discharge rates as well as critical storm duration are greatly influenced by the applied of rainfall distributions such as uniform, triangular, trapezoid, huff, central type using IDF curve. Keywords : critical storm duration, rainfall distribution, urban runoff, design storm, ILLUDAS.
