Studied was a strategy of technology development for railway system in terms of railway network. First, The successful launch of the Korean HST system has not only decreased logistics burden but also significantly transformed the Korean trunk-line railway network, revolutionizing the logistics and technology sectors and reinvigorating the Korean railway industry in one century. Korean railway industry sector is now investing to develop many different types of railway system(G7, Post G7, tilting train...) so that these kinds of various railway system development should be integrated with the National Inter-modal Transportation Network Plan. To secure sufficient capacity that is required by the National Railroad Plan, the railway industry needs to establish mid- and long-term train purchase and operation strategies in compliance with railway construction and operation policies. During a railway construction planning, train operators, based on their train operation strategies, should come up with measures to closely cooperate with project operators from the planning stage through to the opening of a railway system. To be more precise, train operators should establish long-term train procurement plans reflecting both long-term national railroad network plans and plans for each railway line in order to suggest appropriate roles and schedules for each line. Also, based on the long-term railway plan, directions should be decided concerning the research and development of trains in advance.

The railway has been developed largely by the characteristic factors of the railway through change of the society and culture. The railway trends has been changing from instinctive methods to settle the mass transport of the early days, to sensitive methods to pursue the railway culture centering around human being. As dividing by period according to the changes of railway trends into the external nation, there are to analyze the development history of the railway design. Accordingly each nation (United Kingdom, Germany, France, Japan) and the style's change, to confirm the changes into the design applied in society and culture needs, and to analyze by a year in changes of the environment and the railway history from the 1800's to 2005, so there contribute in the development of railway design to present the paradigm of the future railway by analyzing the trend according to the changes of railway design and the life environment in this paper.

Because of global warming, the new environment energy policy was already announced. The role of Green-railways is increasing in the field of railway. The government announced a policy direction of science & technology basic plan. The field of railway transportation proposed various railway transportation policy and plans. In this paper, I presented technical trend analysis for railway policy and railway operation field. In this paper, we propose a pilot study to deploy the Railway Conflict Detection and Resolution System(RCDRS) in the context of Korean Railway(KORAIL). KORAIL plans to deploy in near future RCDRS, which is a decision support module placed on the top level of the Railway Traffic Management System(RTMS). This study entails the review of the state-of-art researches and projects in the field of the railway traffic management, as well as the analysis of the traffic characteristics of the major railroad lines in KORAIL. The analysis provides a basis to choose a solution approach for the railway conflict detection and resolution problem that each individual line faces. This study plays a role as a pilot study for a full systematic approach, in which interactions between lines require further advanced analysis to take the entire KORAIL lines into consideration rather than a myopic approach.

The decline of railway industry been a world-wide phenomenon. Recently, increased attention has therefore of railway systems has considerable impacts on the existing transport systems. Korea is expecting a era of high-speed railway and thus the need for the preexamination of such system emerges. This study is therefore concerned with the impacts on the conventional railway systems of the planned high-speed railway and its policy implication. The results revealed that the high-speed railway is almost exclusive to the conventional railway system emerges. This study is therefore concerned with the impacts on the conventional railway systems of the planned high-speed railway and its policy implication. The results revealed that the high-speed railway is almost exclusive to the conventional railway systems. The only impact is to induce some users of the conventional railway services, resulting in some excess track capacity of Kyungbu line. It dose however appear not to have any influence on the level of service for the conventional passenger services and rail freight transport. Consequently, it appears desirable to pay as much attention to the conventional railway systems as to the high-speed railway.

This paper analyzes Japan's consignment management of the Chosun Railway to the South Manchuria Railway. While Chosun Railway was entrusted, its management style differed significantly from that of Japan's direct management. After eight years of trust management, the direct management of Chosun Railway was returned to Japan. This of beyond border trust management is very rare. In addition, the management of Chosun Railway by South Manchuria Railway, which had an operation style similar to that of a private company, led to changes in Chosun Railway. This research analyzes the four key traits of South Manchuria Railway's consigned management. The first key trait is the initial Korean infrastructure and operation separation model. The second key trait is the international transportation and administration segregation. The third key trait is that it expanded the railway related businesses and led to the establishment of private railway companies. The fourth key trait is that the continental linked transportation was activated. Through analyses, it would be to create a comparative study of the resulting East Asian countries' operations. Furthermore, this research will in investigating the nature of Chosun Railway.

This paper presents a comparison of Korean and Manchurian railway system during the Japanese colonial era of Korea. While both railways share the common characteristics of an imperial railway, they revealed several differences. Firstly, the Manchurian railway was likely a private company, although it was operated half privately and half by the government. The Manchurian railway operated like the East Indian Company in India during the English colonial era. On the other hand, the Korean railway was fully operated by the government at a ministry level. While the Korean railway solely concentrated on the railway, the Manchurian railway was involved in regional development and the coal-mining industry as well. Secondly, in contrast to the Korean railway, the Manchurian railway was more lucrative, and was relatively more predominant regarding carriage of freights. Thirdly, railway officers in Korea were elected government bureaucrats, while Manchurian railway officers came from diverse political parties and social strata. After the annexation by the Kwantung Army, the Manchurian railway was mainly influenced by the military. The common characteristic here was that both railways were utilized for military purposes as imperial railways. In partilcular, the Manchurian railway executed military orders directly. Hereafter, through a comparative study between the Japanese and Taiwanese railways, a clear and accurate understanding of the characteristics of the Korean railway during the Japanese era will be revealed.

The coldproofness should be studied in order to operate the freight car by connecting the South and North Korea Railway. Actually, there is no standard for coldproofness in South Korea Railway, The standard for coldproofness of the Russian Railway, the Chiness Railway and the North Korea Railway was studied. From the analysis of these standards, the standard of coldproofness was proposed for the freight vehicle connecting the South and North Korean Railway.

Under the necessity certification of railway supplies, an applicant should check the procedure of urban railway law and the new railway safety law. Currently, the Korean railway standards (KRS), formerly managed by Korea Railroad, have been managed by the Korean Ministry of Construction and Transportation. According to Korean railway safety law and its ordinances, which were committed to Korea Railroad Research Institute. It were established for the guarantee of railway safety, the management of KRS including enactment and revision of technical standards for railway vehicle and components. In this investigation, the detailed management procedure will be introduced for the effective management of Certification of Railway Supplies.

The purpose of research will establish the foundation to enhance the skills of Railway Color Design in the future by accurately analysing the Railway Color characteristics. The emotion and demnds of times influences trend of Railway Color Design, the contents of this research also reflects trend in society and culture. The research contains the history of Railway Design and advance research of Railway Color trend especially influenced by society and culture in the from the 1960's to the year 2005. The study is based on the concept of Railway Color Design. it analyzed the related current of society, culture and Railway Color. Collected Railway Color samples(Railway 46 images) were studied by using visual sensation. The Munsell Color System was used as references. This research analyzed railway introduced as railway models by top 4 nation (United Kingdom, Germany, France, Japan) and Korea in the past years(1960-2005) for their Railway Color Design trend by Munsell Color System. Although the Railway industry has rapidly risen according to life style in society and culture, there has been a lack of organized data for Railway Color Planing. this research on the basis will offer the significant information for Railway Color Design.
