Genomic Analysis of the Extremely Halophilic Archaeon Halobacterium noricense CBA1132 Isolated from Solar Salt That Is an Essential Material for Fermented Foods

  • The extremely halophilic archaeon Halobacterium noricense is a member of the genus Halobacterium. Strain CBA1132 (= KCCM 43183, JCM 31150) was isolated from solar salt. The genome of strain CBA1132 assembled with 4 contigs, including three rRNA genes, 44 tRNA genes, and 3,208 open reading frames. Strain CBA1132 had nine putative CRISPRs and the genome contained genes encoding metal resistance determinants: copper-translocating P-type ATPase (CtpA), arsenical pump-driving ATPase (ArsA), arsenate reductase (ArsC), and arsenical resistance operon repressor (ArsR). Strain CBA1132 was related to Halobacterium noricense, with 99.2% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity. Based on the comparative genomic analysis, strain CBA1132 has distinctly evolved; moreover, essential genes related to nitrogen metabolism were only detected in the genome of strain CBA1132 among the reported genomes in the genus Halobacterium. This genome sequence of Halobacterium noricense CBA1132 may be of use in future molecular biological studies.

ON A GROUP CLOSELY RELATED WITH THE AUTOMORPHIC LANGLANDS GROUP

  • Let LK denote the hypothetical automorphic Langlands group of a number field K. In our recent study, we briefly introduced a certain unconditional non-commutative topological group ${\mathfrak{W}}{\mathfrak{A}}{\frac{\varphi}{K}}$, called the Weil-Arthur idèle group of K, which, assuming the existence of LK, comes equipped with a natural topological group homomorphism $NR{\frac{\varphi}{K}^{Langlands}}$ : ${\mathfrak{W}}{\mathfrak{A}}{\frac{\varphi}{K}}$ → LK that we called the "Langlands form" of the global nonabelian norm-residue symbol of K. In this work, we present a detailed construction of ${\mathfrak{W}}{\mathfrak{A}}{\frac{\varphi}{K}}$ and $NR{\frac{\varphi}{K}^{Langlands}}$ : ${\mathfrak{W}}{\mathfrak{A}}{\frac{\varphi}{K}}$ → LK, and discuss their basic properties.

Effects of Motor Skill Learning and Treadmill Exercise on Motor Performance and Synaptic Plasticity in Harmaline Induced Cerebellar Injury Model of Rat

  • This study is intended to examine the motor skill learning and treadmill exercise on motor performance and synaptic plasticity in the cerebellar injured rats by harmaline. Experiment groups were divided into four groups and assigned 15 rats to each group. Group I was a normal control group(induced by saline); Group II was a experimental control group(cerebellar injured by harmaline); Group III was a group of motor skill learning after cerebellar injured by harmaline; Group IV was a group of treadmill exercise after cerebellar injured by harmaline. In motor performance test, the outcome of group II was significantly lower than the group III, IV(especially group III)(p<.001). In histological finding, the experimental groups were destroy of dendrities and nucleus of cerebellar neurons. Group III, IV were decreased in degeneration of cerebellar neurons(especially group III). In immunohistochemistric response of synaptophysin in cerebellar cortex, experimental groups were decreased than group I. Group III's expression of synaptophysin was more increased than group II, IV. In electron microscopy finding, the experimental groups were degenerated of Purkinje cell. These result suggest that improved motor performance by motor skill learning after harmaline induced is associated with dynamically altered expression of synaptophysin in cerebellar cortex and that is related with synaptic plasticity.

烏梅丸과 烏梅가 DSS로 유발된 생쥐의 염증성 장 질환에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Ohmae-hwan and Mume Fructus on DSS-Induced Inflammatory Bowel Dise v vvgase in a Mice Model System)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Ohmae-hwan (OMH) and Mume Fructus (MF) on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Methods: Mice were divided into 4 groups: a normal group, control group, MF group, and OMH group. Three groups, excluding the normal group, were fed a 5% solution of dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) in water for 10 days to induce inflammatory bowel disease. From the fourth day of DSS treatment, the control group was given distilled water only, the MF group was given MF powder in distilled water, and the OMH group was given dried OMH extract powder in distilled water for 7 days. Results: For each animal, changes in body weight, colon length, and component levels in blood and colon tissues after each treatment were noted. The weight in the control group and MF group decreased slightly compared with that in the OMH group, and the colon length in the MF group and OMH group was more than that in the control group. TNF-α and WBC were decreased in both the MF group and the OMH group. RBC was increased in the OMH group, like in the normal group, compared with the control group and MF group. Hb and PLT of each group were not significantly different. Regarding changes in the colon tissues, both the MF group and OMH groups recovered similar to the normal group. Conclusions: Thus, treatment with OMH and MF seems to be effective against inflammatory bowel disease, and OMH is likely to increase body weight and induce RBC recovery better than MF.

자생 산사(Crataegus pinnatifida BUNGE)의 고지혈증 개선 효과 (Improvement Effect of Hyperlipidemia by Wild Haw (Crataegus pinnatifida BUNGE))

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of the Crataegus pinnatifida BUNGE extract supplementation of non esterified fatty acid (NEFA), concentrations of serum protein and electrolyte in sera on the hyperlipidemic rats. Concentrations of NEFA and globulin were remarkably lower in the Crataegus pinnatifida BUNGE extract group (HW group) than in the hyperlipidemic group (HD group), but no difference between control group (CO group) and extract of Crataegus pinnatifida BUNGE supplement in control group (NW group). However, concentrations of electrolyte K and A/G were higher in the HW group than HD group. Concentrations of total protein, albumin, electrolyte of total Ca, Pi, Na and Cl were no difference between HW group than HD group. The results indicate that Crataegus pinnatifida BUNGE extract was in the improvement of hyperlipidemic rats.

  • In order to investigate the effects of Kaejibokryungwhan, Sobokchugeotang and Dohongsamultang on mesangial cell proliferation and fibronectin synthesis, laboratory study was performed. The results are summarized as follows; 1. Mesangial cell proliferation was significantly decreased in the Kaejibokryungwhan group and the Dohongsamultang group compared with the Control group. In the Sobokchugeotang group, the mesangia1 cell proliferation activity was lesser than Control group, but it was statistically non-significant. In Kaejibokryungwhan group, the Sobokchugeotang group and Dohongsamultang group, mesangial cell proliferation was significantly decreased compared with the Hydrocortisone group 2. In the group, which contained fetal bovine serum, fibronectin synthesis was decreased in the Kaejibokryungwhan group, the Sobokchugeotang group and Dohongsamultang group compared with Control group, but the difference was statistically non-significant. In Kaejibokryungwhan group, Sobokchugeotang group and Dohongsamultang group, fibronectin was less decreased compared with that of Hydrocortisone group. 3. In the group, which contained fetal bovine serum, fibronectin synthesis was significantly decreased in Kaejibokryungwhan group and Sobokchugeotang group than those of Control group. In Dohongsamultang group, the fibronectin synthesis was decreased than Control group, but the difference was statistically non-significant. In Sobokchugeotang group, the fibronectin synthesis was decreased than Hydrocortisone group, but it was statistically non-significant. According to the above results, the mesangial cell proliferation and fibronectin systhesis could be reduced by Kaejibokryungwhan group significantly.
