In this paper, we propose a system termed ForestLi that can accurately estimate the diameter at breast height (DBH) and tree height using LiDAR point cloud data. The ForestLi system processes LiDAR point cloud data through the following steps: downsampling, outlier removal, ground segmentation, ground height normalization, stem extraction, individual tree segmentation, and DBH and tree height measurement. A commercial system, such as LiDAR360, for processing LiDAR point cloud data requires the user to directly correct errors in lower vegetation and individual tree segmentation. In contrast, the ForestLi system can automatically remove LiDAR point cloud data that correspond to lower vegetation in order to improve the accuracy of estimating DBH and tree height. This enables the ForestLi system to reduce the total processing time as well as enhance the accuracy of accuracy of measuring DBH and tree height compared to the LiDAR360 system. We performed an empirical study to confirm that the ForestLi system outperforms the LiDAR360 system in terms of the total processing time and accuracy of measuring DBH and tree height.
This paper proposes an algorithm for 3D object detection by processing point cloud data of 3D LiDAR. Unlike 2D LiDAR, 3D LiDAR-based data was too vast and difficult to process in three dimensions. This paper introduces various studies based on 3D LiDAR and describes 3D LiDAR data processing. In this study, we propose a method of processing data of 3D LiDAR using clustering techniques for object detection and design an algorithm that fuses with cameras for clear and accurate 3D object detection. In addition, we study models for clustering 3D LiDAR-based data and study hyperparameter values according to models. When clustering 3D LiDAR-based data, the DBSCAN algorithm showed the most accurate results, and the hyperparameter values of DBSCAN were compared and analyzed. This study will be helpful for object detection research using 3D LiDAR in the future.

There are many previous researches such as verification of accuracy, application, and change detection of discrete return LiDAR data, but no researches for full waveform LiDAR data. In this study, we selected the forest area and urban area as case study areas and compared the height accuracy of full waveform LiDAR data with field surveying data. As a result, we got an RMSE of 3.lcm in urban area, 4.7cm in forest area, and it is verified that height accuracy of full waveform LiDAR is high. We think that it is very usefull in aerial photogrammetry.

Recently, the studies on the extraction of 3-dimension position information and attribute information of ground surface using LiDAR data. LiDAR data has high locational accuracy, and advantage that can process data more fast because there's not coordinate transform when acquire of Data justly the ground coordinate by Acquiring. The paper using only LiDAR data Manufacture road, building, contour That occupy a many parts of Digital Map. Estimated for possibility of Digital mapping using only LiDAR data As that compare accuracy with Digital map.

LiDAR systems are usually incorporated a laser scanner and GPS/INS modules with a digital aerial camera. LiDAR point clouds and digital aerial images acquired by the systems provide complementary spatial information on the ground. In addition, some of laser scanners provide intensity, radiometric information on the surface of the earth. Since the intensity is unnecessary of registration and provides the radiometric information at a certain wavelength on the location of LiDAR point, it can be a valuable ancillary information but it does not deliver sufficient radiometric information compared with digital images. This study utilize the LiDAR points as ground control points (GCPs) to adjust exterior orientations(EOs) of the stereo images. It is difficult to find exact point of LiDAR corresponding to conjugate points in stereo images, but this study used intensity of LiDAR as an ancillary data to find the GCPs. The LiDAR points were successfully used to adjust EOs of stereo aerial images, therefore, successfully provided the prerequisite for the precise registration of the two data sets from the LiDAR systems.
In this study, we propose a compensation method of raw LiDAR data with noise and noise filtering for signal processing of LiDAR sensors during the development phase. The raw LiDAR data include constant errors generated by delays in transmitting and receiving signals, which can be resolved by LiDAR signal compensation. The signal compensation consists of two stage. First one is LiDAR sensor calibration for a compensation of geometric distortion. Second is walk error compensation. LiDAR data also include fluctuation and outlier noise, the latter of which is removed by data filtering. In this study, we compensate for the fluctuation by using the Kalman filter method, and we remove the outlier noise by applying a Gaussian weight function.

The use of airborne LiDAR data obtained by airborne laser scanners has increased in the field of spatial information such as building modeling. LiDAR data consist of irregularly distributed 3D coordinates and lack visual and semantic information. Therefore, LiDAR data processing is complicate. This study suggested a method of LiDAR data segmentation using roof surface patches from aerial images. Each segmented patch was modeled by analyzing geometric characteristics of the LiDAR data. The optimal functions could be determined with segmented data that fits various shapes of the roof surfaces as flat and slanted planes, dome and arch types. However, satisfiable segmentation results were not obtained occasionally due to shadow and tonal variation on the images. Therefore, methods to remove unnecessary edges result in incorrect segmentation are required.

The purpose of this paper is forcasting of flooding area using LiDAR surveying data, and flood map for damage prevention is established for this purpose. Teahwa river at Ulsan city was chosen as test area and the flood simulation was produced in this area. For the flood simulation, each DEM using LiDAR data and digital map was established and then HEC model program and MIKE program was used to decide the amount of flood flowing and flood height. To improve the rainfall-overflow simulation confidence using inspection comparison of LiDAR data this paper analyzed and compared the LiDAR DEM accuracy and 1/5000 digital map DEM. The height accuracy is important factor to make flood map, however, LiDAR survey execution of all river area is not economic so, LiDAR survey execution of only important area is possible to be make high accuracy and economic flood map. The expectation effect of flood simulation is flood damage prevention and economic savings of recovery cost by forcasting of rainfall-overflow area and establishment of counter-measure.

DEM has been used for various purposes overall fields of engineering, the fields of civil engineering, military, communication, environment, and so forth and its applications are being extending increasingly. It is well hewn that LiDAR DEM is definitely superior to the other surveying methods. But LiDAR DEM run short of a full study about vertical accuracy. In order to assess LiDAR DEM, total 35 stations were selected and surveyed by GPS for utilizing as reference data. And then accuracy of LiDAR DEM was analyzed by comparison between both LiDAR DEM and CPS surveying. The RMSE of ${\pm}0.109m$ was shown in vertical direction. It is within the permissible accuracy required for mapping on a scale of 1 to 500 and 1 to 1000 on the mapping rule notified by the National Geographic Information Institute. It is expected that the results of this study will be fully used in the field of large scale DEM generation and be utilized as basic information in applied field of LiDAR DEM.

LiDAR plays a key role in autonomous vehicles, where it is used to detect the environment in place of the driver's eyes, and its role is expanding. In recent years, there has been a growing need to test the performance of LiDARs installed in autonomous vehicles. Many LiDAR performance tests have been conducted in simulated and indoor(lab) environments, but the number of tests in outdoor(field) and real-world road environments has been minimal. In this study, we compared LiDAR performance under the same conditions lab and field to determine the relationship between lab and field tests and to establish the characteristics and roles of each test environment. The experimental results showed that LiDAR detection performance varies depending on the lighting environment (direct sunlight, led) and the detected object. In particular, the effect of decreasing intensity due to increasing distance and rainfall is greater outdoors, suggesting that both lab and field experiments are necessary when testing LiDAR detection performance on objects. The results of this study are expected to be useful for organizations conducting research on the use of LiDAR sensors and facilities for LiDAR sensors.
