Since big data platform services for the public library began January 1, 2016, libraries have used big data to improve their work performance. This paper aims to examine the use cases of library big data and attempts to draw improvement plan to improve the effectiveness of library big data. For this purpose, first, we examine big data used while utilizing the library big data platform, the usage pattern of big data and services/policies drawn by big data analysis. Next, the limitations and advantages of the library big data platform are examined by comparing the data analysis of the integrated library management system (ILUS) currently used in public libraries and data analysis through the library big data platform. As a result of case analysis, big data usage patterns were found program planning and execution, collection, collection, and other types, and services/policies were summarized as customizing bookshelf themes for the book curation and reading promotion program, increasing collection utilization, and building a collection based on special topics. and disclosure of loan status data. As a result of the comparative analysis, ILUS is specialized in statistical analysis of library collection unit, and the big data platform enables selective and flexible analysis according to various attributes (age, gender, region, time of loan, etc.) reducing analysis time. Finally, the limitations revealed in case analysis and comparative analysis are summarized and suggestions for improvement are presented.

This study revisits issues for Big data. Three research questions, understanding the concept of Big data, important issues of Big data research and utilization methods for library information services, are explored by the literature and practice reviews. Study results revealed several important issues of Big data including the concept in the context of real world situation, the problems with the accuracy and reliability of the data, privacy and ethical issues, and issues of intellectual property rights. With understanding these issues, a few utilization methods were introduced for Library and Information services. It was included using its analysis for developing vision, adopting Library management, supporting community services, and providing customized information services for various users. The study concluded Big data analysis would effectively provide valid evidences for all those services.

Most public library websites provide unstructured cultural program data, which cannot be produced and utilized systematically as bibliographic information. It is not sufficiently used in existing library big data research or cases, and there is a risk of disappearing when the website is reorganized or the person in charge is changed. This study developed a data schema that can be used in conjunction with bibliographic data by collecting and analyzing cultural programs and community service data produced in an unstructured manner and proposed to share and utilize public library cultural programs and community service data, and establish a library big data platform that can serve as an information channel between librarians who are cultural program planners. Library program data posted on the library website can be integrated and managed through the platform, securing continuity of work, and systematically managing and preserving the specialized service history of individual libraries.

Big data refers to dataset whose size is beyond the ability of typical database software tools to capture, store, manage, and analyze. And now it is considered to create the new opportunity in every industry. The purpose of this study is to develop of big data services in public library for improved library services. To this end, analysed the type of library big data and needs of stockholders through the various methods such as deep interview, focus group interview, questionnaire. At first step, we defined the 16 big data service models from interview with librarians, and LIS professions. Second step, it was considered necessity, timeliness, possibility of development. We developed the final two services called on 'Decision Support Services for Public Librarians' and 'Book Recommendation Services for Users.'

In the vibrant environment, documentation and managing systems are maintained autonomously through education foundations, book materials and libraries at the same time as information are not voluntarily accessible in a centralized location. At the moment Libraries are providing online resources and services for education activities. Moreover, libraries are applying outlets of social media such as Facebook as well as Instagrams to preview their services and procedures. Librarians with the assistance of promising tools and technology like analytics software are capable to accumulate more online information, analyse them for incorporating worth to their services. Thus Libraries can employ big data to construct enhanced decisions concerning collection developments, updating public spaces and tracking the purpose of library book materials. Big data is being produced due to library digitations and this has forced restrictions to academicians, researchers and policy creator's efforts in enhancing the quality and effectiveness. Accordingly, helping the library clients with research articles and book materials that are in line with the users interest is a big challenge and dispute based on Taibah university in Saudi Arabia. The issues of this domain brings the numerous sources of data from various institutions and sources into single place in real time which can be time consuming. The most important aim is to reduce the time that lapses among the authentic book reading and searching the specific study material.

The purpose of this study is to develop and present a model that can evaluate the data maturity of library. To achieve this goal, library data maturity model can be applied to library was designed by analyzing previous studies related to data maturity. As a result of this study, proposed data maturity model consisting of 19 evaluation factors in 5 areas was designed, and the maturity level was set to 5 levels. In the future, it will be possible to measure the data maturity of libraries participating in the library big data project using the data maturity evaluation model, and it can be expected that in the long term, it will be possible to present a direction for data-based library operation and data utilization development.

This study aims to conduct a big data analysis of public library operations and uses of 16 metropolitan local government of Korea by using the Chernoff face method. This study is the first to use the Chernoff face method for big data analysis of library services in library and information research. The association of variables and human facial features was decided by survey. The study reveals that in general the provincial governments in Korea operate more libraries, invest more budgets, allocate more staff and hold more collections than metropolitan cities. This administration resulted in more use of libraries in provincial governments than metropolitan cities.

The purpose of this study to analyze the informatization trends in Korea through objective newspaper data for the period from 1998 to 2017 for informatization and library in four newspapers including KyoungHyang Newspaper, Kookmin Ilbo, Hankyoreh and Hankookilbo. Based on the analysis results of metadata and related words using BIGKinds, a news big data system, this study presented analysis of simple frequency, classification and classification of the keywords 'information', 'informatization' and 'library'. Based on the results, we compared and analyzed the tendency of informatization in the media through comparison with the 'Information White Paper' which is the publication of government agencies and with research about the research topic of 4 academic journals in the Library and Information Science field. This study tried to interpret the trends of informatization based on the media and it is meaningful that we analyzed the big data of newspaper article which is the long term and time series data. Based on the results of the study, implications of the growth and development of libraries with domestic informatization were suggested. It is expected that we will be able to create a basic framework for developing library informatization policy through the further studies.

With accommodation of a population of many young people and families due to Hangang River New Town Housing Project and development of railway station spheres, a need is increasing to improve the quality of public libraries service for Gimpo citizens and to establish more libraries. This study thus analyzed the book lending data of Gimpo City libraries, and the city's libraries-related social media big data in an effort to forecast the users, and thus to propose four library service improvement measures. First, in terms of book gathering and book development policy plans, a proposal was made to expand good books for children and youth, and to expand general original-language books related to learning of English, and English books for children. Second, in terms of the establishment of additional libraries or specialization strategy, a proposal was made to establish exclusive children's libraries or English libraries, and to establish library specialization strategy with a focus on children and English themes. Third, in terms of library culture programs, a proposal was made to provide library culture programs in relation to children education and to expand weekend library culture programs. Fourth, in terms of library facilities, considering the convenience of parking facilities, a proposal was made to establish libraries near apartment complexes.

This study analyzed the previous studies and utilization cases on library big data, and based on this, analyzed the collection/circulation data of the library big data platform and tried to derive meaningful analysis results. And five analysis indicators were selected: the increase rate of collections by annual, the composition of collections by subject, the composition of unborrowed collections by subject, the rate of borrowed collections, and use factor by subject. The analysis data is 6,722,603 cases of collection/circulation data from 33 public libraries in Busan. The main analysis results are as follows. First, it was found that the gap in the number of circulation was larger than the number of collection in the 33 public libraries. Second, the annual increase rate of collections also showed a clear decline. Third, each library showed a similar pattern in the composition of both the collections and the unborrowed collections by subject. Fourth, it was found that users' circulation were very different by subject and library. Fifth, in most libraries, the rate of circulation of collections and use factor in the natural science field were the highest.
