The purpose of this study is to develop evaluation index for school library in order to find ways to continue the improvement of school library by examining deficient areas and developing necessary areas, in which almost every school have libraries as a result of school library promotion project for last five years. To fulfill this, the research analyzed 2009 evaluation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism(MCST), policy research evaluation index of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology(MEST), BSC product index of school library from preceding research, school library evaluation standard of Korean Library Association (KLA), two-phased base plan and school library promotion law of school library promotion of the MEST and evaluation index of municipal/province education agency of MEST, and thereby developed 54 evaluation index from 8 areas. The research ultimately presents 48 evaluation index from 8 areas. Also, analysis result was first verified by school library experts to increase credibility of the evaluation standard of the research. Based on the result, second evaluation was done by school library faculty staff, and thus went through two-phased verification process.

The purpose of this study is to develop an evaluation index for evaluating the economic value of libraries. To this end, a preliminary evaluation index was derived from analyzing a total of approximately 60 domestic and foreign papers that examined the value of libraries. Based on the derived preliminary evaluation index, 11 experts were selected and the final evaluation index was developed by conducting the Delphi survey for 3 times. The final evaluation index consists of four evaluation areas, such as the economic value of the public library, economic revitalization, manpower development and job creation, and the improved investment value, seven evaluation items, and 22 evaluation indices. In the future, it will be necessary to conduct research to measure the economic value of public libraries.

The purpose of this study was to elicit the priority of the index of the operation evaluation of the school library, and to present measures for improvement of the evaluation index that reflects the project sites. To this end, the school library evaluation index was analyzed by applying the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) analysis method to teacher librarians who are the representative personnel of the school library. According to the research, the priority of the upper tier evaluation areas was human resources, library services, information resources, library management, facilities and environment, and the priority of the lower tier evaluation items was human resource allocation, human resources expertise, reading education, information literacy education, efforts to activate education, book composition snowflake, the latest book, budget, facility access, book status, appropriateness of facilities and facilities, management plan, proximity accessibility, PR and marketing, school library steering committee, cooperation, use of materials current status. The conclusions drawn from this study could be used as basic data in the application of fieldworked school library assessment indicators.

This study has the aim of developing an evaluation index that can help evaluate the reliability of the information resources of institutions retaining humanities assets for the purposes of laying out the foundation for providing one-stop portal service for humanities assets. To this end, the evaluation index was derived through the analysis of previous research, case studies, and interviews with experts, the derived evaluation index was then applied to the humanities assets retaining institutions to verify the utility. The institutional information resources' reliability evaluation index consisted of the two dimensions of the institutions' own reliability evaluation index. The institution provided a service and system evaluation index. The institutions' own reliability evaluation index consisted of 25 points for institutional authority, 25 points for data collection and construction, 30 points for data provision, and 20 points for appropriateness of data, for a total of 100 points, respectively. The institution provided service and system evaluation indexes consisting of 25 points for information quality, 15 points for appropriateness (decency), 15 points for accessibility, 20 points for tangibility, 15 points for form, and 10 points for cooperation, for the total of 100 points, respectively. The derived evaluation index was used to evaluate the utility of 6 institutions representing humanities assets through application. Consequently, the reliability of the information resources retained by the Research Information Service System (RISS) of the Korea Education & Research Information Service (KERIS) turned out to be the highest.

The small library evaluation index, which was previously developed and is currently in use, needs to be improved because of two major reasons: inefficient allocation of points along with evaluation items and detailed indicators that are different from the actual environment of small libraries; and the lack of value as basic data for preparing policies relevant to small libraries. Therefore, the present study proposed a small library operation evaluation index (draft) that includes not only a quantitative evaluation but also a qualitative evaluation that allows the evaluation of the basic purpose and value of small libraries by reflecting the demands of the small libraries that are being evaluated. The proposed small library operation evaluation index (draft) was made to be an evaluation for self-inspection that enables small libraries to autonomously conduct operation evaluation and gauge their level by diversifying the evaluation methods and the evaluation scale of detailed indicators.

The basis of public libraries as a service organization dependes on the customer's needs and expectation. Recently, public libraries have faced an existence crisis attacked from the development of Internet and the various cultural programs of other organizations. Thus, public libraries required continuos effort in order to get the existence necessity from community and customers. This paper investigates and compares with the public Service Charter provided a customer oriented public service, public library evaluation indexes by the Ministry of Culture & Tourism Gyeonggi Province, and a public satisfaction survey by Seoul Metropolitan. Thus this paper can provide the basis materials fur future public library evaluation.

This study is to suggest some improvement directions of the criteria for the management evaluation in order to contribute to the achievement of lasting value of the continuous development and publicity in regard to the public library means-efficiency. To this end, This study analyzed the means-efficiency evaluation criteria via theoretical review on business analysis of private enterprise and the analysis framework based on it. The improvement of evaluation criteria in regard to efficiency for the continuous development of public library are as follows. 1) Regardless of domestic and foreign, an efficiency index in the performance evaluation index of public library is absolutely insufficient. The sufficient indexes measuring efficiency which is appropriate for the concept of performance should be developed. 2) A flow data representing input and performance in certain time period is insufficient. Therefore, evaluation index consisted of flow data should be more developed. 3) Long term stock data is excluded in the term cost as it is the cost used for the long term such as fixed assets. However, it is useful as input data, which is realized through the perfect accounting.

As awareness of social and environmental issues increases due to the gust of ESG management, interest in ESG management is increasing, and the influence of ESG evaluation is getting stronger, and libraries need to participate in ESG management evaluation. In order to apply ESG management to libraries, library ESG evaluation indicators must be developed. Therefore, this study attempted to comprehensively examine ESG management evaluation indicators of public institutions, including companies, and propose ESG management evaluation indicators applicable to libraries. To this end, it went through the process of investigating and analyzing ESG-related prior research, deriving preliminary evaluation indicators for libraries, collecting expert FGI opinions, developing primary library ESG evaluation indicators based on expert FGI opinions, and) examining the suitability of primary library ESG evaluation indicators. Finally, a total of 25 items were selected in the environmental area, a total of 56 items in the social area, and a total of 32 items in the governance area. In future studies, it is necessary to conduct ESG management evaluation for libraries based on this indicator.

The purpose of this study is to construct the school library consulting supervision model and to develop the evaluation indicators of school libraries in Korea. Individual School library should contribute from school educational objectives to national level educational objectives. When school libraries have accountability, consulting supervision and evaluation for the school library education is needed. School library consulting supervision model was developed with seven components. School library evaluation index is proposed with seventy-two indicators in six categories. Results of the evaluation will be able to take advantage consulting supervision.

This study intends to make a comprehensive inquiry into the meaning and limitations of Discovery, and to explore how to make full use of Discovery in library cataloging. To this end, first discussed is the meaning of Discovery, which has a variety definitions. For the quality evaluation, 5 criteria were developed on the basis of literature review. Then this study conducted the quality evaluation on the basis of previously developed 5 criteria and usefulness of Discovery in library catalogs is thoroughly discussed. Based on these, the final discussion includes strategies for Korean LIS scholars and library practitioners to consider when applying Discovery as an integrated search tool.
