LCD Defect Detection using Neural-network based on BEP (BEP기반의 신경회로망을 이용한 LCD 패널 결함 검출)

  • In this paper we show the LCD simulator for defect inspection using image processing algorithm and neural network. The defect inspection algorithm of the LCD consists of preprocessing, feature extraction and defect classification. Preprocess removes noise from LCD image, using morphology operator and neural network is used for the defect classification. Sample images with scratch, pinhole, and spot from real LCD color filter image are used. From some experiments results, the proposed algorithms show that defect detected and classified in the ratio of 92.3% and 94.5 respectively. Accordingly, in this paper, a possibility of practical implementation of the LCD defect inspection system is finally suggested.

  • For high end, large area displays, all current LC modes require some degree of optical compensation to improve the front of screen viewing experience. Currently most optical films are laminated to the outside of the LCD cell, between the glass and polariser. In this paper we wish to show how it is possible to integrate the compensating optical film within a VA mode LCD cell. The paper will describe the process of making the biaxial film through the process of in-situ photopolymerisation of an aligned film of reactive mesogens in the cholesteric phase using polarised UV light. The film can be made on the colour filter array side of the LCD panel. In addition the process of fabricating a VA mode LCD containing this film will be described and the performance of this module will be presented.

  • This paper describes a Gray Mode Graphic STN LCD drive circuit using USB interface. The drive circuit using USB interface can highly transfer image data created under PC t LCD. Hence, the LCD drive circuit doesn't use microprocessor for the convenience of users. The proposed LCD drive circuit part have been verified by simulation and by ALTERA EPF10K10TC144-3 FPGA implementation in VHDL. The USB interface part have been programmed in MS-Visual C++ 6.0. The validity and efficiency of the proposed LCD drive circuit have been verified by test board. After comparing this LCD drive circuit to specify it was verified that the developed LCD drive circuit showed good performances, such as convenience of users, low cost.

  • The key development issues in the flexible displays are TFT backplane technology for their various applications, which requires competitive device performance as well as its low temperature process. In this paper, with shortly reviewing recent flexible display development status, we describe technical trends of low-temperature a-Si TFTs. Our TFTs show good device characteristics enough to apply LCD and electrophoretic display.

  • We have developed a 3.1-inch diagonal 2D/3D LCD with a novel pixel arrangement, called HDDP (Horizontally Double-Density Pixels), for high-quality 3D images. We have improved 3D visibility by broadening the 3D viewing zone where high-quality images can be seen, and we propose optical characterization methods which can evaluate the high-visibility autostereoscopic displays correctly.

  • In this paper, some automatic inspection algorithms for LCD module are suggested. Human eyes are very good for the inspection in many industrial areas. However, very bright LCD back lighting may cause permanent damage to the human eyes. Also, the growing size of the LCD make it more difficult for the human inspectors. Therefore, using camera set, automatic inspection process becomes very essential for the future LCD industry.

  • This paper deals the TFT-LCD process and quality, process control problems of the process. For improvement of the process quality and yield, we apply a data mining technique to the LCD industry. And some unique quality features of the LCD process are also described. We describe some preceding researches first and relate to the TFT-LCD process and the problems of data mining in the process. Also we tried to observe the problems which need to solve first and the features from description below hazard must be considered a quality mining in LCD industry.

  • 현재 사용하는 LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) 장치는 비발광형 LCD장치를 사용하므로 외부광원이 필요하다. 투과형 LCD의 경우는 Panel의 뒷면이나 측면에 전용광원(Backlight unit)을 사용하여 빛을 투과시킴으로서 발광할 수 있도록 하는 방법을 사용한다. 현재는 이러한 투과명을 사용하는 것이 일반화되는 추세로 광원을 LCD전면으로 효율적으로 반사하는 Panel의 뒷면을 설계하는 다양한 방법이 개발되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 최적화된 설계를 위한 모델링 도구(Modeling Tool)와 주어진 광원으로부터 LCD 전면으로 출력되는 광량의 분포를 예측하는 시뮬레이터(Simulator)를 제안한다.
