The purpose of this study was to identify the searching method and application of intoner design trend of interior designer. The questionnaire survey were used. The subjects of questionnaire survey were 50 interior designers in 6 interior design firms. Frequency, percentage, and cross-tab were used for data analysis. The major results were as follows. 1) Interior designers thought that consumers visiting at apartment model house were concerned about interior design trend and aware of interior design reflected trend. So interior designer gave expression to interior design trend. And they needed information about interior design trend and consumer's interior design preference. 2) Interior designers found interior design trend or consumer's preference from some exhibition or fair, journal, and internet materials. 3) Interior design trend was mainly expressed in living room design. And Interior designers utilized finishing material and color in expression of interior design trend.

As the environmental pollution is intensified, the interest in the conservation and quality of global environment is also increasing. Interior design affects on environmental conservation as well as the quality of outdoor and indoor environment through all phases of interior design. Therefore, interior designers should do environment-friendly design. The purpose of this study was to examine the consciousness and application degree of environment-friendly interior design in actual project by interior designers. The study was conducted by a questionnaire survey. The subjects were 215 interior designers working in Seoul area. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1) The 33 representative elements of environment-friendly interior design were selected and categorized into 5 fields: resources and materials, energy savings, ecological environments, indoor environments, and space effectiveness. These would be useful to carry out environment-friendly interior design projects and related researches. 2) Many interior designers didn't understand what the environment-friendly interior design is correctly, even though they were interested in it. Therefore, the educational program of environment-friendly interior design should be developed. 3) Even though interior designers thought most elements of environment-friendly interior design very important, they didn't apply them well to actual projects. This implies that alternatives for activating them are needed.

This study aims to find out various users' diverse interior design needs for their housing and interior design through the personality, which is intrinsic and consistent traits of the individual. The survey research followed the literature reviews including personality studies and interior design assessments. 176 undergraduate and graduate students as controlled by age, sex, and major answered the questionnaire. Their housing and interior design attitudes, the semiotic assessment of interior design styles, and interior design preference were compared in accordance with four pairs of preference dichotomy of MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator): Extraversion -Introversion, Sensing-iNtuition, Thinking-Feeling, Judging-Perceiving. As a result, the framework of housing and interior design needs by the users' personality types are proposed. It shows specific needs for 16 types of personality based on eight preference dichotomy: extroversion-open, introversion-closed, sensing-functional, intuition-emotional, thinking-restricted, feeling-receptive, judging-simple, and perceiving-creative.

This study focuses on understanding the design characteristics of interior styles reflected in contemporary residential spaces by choosing and analyzing some design cases, reflecting interior styles of various countries, which is broadcasted through an interior design cable television in the U.S. Moreover, this study is meaningful because it provides a chance to extend the scope of study to the improving and developing Korean interior style for clarifying Korean identity to make Korean image by the comparison with other cultural spheres. In this study, after sorting 10 interior- style types and 90 design cases from the 12 cable television that mainly manage interior design projects, I grasp interior-design characteristics of each cases classified by form/expression and material. Research objects of the form/expression part for the interior-design characteristics are limited to furniture, textile, and ornaments, and those of material part are limited to furniture and ornaments.

As the result of investigating domestic interior design (interior architecture) field-related laws, it was found that interior design (interior architecture) is not recognized as in independent area due to weak classification standards by Korean standard industrial classification and job classification. Korean standard industrial classification is applied as a standard setting limits to applicable targets and industrial fields for laws related to general administration and industrial policy other than various statistic purposes. Also, the standard industrial classifications regarding the industry field determines the laws or applicable tax rates, government support and such according to the classification, and thus is very important. Moreover, interior architecture field is largely different from general architecture due to specialization and distinct characteristics, but due to the comprehensive concept of architecture industry regulations, it is considered the proper assessment for the professionalism is not conducted. Also, interior architecture field has irrational contradictions that is not independent with a clear definition and industry field classification not only in legal system and trade customs. Therefore, The following is proposed as the plan to strengthen the domestic/international competitiveness and system improvements for interior architecture. (1)interior design (interior architecture) must be amended as an industrial classification that can coexist with architecture. (2)interior design (interior architecture) must be amended as a job classification that can coexist with architecture. (3)Among the design tasks of an architect, approval for the design task field of interior architecture field must be legislated. -In architect design standard contract (the existing architecture design task scope and quality standard table) of a structure, among the tasks by request of the owner, (1)interior design tasks shall be legislated. It should be legislated so that interior design (interior architecture) majors can be included as well. (4)The task field of interior design that coexists with design must be amended. (5)National contract law - among contract method by negotiation, specialty item must be vitalized.

Today, it is a fact that interior design plays a very important role as much as architecture on contributing to our society as a rising new professional field. On the other hand, our interior design education is still in immagture stage unlike the graudal development of the mood of interior design line , If the interior design field has any educational value to invest to be noticed as an environmental design that creates the human environment. There are great deal of meanings to indicate the direction for better education after recognizing the manu different problems on presently offering interior design education. Therefore, the objectives of this study is , after establishing the innovative methods of education and course contents of the four year interior design program, to produce the interior designers of manifold abilities, who is able to fit well in the professional practice, in order to materialize the settlement of interior design education which will be the key point in our circumstances, which has ow social recognition toward interior design. There were four phases in this study. First was to gather and to analyze information from printed materials, such as curriculum and catalog from each institution. Secondly, we had collected existing previous studies in all interior design area in order to sude as references. Thirdly, we have managed to suggest ideal improvement for better basic design program in the area of interior design education after the arranging and analyzing . Finally, we were able to persuade the importance of improved basic design program to the interior design education parties and to suggest the direction for the future. Because interior design as a scholastic pursuit is combined practical application study by the art and technology, it emphasizes specialty . From that reason interior design education must be performed as professional specialist education instead of vocational education. In another words, the ultimate goal of the interior design objectives must be in producing professional specialist.

Sustainable interior design is defined as interior design in which all systems and materials are designed with an emphasis on integration into a whole for the purpose of minimizing the negative impacts and maximizing the positive impacts on environmental, economic, and social systems over the life cycle of the interior components of a building. To achieve sustainability, it is important to pay attention to the design factors that significantly affect environmental eco-system. The purpose of this study was to describe how interior designers applied sustainable intoner design factors and how important they perceived sustainable interior design factors to be. Internet-based survey of interior design practitioners was conducted to collect data. A random sample was drawn from the American Society of Interior Designers membership list. Findings indicated that although interior designers acknowledge the importance of sustainable design practice, they have not frequently applied it to their projects. The results of this study suggest future educational strategies for students majoring in interior design and continuing education for intoner design professionals.

This paper explores idea of the integration of text and image information in interior design. In this paper, we designed a structure of text and image information. Text information includes the information about materials and projects, and image information includes images of interior design. Material information consists of such as name and price of materials. Image information involves images of interior design that have been scanned and categorized into 15 groups according to the building regulation. Project information consists of construction brief and materials relevant to the image of interior design. The interior design information that is based on cases offers various information to designer and customers. In addition, the connection between text information and image information improves the quality of interior design by decreasing the trial and error in interior design processes. Finally, we discuss the method that integrates text and image information of interior design.

Now that 15 years have passed since its introduction to 4 year college in Korea and we have 51 majors in the field of Intoner design established at 47 universities as of 2003, we are in the position to seek the improvement of its educational qualify. With a view to provide data for the setup of proper educational purpose, it has classified their divisions(departments) according to their major names and belonged colleges of the universities and considered their geographical distributions, groupings of curriculum, their framing and features of a standard curriculum. 1)Divisions of the universities where the major of interior design belongs are divided into three categories of design division (design 8t arts, arts), home economics division (home economics, natural science) and architectural division. For the development of the major, universities to which circumstances permit are recommended to establish an independent college of interior design following the . cases in the US. 2) Geographical preponderance of interior design major on Seoul and Gyeongsang Province is desired to be improved. 3) Curriculum of interior design, which is classified into introduction, history of interior design, theory of interior design, design of interior space, digital technology, design elements of inner space, technology of interior design, behavior of environmental psychology, design management and other subjects, was made into a table by divisions. To sum up, curriculum of interior design concentrates on basic design theory throughout all divisions. In connection with the selection of division by high school-graduates or their parents, design division is recommended for those who desire to major in design elements and design management, home economics division for those who desire to major in space design and behavior of environmental psychology and architectural division for those who desire to major in Interior space design, interior design technology and regulations. 4) This research can contribute to the settlement of desirable curriculum for the interior design education, thus upgrading the education level of the major in Korea.

The protection of Design is very important issues in these days. Even though Interior Design is also one of important design sections, it is relatively unprotected by formal intellectual property laws, yet creativity and innovation flourish. The needs for protection of Interior Design have been creased. The aim of this study is to suggest the weakness of the system for protection of Interior Design. The proposed research is comprised of two themes. One is to research Acts related to protection of Interior Design. The second is to study the registered cases under the Design Protection Acts. These two theme is generated by the comparative review between ROK and U.S.A. Through these comparative results, this study propose some considerations for an effective protection for Interior Design. Design need to be registered in the hole image of the space not a partial element. The concept needs to be protected because it is more effective way to respond the copying. Exterior for facade and Interior Design need to be registered in one registration to use the protection system actively.
