  • The research reviews three experimental designs which include Split Plot Design (SPD), Crossover Design (CD) and Replicated Design (RD) by using Latin Square Design (LSD). SPD (CRD, LSD) and SPD (LSD, RCBD) that are derived from (S:A)${\times}B{\times}C{\times}D$ and $A{\times}B{\times}C{\times}D$. In addition, (S:A)${\times}B{\times}C$, (S:A)${\times}C{\times}D$ and (S:A)${\times}B{\times}C{\times}D$ can be used to generate various LSD and CD models. Finally, Replicated LSDs are considered to increase the power of detectability.

  • In $4{\times}4$ graeco-latin square design, powers of rank transformed statistic for testing the main effect are superior to powers of parametric statistic without regard to the effect structure with equally or unequally spaced effect levels as well as the type of population distributions such as exponential, double exponential, normal and uniform distribution. As numbers of block effect or effect sizes are decreased, powers of rank transformed statistic are much higher than powers of parametric statistic. In case that block effects are smaller than a main effect or one block effect is higher than other block effects, powers of rank transformed statistic are much higher than powers of parametric statistic in $4{\times}4$ graeco-latin square design with three block effects and one main effect.

  • A generalized recursive circulant network(GR) is widely used in the design and implementation of local area networks and parallel processing architectures. In this paper, we investigate the routing of a message on this network, that is a key to the performance of this network. We would like to transmit maximum number of packets from a source node to a destination node simultaneously along paths on this network, where the ith packet traverses along the ith path. In order for all packets to arrive at the destination node securely, the ith path must be node-disjoint from all other paths. For construction of these paths, employing the Hamiltonian Circuit Latin Square(HCLS), a special class of (n x n) matrices, we present O(n2) parallel routing algorithm on generalized recursive circulant networks.

  • Recently, linear motors are applied to many small precision products. Thus high generating power with small size is required of it. In order to increase the motor efficiency, the design variables need to be optimized. In this study, Vector Fields FEM software, OPERA-3d, was used for simulating linear motor. The thrust and magnetic flux density at the air-gap center were simulated and compared with the experimental results. Taguchi method was applied to investigate the effects of each variables. As a result, the thickness of conductor and magnet was important for the thrust but the thickness of the yoke. The temperature of the conductor was determined by finding the thermal conductivity that was determined by experimentation. Correlation equation relating to the thrust and temperature was proposed by Latin square and Least Square method. The optimum design variables were determined by correlation equation, and compared with simulation results. According to this analysis, thrust force of linear motor was improved about 7% comparing with conventional model.

  • Compared with single design, powers of rank transformed statistic for testing main and interaction effects for $2{\times}2$ factorial in $4{\times}4$ latin square design are rapidly increased as effect size and replication size are increased. In general powers of rank transformed statistic are superior without regard to the diversified effect composition and the type of error distributions as nontesting factors are few and effect size are small. Powers of rank transformed statistic show much higher level than those of parametric statistic in exponential and double exponential distributions. Further powers of rank transformed statistic are very similar with those of parametric statistic in normal and uniform distributions.

  • Due to the characteristics of 3 ${\times}$ 3 Latin square design which is composed of two block effects and one main effect, powers of rank transformed statistic for testing the main effect are very superior to powers of parametric statistic without regard to the type of population distributions. By order of when all three effects are fixed, when on one block effect is random, when two block effects are random, the rank transform statistic for testing the main effect shows relatively high powers as compared with the parametric statistic. Further when the size of main effect is big with one equivalent size of block effect and the other small size of block effect, powers of rank transformed statistic for testing the main effect demonstrate excellent advantage to powers of parametric statistic.

  • This study was planned to verify the usefulness of Latin square design method in fatigue tests of cables and to see the axial fatigue behavior of wire ropes being used as hangers in suspension bridges. Three parameters : mean stress, stress range. and specimen length, were adopted for verification. The effects of these parameters are in argument except for stress range. Three classes in each parameter were used. Triple replication was performed in each cell to increase the number of replication (or degree of freedoms). The major cause of fatigue failure was fretting fatigue at trellis contact point. Three chosen parameters were proved to be significant. It was verified that the effect of stress range was in agreement with expectation, but the effect of specimen length was contrary to the expectation. It was also observed that the effect of mean stress depended upon the chosen level. Therefore Latin square design method is effective for verifying the parameters that affect fatigue behaviour under orthogonality conditions.

  • Crossover design is officially except for special occasions recommended by KFDA and FDA for assessing Bioequivalence between two drugs one for reference and the other for innovator. Such design is regarded as a special case of latin square split-polt or repeated measurement design and its main difference with other designing methods is that each subject in an experiment is exposed two drugs in sequence. Therefore general statistical analysis is not suitable since the model for this experiment includes carryover effect in addition to period and sequence effect. in this paper analysis for crossover model with two drugs and its interpretation are mainly discussed and an example is given for illustration.

  • Recursive circulant graph has recently developed as a new model of multiprocessors, and drawn considerable attention to supercomputing, In this paper, we investigate the routing of a message i recursive circulant, that is a key to the performance of this network. On recursive circulant network, we would like to transmit m packets from a source node to a destination node simultaneously along paths, where the ith packet will traverse along the ith path $(o{\leq}i{\leq}m-1)$. In oder for all packets to arrive at the destination node quickly and securely, the ith path must be node-disjoint from all other paths. For construction of these paths, employing the Hamiltonian Circuit Latin Square(HCLS), a special class of $(n{\times}n)$ matrices, we present $O(n^2)$ parallel routing algorithm on recursive circulant network.
