The Pareto principle, also known as the 80/20 rule, describes this common pattern of sales concentration. But long tail principle, that expose the power of majority which had been put aside for a long time, rise as a new business strategy in web 2.0 era. In digital and online environment, as created the conditions that satisfy the need of diversity, long-tail effect has been relevant to all social cultures. This paper consider the long-tail effect from a library service point of view and develop library's long-tail strategies. For the more, suggest practical plan about library long-tail based on library 2.0.

This study was carried out to ascertain phylogenetic status of long-tail chicken which found recently in Korea and was presumed to be a kind of Korean Natives. 10 loci microsatellites were analysed for 449 birds of 11 groups and 2 region of mitochondrial DNA were sequenced for 135 birds of the same groups, that consist of 3 introduced breeds and 8 Korean Natives including 3 long-tail chicken. In mean numbers of alleles per locus(MNA) for microsatellites, long-tail chicken were smaller (2.60${\sim}$3.20) than the others, but in heterozygosities, were higher(0.4087${\sim}$0.5375) than others that were the same level of MNA. And in the neighbor joining bootstrap tree drawing by Nei's standard distance, they made a cluster with some Korean Native groups. All of the nucleotide sequences of mitochondrial cytochrome b gene and D-loop were classified into 23 haplotypes. In long-tail chicken, the haplotypes were 3 kinds, and were different among the groups (LTA, LTB and LTD). Resultly, it was supposed that 3 groups of the long-tail chicken be all a kind of Korean Natives.

In this paper, we consider a discrete time queueing system fed by a superposition of an ON and OFF source with heavy tail ON periods and geometric OFF periods and a D-BMAP (Discrete Batch Markovian Arrival Process). We study the tail behavior of the queue length distribution and both infinite and finite buffer systems are considered. In the infinite buffer case, we show that the asymptotic tail behavior of the queue length of the system is equivalent to that of the same queueing system with the D-BMAP being replaced by a batch renewal process. In the finite buffer case (of buffer size K), we derive upper and lower bounds of the asymptotic behavior of the loss probability as $K\;\longrightarrow\;\infty$.

This study observes the case of Kakao-Page, a webtoon and web novel company, revealing the relationship between long-tail strategy and corporate competence in the cultural content industry market. This study investigated the various expansion strategies of Kakao-Page and investigated the strength of the strategy through value, rare, inimitability, and organization the method of VRIO analysis. The biggest strength of Kakao-Page is its diverse range of products ranging from 66,000, and not only does it gain merit as a long-tail, but it also becomes the core of the vertical integration and various expansion strategy. The study points out that the ability to secure a wide range of products is essential for platform content companies seeking access to the market. Also, the need for follow-up research regarding content platforms and long-tail.

The renowned Pareto rule of 80/20 has been challenged in the electronic marketplace with the emergence of long tail economy. Mass customization on top of the Internet infrastructure is expected to explain these changes of product concentration. In this paper, we empirically analyzed the micro-transactional data of a Groupon-like daily deal web site to identify the changes of product and customer concentration. The results show the long tail pattern aligned with the previous research on the e-commerce literature on the long tail. We find that the notification setting on email or SMS about daily deal influences the patterns of sales concentration. The information through email and SMS is expected to enable consumers to know about daily bargains and purchase the coupons eventually. However, the email notification for niche products results in the decreased sales while the SMS notification for overall product promotes overall products.

Little attention appears to have been paid to the relevance of learning a good representation function in solving long tail tasks. Therefore, we propose a new loss function to ensure a good representation is learnt while learning to classify. We call this loss function Triplet Class-Wise Difficulty-Based (TriCDB-CE) Loss. It is a combination of the Triplet Loss and Class-wise Difficulty-Based Cross-Entropy (CDB-CE) Loss. We prove its effectiveness empirically by performing experiments on three benchmark datasets. We find improvement in accuracy after comparing with some baseline methods. For instance, in the CIFAR-10-LT, 7 percentage points (pp) increase relative to the CDB-CE Loss was recorded. There is more room for improvement on Places-LT.

To detect prophages and bacterioeins, twenty strains of Bacillus circulans were treated with mitomycin C. The resulted lysates were subjected to electron microscopy, and also examined for killing and plaque-forming activities. Fifteen strains showed killing activity on two or more strains of Bacillue circulans. Killing agents were centrifuged in linear 5 to 20% sucrose gradient, and studied with electron microscopy which revealed the presence of particles.They looked morphologically like phage tail of 190 nm long with fiber (FA9, FA5) or without fiber (FA1, FA6), T even phage-like particle with a head of 50 nm in diameter and a tail of 140 nm long (FA7), or T7 phage-like particle with a head of 70 nm in diameter and a tail of 20 nm long (FA17). The killing agent of FA17 showed phage-forming activity on several strains different from killing sensitive strains of Bacillus circulans.

The spermatogenesis of korean leech, Whitmania edentula was observed, using both light and electron microscopes. The spermatogonium and maturing spermatozoon are connected with long cytoplasmic process to the cytophore, which supplys nutrition to the germ cells and supports synchronous maturity. The truck of korean leech is divided into three regions; a long ladder-shaped acrosome and head, long middle piece and long tail. Long head region twists to the dextral helix, and nuclei are surrounded with microtubules (manchette).The nebenkern formed with long mitochondrion exists in the middle pieces, and a long tail of Whitmania edentula ($9\times2+1$ axoneme) differs from the $9\times2+2$ axoneme of Rhynchobdellae. The late cytophore is mostly formed with crystalloid matter and a number of lysosomes, and matured spermatozooms are engulfed into the late cytophore.

Five free-living nematode species belonging to the order of Rhabditida are described for the first time in Korea. Two unrecorded species of Rhabditidae, Cruznema tripartitum (Linston, 1906) Zullini, 1982, and Poikilolaimus oxycerca de Man, 1895, and one species of Peloderidae, Pelodera strongyloides Schneider, 1860, were collected in Korea. C. tripartitum has nine pairs of genital papillae arranged in 2+2+1+4 differently from similar species of C. scarabaeum which has ten genital papillae arranged in 2+1+4+3. Poikilolaimus oxycerca has shorter tail (shorter than anal body diameter) compared to similar species of P. regenfussi which has longer tail(longer than anal body diameter). Pelodera strongyloides has shorter tail(1-1.5 times anal body diameters long) than P. punctata (4 anal body diameters long). Two unrecorded species of Panagrolaimidae, Panagrolaimus apicatus Schuurmans Stekhoven & Teunissen, 1938 and Panagrolaimus rigidus (Schneider, 1866) Thorne, 1937 were collected in Korea. P. apicatus has rounded and lower lip compared to similar species, P. margaretae Massey, 1964 which has finely pointed lip. P. rigidus has slender tail and lips rounded and flat barely separated when compared to similar species, P. subelongatus(Cobb, 1914) Thorne, 1937 which has plumper tail and lips are well separated.

It is very important to understand and interpret the meaning of the sigma level correctly through the Six Sigma project. Especially, the confusion over the relation between sigma level from the short-term point of view and defective proportion or DPMO from the long-term point of view may make a big gap between expected results of the Six Sigma project and real results in the field. The one-tail approximation is commonly used to calculate the sigma level both in most literatures introducing Six Sigma and actual cases of the Six Sigma project. Since the one-tail approximation undervalues the sigma level of the fields such as business and service of which the sigma level is generally low, however. there can be misleading results of the explanation of the sigma level and inappropriate project evaluation. This paper describes the relation between sigma level and defective proportion in detail and clears the difference between the one-tail and two-tail approximation.
