Analysis of Inverter-Fed Induction Motor Using F.E.M and Harmonic Equivalent Circuit (슬롯피치 경계 조건을 이용한 인버터 구동 유도 전동기의 회전자 등가회로 정수 추출 및 특성해석)

  • An inverter-fed induction is driven by a harmonic voltage source so that it is necessary to be analysed by time-stepping F.E.M. But it takes so long time that disadvantageous to design. This paper presents a simple analysis method for inverter-fed induction motor using FEM and harmonic equivalent circuit. First, the rotor bar resistance and the leakage reactance are determinated by FEA for 1 slot region in rotor to consider the skin effect and the saturation. Secondly, the characteristic of the motor is analyzed by the harmonic equivalent circuits consisting of the obtained parameters from the FEA. This method is carried out to analyze an induction motor driven by the sinusoidal voltage and the inverter. The results are verified by comparing with those of the time-step F.E.A and the experiment.

  • A simple analysis method for inverter-fed induction motor using F.E.M and harmonic equivalent circuit is proposed. And an optimum shape of rotor slot for 2Hp inverter-fed induction motor is determined by combining the proposed analysis method and an optimization algorithm. Conjugate gradient method is used for the optimization algorithm. The optimization is performed for higher efficiency and reduction of harmonic loss in the inverter-fed induction motor. The optimization results are verified by comparing with those of the time-step F.E.A.

  • Voltage varing Fate dv/dt which is applied to induction motor usually makes unnegligible leakage current and it flows through stator winding and motor frame. This kind of harmonic leakage current makes effect on power source and cuases electromagnetic trouble because the motor frame has earth. Therefore in this study, a high frequency induction motor model is developed and analyze the motor performance to explain the phenomena. Inverter model is also developed and is combined with the motel model to prepare the basis of the high frequency effects on inverter fed induction motor.

  • The PWM inverter drive may cause an over voltage at the motor terminal, which imposes severe electric stresses on the inter-turn insulation of motor windings. Unlike low-voltage induction motors, high-voltage induction motors have a stator type of form-wound coil for insulation and are insulated to the slot and the coil. So, this paper presents a PWM 3-level inverter, H-Bridge cascaded 7-level inverter and High-voltage induction motor model. It then analyzes the voltage that generates at the input terminal of the high-voltage induction motor fed by each inverter. Also, in order to examine a factor that influences the switching surge voltage, this paper proposes the system equivalent model and performs the case studies using EMTP.

  • It is required to analyze the characteristics of inverter-fed induction motor according to the increase of inverter uses. However the previous simulation researches usually uses simplified induction motor model and fixed power source because the difficulties of their modeling and analysis. In this study, high frequency induction motor is simulated and the induction motor model considering high frequency characteristics is developed and it is combined with inverter model. With these, from the sinusoidal commercial frequency to PWM high frequency, induction motor characteristics can be simulated and analyzed.

  • An inverter driven induction motor has more superior dynamic characteristic than sine wave driven induction motor. But it has a problem with shaft voltage and bearing current in drive-motor system. This paper presents the analysis of bearing current in inverter-fed induction motor. The proposed method is based on using numerical method (FEM) to derive parasitic parameters in motor. Using the electric field analysis with FEM, the stored energy in dielectric materials of the motor can be calculated and the parasitic capacitances are obtained. Then we compared the proposed method with a conventional method in variable frequency and load conditions. From the comparision of simulation and experiment result, we confirmed that the proposed method is valid.

  • This paper shows the characteristic analysis for an inverter fed induction motor by the 2-D F.E.A. in variation of the air gap length. Harmonic effects of the induction rioter with different air gap length driven by the 6 step voltage of inverter ate investigated. And the results of the characteristic analysis on the inverter fed induction motor are compared with those of sinusoidal voltage fed motor.

  • In this paper, a performance evaluation of different current regulators for induction motor drive systems fed by IGBT inverter is presented. The twoparts of current regulation are considered : current error compensation part, voltage modulation part. The characteristics of hysteresis, synchronous PI, decoupled PI, predictive, deadbeat and stage feedback controllers are analyzed and the steady-state performances and transient responses of current regulation are well compared through the simulation and experimental results.

  • This paper describes a fast response control of an inverter-fed induction Motor. The transfer function of the induction Motor controlled by this control method ie very similar to that of a separately exited dc motor. This paper presents the linear control method for the transfer function in the control of an inverter-fed induction motor, Acceding to this control, the response speed is correctly grasped faking the leakage inductances into account and the inverter-fed induction motor is controlled with fast response.
