  • This study analyzed randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and case studies investigating Chuna manual therapy and variations of this term, for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. On June $15^{th}$, 2019, 6 online databases were used to retrieve studies. A total of 527 articles were retrieved, and 14 RCTs and 20 case studies were selected for review. Typically, the frequency of Chuna therapy was 1-2 times/week. The most common period of treatment was 12 months in RCTs and 3-6 months in case studies. Cobb's angle was the most frequent evaluation index used (11 RCTs and 20 case studies). In control groups, brace treatment was used in 8 RCTs. In 6 RCTs and 20 case studies, Cobb's angle significantly decreased after Chuna therapy, and in 4 RCTs, Chuna therapy was as effective as brace treatment, with no significant difference between groups. Adverse events were not reported except for minor reactions in only 3 case studies. This review suggested that Chuna therapy for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis was more advantageous than and as effective as brace treatment in most cases, although the risk of bias in 13 RCTs was unclear.

  • Phototherapy have perpetual history, we can see an instance of it in Yellow Emperor's Conon of Medicine(黃帝內經) and Laser therapy is a field of Phototherapy being used frequently in the latest time. We treated patients with telangiectasia by laser therapy and experimented it's efficacy and studied the means of clinical application in Korean medicine. We report the capabilities of application of laser therapy, based on Korean medical theories by using resemblance between laser therapy with kyung-rak(經絡) control technique in the line that connects with the past.

  • Objectives This study was conducted to assess the effect of chuna manual therapy after hip arthroplasty. Methods We searched across 9 electronic databases (PubMed, Cochrane Library, Wangfang data, China National Knowledge Infrastructure [CNKI], Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System [OASIS], National Digital Science Library [NDSL], Korean Medical Database [KMBASE], Koreanstudies Information Service System [KISS], Research Information Sharing Service [RISS]) to find randomized controlled clinical trials for chuna manual therapy after hip arthroplasty. Results On inclusion criteria, 11 appropriate studies were included and analyzed. The deep vein thrombosis incidence of the chuna manual therapy group was statistically lower than the conventional treatment group (p=0.0002). Chuna manual therapy significantly improved the Harris hip score compared with conventional treatment (p<0.00001). Also, chuna manual therapy combined with herbal fumigation therapy significantly elevated the hip joint function score of Harris hip score compared with the conventional therapy group (p<0.00001). Conclusions The systematic review showed that chuna manual therapy had significant effects on hip arthroplasty. Nonetheless, considering the high risk of bias and geographic bias, further research with well-designed studies is required to support the effectiveness of chuna manual therapy.

  • Objectives To evaluate the evidence supporting the effectiveness of Soyeom pharmacopuncture therapy for Pain. Methods We conducted search across 6 electronic databases (Pubmed, CAJ, Oasis, RISS, DBPIA and KoreanTK) and 2 journals to find clinical trials that used Soyeom pharmacopuncture therapy as treatment for pain. The methodological quality of Randomized controlled clinical trials (RCTs) was assessed using the Cochrane Risk of Bias (RoB) tool, while NRCTs (Non-Randomized controlled clinical trials) were assessed using the Risk of Bias Assessment tool for Non-randomized Study (RoBANS) tool. Results Among 75 articles that were searched, 5 RCTs and 2 NRCTs were finally selected. Among 7 selected studies, all studies showed that Soyeom pharmacopuncture therapy has significant effect on Pain. Conclusions Our systematic review found encouraging but limited evidence of Soyeom pharmacopuncture therapy for Pain. We recommend clinical trials which compare the effectiveness of Soyeom pharmacopuncture therapy with other pharmacopuncture therapies to clarify the effectiveness of Soyeom pharmacopuncture therapy from other pharmacopuncture therapies.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect on both herbal medicine periodic therapy and western medicine for polycystic ovary syndrome subfertility. Methods: We searched 8 electronic databases and search keywords were 'PCOS' and 'periodic therapy' or 'cyclic treatment'. We included randomized controlled clinical trials (RCTs) using the periodic therapy combined western medicine for PCOS patients. Results: We selected 8 studies. In studies, there were three studies in which the menstrual cycle was divided into 2 periods, one study divided into 3 periods, and four study divided into 4 periods. The meta-analysis of the 7 trials indicated that pregnancy rates integrated clomiphene and periodic therapy were higher than clomiphene alone. Conclusions: The periodic therapy combined western medicine for PCOS subfertility patients seems to improve pregnancy rates from this research. However, this result should be taken cautiously by unclear risk of bias. It would be necessary to fulfill further clinical study with herbal medicine periodic therapy on PCOS in Korean medicine to establish standard evidence of them.
