Qualitative study of software ILS application: Comparison analysis of maintenance types in software and hardware (소프트웨어 ILS 적용방안 연구 : 소프트웨어와 하드웨어의 유지보수 특성을 고려한 비교 분석을 중심으로)

  • The increasing importance of software has highlighted the need for the proper application of software ILS. On the other hand, the development of ILS has been somewhat limited to the area of hardware development. Therefore, this study examined the potential difficulties in applying software ILS to practical uses, and analyzed the drawbacks by reporting several domestic or foreign regulation cases. In addition, the differences between hardware and software ILS were examined by considering their characteristics of maintenance. Eventually, by establishing the proper range, this study proposes a development plan that is suitable for domestic weapon systems. The proposed research is expected to be helpful for offering specific plans for designing software ILS.

An Iterative Local Search Algorithm for Rural Postman Problems (Rural Postman Problem 해법을 위한 Iterative Local Search 알고리즘)

  • This paper Proposes an iterative Local Search (ILS) algorithm for Rural Postman Problems (RPPs). LS searches neighbors from an initial solution in solution space and obtains a nearoptimal solution which can be a local-minima. As an extension of LS, the ILS algorithm is a method that uses various initial solutions for LS. Hence. ILS can overcome the defect of LS. This paper proposes LS and ILS methods for 18 RPPs and analyzes the results of LS and ILS. In the simulation results, the ILS method obtained the better results than the LS method.

  • This study reviews the concept of Integrated Logistic Support(ILS), ILS standards, ILS elements, and the processes of developing ILS elements and Logistics Support Analysis(LSA). It also examines the potentials of applying ILS development process to building CALS systems in commercial sectors in order to accomplish business process innovation and achieve life-cycle cost savings in product and equipment management. In order to utilize the ILS approach for commercial industries, we need customizing the process of Logistics Support Analysis defined in MIL-STD-1388-lA. The success of ILS implementation depends on the determination of the range of ILS elements in relation with the application environment, and the appropriate development of those elements. During the development process, in order to analyze and design logistics flow processes and supporting activities, we suggest the object-oriented logistics process modeling approach with basic concepts and constructs embedded in objects. Several diagrams including Class Diagram, Class-Instance Diagram, and Integrated Instance Diagram, are provided. Simple Steps to follow are suggested for the analysis and design of inter-organizational logistics flow and support processes. The outcomes of the study are expected to contribute to stimulating the utilization of ILS concepts and development process during building commercial CALS systems.

  • To develop the most effect maintenance system of urban MAGLEV train which is being developed based on system engineering, logistics belong to special system engineering were applied to maintenance system and Integrated Logistic Supports (ILS) were employed to tailor every step of MAGLEV project. Since ILS had not been applied to domestic train project, the followings were studied to validate ILS: 1) case studies on maintenance procedures at home and abroad, 2) overview of standardized process of ILS, 3) Comparison and analysis of relationship between RAMS and ILS, 4) Application of ILS to MAGLEV maintenance system and other domestic train system.

Review : Ionic Liquids as Green Solvent (리뷰 : 녹색용매로서의 이온성액체 기술동향)

  • Ionic liquids(ILs) have been the most investigated chemicals among green solvents including water, glycerol, supercritical carbon dioxdie($scCO_2$). ILs are attracting organic as well as inorganic chemicals because most ionic liquids' vapor pressures are very low so that ILs are liquids phase at ambient conditions. ILs are composed of various anions and cations, thus chemists can design functionalized solvents and/or catalysts that can be used in specific synthetic reactions by means of combinations of different ions. Many scientists believe ILs being green materials because of its low vapor pressure as well as the flexibility in controlling the chemical and physical properties. In this review the author describes recent development of ILs focused on imidazolium and pyridinium ILs which are being most investigated presently. In order to apply this materials in industrial level, the toxicity matter must be resolved first. In this regard, the author describes recent research trend regarding environmental effects by ILs as well as some meaningful results as well.

  • Logistics is by no means a new subject area. The concept of logistics goes way become more complex as technology advances, and logistics requirements have increased accordingly. In 1964, when ILS philosophy formally came into being, ILS was defined in general terms and did not describe what actions an ILS program should accomplish. ILS philosophy have been developed from 1964 through 1980. In 1982, United States Department of Defense formulated a new concept, CALS. CALS is the strategy that the US defense development to management the transition to integration and automated interchange in defense system engineering, manufacturing, and logistic support. Its goal is to use the inherent features of digitized data to revolutionize the function of data -gathering, data storage and data - transfer techologies associared with the development of defense systems. The Result will be systems that are cheaper, more reliable, and easier to maintain. To define CALS's character, the purpose of this papers compare two concepts - CALS and ILS. The elements of CALS consist of standads and EDI. The elements of ILS include LCC(Life Cycle Cost), LSA(Logistics Support Analysis), LSAR(Logistics Support Analysis Rcord), Aquisition Cycle.

A Study on the Integrated Library System Based on Open Source Software (오픈소스 ILS 실현에 관한 연구)

  • The idea behind Open Source Software(OSS) that permits users to study, change, and improve, is similar to the spirit of the library that has been developed through cooperations and resource sharing rather than competition. OSS is regarded as an alternative, low-cost technical innovation based on librarian's creative idea and standardized business process. Enthusiasm of the community is fundamental to successful installations and sustainable development. This study analyzed two community-based OSS ILS, namely KOHA and Next_L and suggested a future direction for domestic libraries. In the case of Korea, it is desirable for a library consortium to develop an OSS ILS for small- and medium-sized libraries. Most importantly, strong consensus about OSS ILS among the practiting librarians should be developed first.

On Modeling the PBL Process and the ILS Development from a Life Cycle View with Resultant Enhanced Interrelationship (PBL 수행절차와 ILS 개발절차의 수명주기별 프로세스 모델링 및 상호 연계성의 개선에 관한 연구)

  • The demand on applying the performance-based logistics (PBL) in the operational phase of the weapon systems development is increasing these days. Therefore, the enhancement of the PBL concept and process needs to be done. This is the objective of the paper. As a method of approach, a modeling method is adopted to cover the whole life cycle of the weapon systems development from the concept development to the operation. The modeling results for the PBL process yield an useful suggestion for improvement. Also, by analyzing the interrelationship model between the PBL process and the integrated logistics support (ILS) procedure, it is possible to take advantage of the PBL concept in the ILS elements development, which is usually carried out from the beginning of the development phase, a lot earlier than the operational phase. Note that the PBL concept has been restrictively applied in only the supply support among many ILS elements up until now. However, the results obtained in the paper can make it also possible to consider the availability, reliability, logistics support, cost and so on from the early phase of the weapon systems development.

Comparison of ILS and GBAS Through Flight Test in Taean Aerodrome and Kimpo Airport (태안 비행장과 김포공항 비행시험을 통한 ILS와 GBAS 비교)

  • Since instrument landing system currently operating in most airports is operating in single-pass, it is not possible to accommodate a large number of aircraft. A satellite navigation system GBAS using a GNSS has been developed to solve these limitation when air traffic increases. GBAS is better than the ILS in position accuracy and capable of landing through multiple paths rather than a single path, the aircraft can perform varied landing procedures. In this paper, after we established a virtual ILS procedures at Taean Airfield in which ILS installation is impossible due to environmental requirements and airspace restrictions, flight test was performed by Cessna Skyhawk 172 to compare the virtual ILS procedures and curved approach procedure and the advantage of curved approach was confirmed.

A Study on the Scheduling of Planned Maintenance for Multicomponent System with Hidden Failures : Focusing on Inspection Cost (다품목 시스템의 Hidden Failure를 고려한 계획정비 스케줄링에 관한 연구 : 검사비용을 중심으로)

  • The scheduling of planned maintenance problem of a system consisting of a number of components was studied. The purpose of maintenance scheduling is to minimize the cost of maintaining long-term operations. On the system side, the cost of a system shutdown can be minimized by grouping and inspecting a number of components. In addition, proper inspection cycles can be selected for each component to identify the failure sufficiently early to minimize the cost of the failure. To reduce the complexity of the calculations, the 'base interval approach' used in previous studies was applied and, in addition, the inspection cost savings from simultaneous inspections of multiple components were considered. To compare the effectiveness of inspection cost savings, this paper presents the results of simulation analysis performed by referring to the cases in the existing studies.
