Mass Sensing Properties of Fatty Acids System LB Films (공진주파수와 저항을 이용한 지방산 LB막의 질량감지 특성)

  • There are lots of researches which are using quratz crystal in order to apply it to sensors, for example, mass detect sensor, humidity sensor, gas sensor, etc. We tried to apply quartz crystal to the sensor using the resonant frequency and the resistance properties. Four kinds of fatty acid which are having the same head group are coated at the surface of quartz crystal, the shift of the resonant frequency and the resistance are observed according to length of the tail group. Myristic acid$(C_{14})$, palmitic acid$(C_16)$, stearic acid$(C_{18})$, and arachidic acid$(C_{20})$ were coated by Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) technique. As results, the resonant frequency shift was observed linearly. However, there are some difference compared with Sauerbrey's equation. It can be explained by the effect of the temperature property and/or humidity. On the other hand, the shift of the resistance was observed nonlinearly.

  • In the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique, a monolayer on the water surface is transferred onto a substrate, which is raised and dipped through the surface. From this, multilayers can be obtained in which constituent molecules are periodically arranged. The LB technique has attracted considerable interest in the fabrication of electrical and electronic devices. Many researchers have investigated the electrical properties of monolayer and multiplayer films. Dendrimers represent a new class of synthetic macromolecules characterized by a regularly branched treelike structure. Multiple branching yields a large number of chain ends that distinguish dendrimers from conventional star-like polymers and microgels. The azobenzene dendrimer is one of the dendritic macromolecules that include the azo-group exhibiting a photochromic character. Due to the presence of the charge transfer element of the azo-group and its rod-shaped structure, these compounds are expected to have potential interest in electronics and ptoelectronics, especially in nonlinear optics. In the present paper, we give pressure stimulation to organic thin films and detect the induced displacement current.

  • The highly efficient photoelectric conversion of chlorophyll a (Chl a) monolayers and multilayers was investigated. Using the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique, Chl a monolayers and multilayers were fabricated onto optically transparent electrode, such as ITO glass. The photocurrent could be observed according to the light illumination. The action spectrum of the Chl a LB films was well consistent with its absorption spectrum. The possible application of the proposed system as a constituent of the artificial color recognition device was suggested.

  • Protein A molecular thin film was fabricated as a platform of antibody-based biosensor. For the immobilization of the protein A thin film, a viologen multilayer was built up using the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique, and then, protein A was adsorbed on the viologen LB film by an electrostatic interaction force, which was formed as a hetero-film structure. For the deposition of viologen, surface pressure area ($\pi$-A) isotherm was investigated. The fabricated protein A-viologen hetero LB film was investigated using atomic force microscopy (AFM). Using the developed molecular film, antibody immobilization and fluorescence measurement was carried out.

  • Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) technique can speak the best candidate of the future molecular electronic devices. But, precursor as molecular ultrathin film devices require the bulk property that are influenced by the molecular orientation. So, this device is one of current interest in molecular electronic device development of new materials. In this study, quantitative evaluation of molecular orientation in LB films of polyamic acid alkylamine salt was performed analysis experiment comparing the absorption or transmission intensity of the FT-IR spectrometer and reflection or absorption spectra with UV-visible absorption spectra. It could find that the polar angle(${\theta}$) of the dipole moment appears in about $68^{\circ}$ and the tilting angle of the alkyl chain is about $11.5^{\circ}$.

  • Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) technique is the best candidate for the future molecular electronic devices.   • A Stability to the dispersion solvent, which is acetonitrile, dichloromethane, benzene, chloroform and acetonitrile-benzene(1:1,v/v) of {N-docosyl pyridinium)-TCNQ(1:2)complex was investigated by U.V Spectrophotometer and was confirmed stabilized on acetonitrile, the dichloromethane and acetonitrile-benzene (1:1,v/v) for seven hours. Using $CdCl_2$buffer solution as subphase for LB films deposition, it was achived successively to fabricate the Y-type LB films of (N-docosyl pyridinium)-TCNQ(1:2)complex. For the sake of verifying the deposition of LB films, U.V is measured by variation of nominal layer number.

  • Studies and measurements of open circuit voltage in a metal/insulator/metal structure where metal are electrodes, when the insulator molecules have dipole moments all oriented parallel to each other have been reported here. The measured voltage has been shown to be directed related to the dipole moment of the molecules in the films. The insulator ultra thin films was deposited on them by the Langmuir-Blodgett technique to obtain the structure referred to as z type and Hetero structure of LB films.

  • Using a solution of polyamic acid salt obtained in combination with polyimide acid, we successfully prepared thermally stable multilayers(41, 35, 31 layers) films disilane-containing polyimide by Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) technique. We studied the electrically phenomena occurring at the metal(Au)/polyimide(Pl) LB film/metal(Au). Also, we then examined the of Pl LB films by means of current-voltage (I-V) and resistance measurement.
