Objectives: This study aimed to lay the foundation for the Korean medicine infertility treatment support program to be implemented in the future by analyzing the results of the Korean medicine infertility treatment support program implemented by Incheon metropolitan city. Methods: 224 patients applied for the Korean medicine infertility treatment support program conducted by Incheon metropolitan city and had three months of herbal medicine treatment and three months of follow-up time. Information on general, demographic, and infertility-related characteristics of patients before treatment was collected. Information on treatment contents performed by Korean medical doctors during treatment, and information on results and satisfaction after treatment was collected. In order to evaluate the safety of treatment, blood tests were performed before and after treatment, and abnormal reactions were monitored. Results: Of 224 patients, 211 ended treatment, of which 45 (21.33%) succeeded in pregnancy. The characteristics of the successful and failure groups of pregnancy were found to be statistically significant differences in age, therapeutic history, parity, anti-müllerian hormone test results, and type of infertility of the patients and spouses. The most common pattern identification was kidney deficiency, and the most widely used prescription was Jogyeongjongok-tang. Patients were highly satisfied with the treatment of Korean medicine infertility. As a result of the safety evaluation, herbal medicine treatment was confirmed to be a safe treatment. Conclusions: In this study, clinical information on the Incheon metropolitan city Korean medicine infertility treatment support program was obtained. Based on this study, it is expected that the Korean medicine infertility treatment program in the future will guarantee more extensive treatments such as extending the treatment period or supporting korean herbal medicine to spouses.

Objectives : This study sought to identify the Korean medicine treatment satisfaction of 3,000 patients who are 19 or older with experiences of being treated with Korean medicine at Korean medicine clinics or Korean medicine hospitals after experiencing traffic accidents. Methods : Frequency analysis was carried out to identify the effectiveness and satisfaction of Korean medicine services, and independent sample t-test was carried out to compare the satisfaction of users with different characteristics. Lastly, cross analysis(chi-square) was carried out to examine the relation between satisfaction and willingness to recommend. Results : Firstly, 91.3% of the patients were satisfied with the medical services provided at Korean medicine clinics, with the most satisfactory Korean medicine treatments in the order of acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, Korean physical therapy, herbal acupuncture, Chuna manual therapy, herbal medicine, and others. Secondly, 71.3% of the patients answered that outpatient treatment was appropriate while 65.3% of the patients answered that hospitalized treatment was appropriate regarding duration of treatment at Korean medicine clinics, mostly being satisfied with the treatment duration at Korean medicine clinics and Korean medicine hospitals. Thirdly, in a survey on effectiveness of Korean medicine treatment compared to occidental medicine treatment, 85.9% of the patients answered: "the effectiveness of Korean medicine treatment is higher compared to occidental medicine or similar". Conclusion : From the results of this study, it was identified that satisfaction of Korean medicine treatment is high in motor insurance, and that higher satisfaction led to higher willingness to recommend Korean medicine treatment to others. Based on such results, the expansion of the role of Korean medicine could be understood.

This study is to observe the effect of Korean medicine treatment combined with electro-acupuncture and chuna manual treatment on tarsal tunnel syndrome inpatient. The patient, diagnosed as tarsal tunnel syndrome, was treated by Korean medicine treatment in combination with electro-acupuncture and chuna manual treatment. We measured visual analogue scale(VAS). Neuropathic pain scale(NPS) was adopted as a method of measuring the treatment results of pain & hypoesthesia. Rt. sole numbness & pain decreased from VAS 10 to VAS 4. Rt. foot paresthesia decreased from VAS 10 to VAS 4 and Rt. ankle pain was disappeared. NPS score decreased from 80 to 62. Korean medicine treatment in combination with electro-acupuncture and chuna manual treatment is proved to be helpful to improve the symptoms of the tarsal tunnel syndrome patient.

Objectives: This study investigates the latest clinical studies on Korean medicine treatment of chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) in China. Methods: A CNKI search investigated the last 10 years of clinical studies of Korean medicine treatments in Chinese medical journals for CSDH. The search focused on authors, publication years, types of studies, purposes of studies, methods and duration of treatment, evaluation criteria, and results of treatment. Results: In 19 studies, there were 14 randomized controlled trials (RCTs), 4 case series, and 1 case-control study. In all 19 studies, Korean medical treatment and Western treatment were combined. Herbal medicine was used in 19 studies and acupuncture treatment in 2 studies. The most frequently used prescription was Hyeolbuchukeo-tang-gagambang, and the most frequently used acupoint was PC6. In all 19 studies, the effectiveness of Korean medicine treatment performed in parallel with Western treatment was confirmed. Conclusions: In this study, Korean medicine combined with Western treatment for CSDH was effective. More clinical studies and case reports are required to develop a guided treatment for CSDH.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to report the clinical effectiveness of Korean medicine treatment on ruptured ovarian cyst. Methods: The patient diagnosed with ruptured ovarian cyst was treated with Korean medicine treatment during 10 days of hospitalization. The patient received Korean medicine treatment including herbal medicine, acupuncture and moxibustion. The effect of treatment on ruptured ovarian cyst was evaluated through the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) and Ultrasound. Result: After the treatment, the clinical symptoms of abdominal pain and fatigue were improved. Also, on transvaginal ultrasound, bleeding was almost absorbed. Conclusions: This case report proved that the Korean medicine treatment may be effective for improving clinical symptoms after ovarian cyst ruptured. However, further clinical study is needed in the furture to prove the effectiveness of Korean medicine treatment for ruptured ovarian cyst.

Objectives The purpose of this research is to investigate recent clinical treatment of Traditional Chinese Medicine for Compression Fracture. Methods We searched recent clinical studies about Oriental Medicine treatment in traditional chinese medical journals for Compression Fracture through China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI). Clinical articles published from 2012 to 2016 were analyzed. This study examined the authors, published years, types of study, number of sample, criteria for evaluation, periods, purposes of study and classified articles by techniques of treatment. Results 23 papers were selected from 98 studies. Most of articles were classified as RCT. The techniques of treatment were herb medicine, herb medicine apply therapy, herb medicine fumigation therapy, Dao yin exercise. Conclusions Various and valuable studies about treatment of Compression fracture performed in chinese medicine. And more studies using various treatment needed for Korean Medicine development.

The objective of this study is to investigate conservative treatment of pelvic fracture, and report that Korean rehabilitation treatment is effective for pelvic fracture. We reported a case about pelvic fracture treated with Korean rehabilitation treatment. We searched 10 domestic electronic databases to find reports on conservative treatment of pelvic fracture. We selected and analyzed 12 studies. In this case, pain, range of motion, and Oswestry Disability Index of patient were improved by Korean rehabilitation treatment. In analysis, traction, pelvic sling, hip spica cast, pelvic belt, medication are used in western medical treatment. Acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping, moxibustion, physical therapy, manual therapy are used in Korean medical treatment. Most of conservative treatments are effective for pain, bone union, osteoporosis, dysfunction. In this study, we expect further study of Korean rehabilitation treatment program for pelvic fracture to compensate existing conservative treatment.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to report the effect of Korean medicine treatments on a female and a male patient who were infertile and failed to in vitro fertilization(IVF) treatment. Methods: The patients are a 30-year-old female who had been diagnosed with the ovulation dysfunction caused by the depression of ovarian function, and a 33-year-old male who had been diagnosed with sperm defect. The female patient alone underwent Korean medicine treatment after the eighth failure in IVF treatment and the male patient received Korean medicine treatment along with his wife after he failed in the first IVF treatment. The Korean medicine applied include herb-medicine administration, acupuncture, moxibustion, Jwa-Hun, and Du-Han-Jok-Yeol treatment. Results: Through Korean medicine treatment the female patient had succeeded in the IVF treatment and she also recovered completely from allergic rhinitis. The male patient whose wife also received Korean medicine treatment with him got his wife pregnant naturally. Conclusions: This result concludes that Korean medicine treatment is effective in infertile patients. Therefore, there needs to be more of subsequent research on infertile patients that is based on Korean medicine treatment.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to report the clinical effectiveness of Korean medicine treatment on interstitial cystitis. Methods: The patient diagnosed with Interstitial cystitis/Bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS) was treated with Korean medicine treatment during 22 days of hospitalization. The patient received Korean medicine treatment including herbal medicine, acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, moxibustion, cupping and extracorporeal magnetic stimulation therapy. The effect of treatment on IC/BPS was evaluated through the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), voiding diary, and Interstitial Cystitis Symptom Index/Problem Index (ICSI/ICPI). Results: After the treatment, the clinical symptoms of IC/BPS such as pelvic pain, pelvic pressure, frequent urination and urinary urgency were improved. Also, the patient had better scores in ICSI/ICPI. Conclusions: This case report proved that the Korean medicine treatment may be effective for improving clinical symptoms of IC/BPS. However, a large-scale clinical study is needed in the future to prove the effectiveness of Korean medicine treatment for IC/BPS.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to report the clinical effectiveness of Korean medicine treatment on postmenopausal syndrome. Methods: The patient with postmenopausal syndrome with palpitation was treated with Korean medicine treatment during 14 days of hospitalization. The patient received Korean medicine treatment including herbal medicine, acupuncture and moxibustion. The effect of treatment on postmenopausal syndrome was evaluated through the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) and questionnaire. Palpitation and arrhythmia was evaluated by Electrocardiogram (ECG) and manual pulse diagnosis three times a day. Result: After the treatment, the clinical postmenopausal symptoms of palpitation and hot flush were improved. Also, ECG's result was improved ventricular premature contraction to normal ECG. Conclusions: This case report proved that the Korean medicine treatment may be effective for improving postmenopausal syndrome with palpitation and hot flush. However, further clinical study is needed in the future to prove the effectiveness of Korean medicine treatment for postmenopausal syndrome with palpitation and hot flush.
