  • Image which appears in fashion illustration on the late twentieth century is not the representative image as an equivalence to the real fashion styles but the virtual image which bears no relation to any reality. The purpose of this study is review the concept of virtuality and analyze in which way virtual image is expressed in fashion illustrations on the background of Jean Baudrillard's simulacre theory. In post-modem paintings the expression methods of image-virtualization were image mixing through photo-image appropriation, image overlapping, and the icons inserted unreasonably, the focus-out effect through scrubbing and the over-painting on the photograph. Image-virtualization in fashion illustration was expressed through image mixing and expression of image uncertainty. Image mixing was made by photo-image appropriation, image overlapping, connection of heterogeneous images and using interface image, and uncertain image was expressed through the expression of visual ambiguity and virtual movement.

  • In this paper, we present a countermeasure for a various trouble occurred in secure communication of document image. We Propose a security system for transmission of document image using mixing algorithm that the third party cannot conceive secure transmission of information instead of existing scheme which depend on crypto-degree of security algorithm, itself. For this, RM, DM and RDM algorithm for mixing of secure bits are proposed and applied to digital signature for mixing for secure document and mixing for non-secure document by secure document. Security system for document image involves not only security scheme for document image transmission itself, but also digital signature scheme. The transmitter embeds secretly the signatures onto secure document, embeds it to non-secure document and transfers it to the receiver. The receiver makes a check of any forgery on the signature and the document. Because the total amount of transmitted data and the image quality are about the same to those of the original document image, respectively, the third party cannot notice the fact that signatures and secure document are embedded on the document image. Thus, the probability of attack will be reduced.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze how the fiber properties and mixing ratio of softwood and hardwood pulp affect on roundness of printed image. Softwood pulp and hardwood pulp were refined to 400 and 600ml CSF by Valley beater and handsheets of 70 g/$m^2$ basis weight were made at different mixing ratios of hardwood and softwood pulp. The roundness, dot area, and shape of the printed dot were measured by Image Analyzer. The depths and shapes of the acridine orange penetration into paper were measured by CLSM. With higher mixing ratio of hardwood pulp, the paper showed higher air-permeability and better formation, especially at lower freeness. The roundness of the printed image became better and the dot size became smaller when the amount of hardwood pulp increased. Penetration depth of acridine orange by CLSM became greater and roundness increased to real circle when the amount of hardwood pulp increased. It was thought that higher mixing ratio of hardwood fibers resulted in efficient penetration by better formation with uniform micro-pore distribution and it increased roundness. It was thought that fiber properties and mixing ratio affected the structure of paper and the shape of the printed dot. This study showed that the measurement of depth of the liquid penetration into paper without destruction and contact was feasible. Moreover, this method showed that the shape of the liquid penetration was measurable.

  • A method is proposed in this paper to estimate the workability of self-compacting concrete (SCC) in different mixing conditions with different mixers and mixing volumes by recording the mixing process based on deep learning (DL). The SCC mixing videos were transformed into a series of image sequences to fit the DL model to predict the SF and VF values of SCC, with four groups in total and approximately thirty thousand image sequence samples. The workability of three groups SCC whose mixing conditions were learned by the DL model, was estimated. One additionally collected group of the SCC whose mixing condition was not learned, was also predicted. The results indicate that whether the SCC mixing condition is included in the training set and learned by the model, the trained model can estimate SCC with different workability effectively at the same time. Our goal to estimate SCC workability in different mixing conditions is achieved.

  • The handicap for investigating the aero-optical effect focuses on the accurate prediction on the index refraction fluctuation or density fluctuation. In recent years, with the development of CFD techniques and optical experimental techniques, the comprehension have developed on the aero-optical transmitting effect in many kinds of complex flow. This study mainly introduces the optical aberration in compressible mixing layer. And then the debates about the mechanism of aero-optical effects and assessment of image blur also present.

  • We suggest binary image decryption system using two-wavc mixing in Photorefractive crystal. Compared with a conventional method, this method can make optical alignment easily, and brighten the encrypted image even if a small input signal, by index grating of photorefractive crystal. Also it can reconstruct the encrypted image by only reference beam in real time.

  • We performed experiments to measure a single-phase upward flow in a 5 × 5 rod bundle with spacer grids using a particle image velocimetry, focusing on the crossflow. The Reynolds number based on the hydraulic diameter and the bulk velocity is 10,000. The ratio of pitch between rods and rod diameter is 1.4 and spacer grid is installed periodically. The turbulence in the rod bundle results from the combination of a forced mixing and natural mixing. The forced mixing by the spacer grid persists up to 10Dh from the spacer grid, while the natural mixing is attributed to the crossflow between adjacent subchannels. The combined effects contribute to a sinusoidal distribution of the time-averaged stream-wise velocity along the lateral direction, which is relatively weak right behind the spacer grid as well as in the gap. The streamwise and lateral turbulence intensities are stronger right behind the spacer grid and in the gap. Based on these findings, we newly defined a modified mixing coefficient as the ratio of the lateral turbulence intensity to the time-averaged streamwise velocity, which shows a spatial variation. Finally, we compared the developed model with the measured data, which shows a good agreement with each other.

  • In this paper, the theory and experiments on the one-way optical image transmission through optical fiber by using degenerate four wave mixing in BSO single crystal are demonstrated. From the theoretical analysis, the diffraction efficiency of phase conjugate wave in BSO single crystal is greatly dependent on applied electric field intensity, diffraction grating period formed in the crystal and incident beam ratio, those are also in good agreement with the experimental results. Based on the experimental results, we have arranged the typical degenerate four wave mixing system in the optimal conditions (applied electric field, E. = 5kV/cm` diffraction grating period, 3\ulcorner` beam ratio of backward pump wave versus signal wave, 2.7) and realized one-way optical image transmission system through optical fiber using BSO single crystal.

  • This study proposes a method of blending visible and near infrared images to enhance edge details and local contrast. The proposed method consists of radiance map generation and color compensation. The radiance map is produced by a Laplacian pyramid and a soft mixing method based on principal component analysis. The color compensation method uses the ratio between the composed radiance map and the luminance channel of a visible image to preserve the visible image chrominance. The proposed method has better edge details compared to a conventional visible and NIR image blending method.
