An Automatic Construction of ISA relations of Wordnet Using Wiki Definitions (Wiki정의로부터 ISA를 추출할 수 있는 언어적 규칙)

  • The paper aims at showing the subsumption relations of the Wordnet can be captured automatically from a dynamic encyclopedia such as Wikipedia with a meaningful precision. The idea behind the proposal is that a knowledge base in the form of Wordnet can be dynamically obtained and maintained accordingly to the online dictionaries so that the scalability of knowledge base construction may be achieved to some degree. To show the plausibility of dynamic ISA construction, we have tested how well the ISA relations among the 100 technology terms selected from the Wordnet can be saved from the ISA construction by the wiki definitions of the selected terms. As a result the wiki definition led to the ISA relations of the Wordnet with the precision of 80%.

  • This paper investigates the performance characteristics of the data link layer of the 1996 version of IEC/ISA fieldbus which is developed as internatioal standard of fieldbus. A discrete-event simulation model of the data link layer of IEC/ISA fieldbus is developed. Using the simulation model, this paper identifies the network parameters that influence the performance of prioritys scheme and real-time data transmission, and analyzes the delay performance of IEC/ISA fieldbus with respect to the change of network parameters. The simulation model also integrates continuous-time simulation model of a control system as application process. Using the integrated simulation model, this study investigates the effect of network-induced delay on the performance of control system. Since the simulation model developed in this study can predict the network performance, it will be effectively utilized in the design phase of control and automation systems that adopt the IEC/ISA fieldbus.

  • Fieldbus provides a real-time data communication among field devices in the process control and manufacturing automation systems. In this paper, a Petri Net model of the 1993 draft of IEC/ISA fieldbus which is proposed as an international standard of fieldbus network is developed. Based on the Petri Net model, discrete-event simulation model of IEC/ISA fieldbus network is developed. This paper evaluates the network induced delay in the data link layer of IEC/ISA fieldbus using the simulation model. In addition, an integrated discrete-event/continuous-time simulation model of fieldbus system and distributed control system is developed. This paper investigates the real-time data processing capability of IEC/ISA fieldbus and the effect of network-induced delay to the performance of control system.

  • Fieldbus is the real-time communication network for process control and manufacturing automation systems. IEC/ISA fieldbus was proposed as an international standard of fieldbus network. This protocol is operated on the basis of token-passing and scheduling mechanism. In this paper, we analyze the performance characteristics of the 1996 version of IEC/ISA fieldbus systems.

  • Recently, wireless technology gains attention for industrial networks due to low cost, flexibility, relatively easy installation and most importantly, solving the rouring issue. ISA100.11a is one of promising standard for wireless industrial networks (WINs). Data traffic in industrial networks are known to be periodic and must satisfy the real-time property namely deadline. Therefore, in this paper, we proposed to apply deadline monotonic scheduling to periodic tasks in ISA100.11a networks and to evaluate the performance of ISA100.11a by checking the schedulability and beacon frame overhead. Simulation results showns, that our proposed scheme can reduces the network overhead while maintaining schedulability as compared to the previous algorithm. In addition, by reducing the network overhead, our proposed scheme can send more data without degrading the overall performance of WINs.
