A Study on Electric Power Supply Analysis of Urban MAGLEV Vehicle (도시형 자기부상열차의 전력특성 분석에 관한 연구)

  • The main purpose of this study is to analysis of urban MAGLEV vehicle for the Incheon International Airport Maglev railway, in the process of construction at the moment, in Korea. For analysis of urban MAGLEV, we have measurement power a special quality of MAGLEV operating the center science museum in Deajeon. 1) The power property related to urban MAGLEV vehicle demand on the Incheon International Airport Maglev railway track and substation capacity compared to the result given. 2) The optimum design of substation is determined based on the analysis. 3) The equipments of substation are determined based on the analysis. The result of measurement performance, therefore, enables us to reflect the good property, to the power supply design. The result of research performance, therefore, enables us to reflect the Power Supply System design for the stabilized and economized MAGLEV operation.

Dynamic Interaction Analysis of Maglev and 3 Span Continuous Guideway Based on 3 D Multibody Dynamic Simulation (3차원 다물체동역학 시뮬레이션 기반 자기부상열차와 3경간 연속교 동적상호작용 해석)

  • This study aims to investigate dynamic interaction characteristics between Maglev train and 3 span continuous guideway. The integrated model including a 3D full vehicle model based on multibody dynamics, flexible guideway by a modal superposition method, and levitation electromagnets with the feedback controller is proposed. The proposed model was applied to the Incheon Airport Maglev Railway to analyze the dynamic response of the vehicle and guideway from the numerical simulation. Using field test data of air gap and guideway deflections, obtained from the Incheon Airport Maglev Railway, the analysis method is verified. From the results, it is confirmed that Maglev railway system are designed and constructed safely according to the design criteria.

  • As a result of the current population concentrations in urban centers, demand for intercity transportation is increasing rapidly. Railway transportation is becoming popular as an intercity transportation because of its timely service, travel speeds and transport efficiency. Among the many railway systems, the innovative and environmentally friendly maglev system has been rated very highly as the next-generation intercity railway system. Linear induction motors are widely used for the propulsion of maglev trains because of their light weight and low construction costs. The urban maglev that was recently completed in Incheon airport site employs a 110km/h class linear induction motor. However, this system was designed to meet requirements for inner-city operations and is not suitable as an intercity transportation system, which requires medium to high speeds. Therefore, this study deals with the characteristics and designs of linear induction motors used for the propulsion of maglev trains that can be used as intercity trains. Rail car specifications for high-speed trains have been presented, and the characteristics of linear induction motors that can be used for the propulsion of these trains have been derived using the finite element method (FEM).

  • This paper presents the comparison and analysis of the power supply system of a Maglev train and conventional electric railway. Even though all Maglev trains have batteries on their vehicles, electric power supply from the ground side is necessary for levitation, propulsion, on-board electrical equipment, battery recharging, and so on. At low speeds up to $100{\sim}150(km/h)$, the Maglev train, generally, uses a mechanical contact, a current collector as same as conventional electric railway. However, at high speeds, the Maglev train can no longer obtain power from the ground side by using a mechanical contact. Therefore, high speed Maglev trains use their own way to deliver the power to the vehicle from the ground. In this paper, the power supply systems of the german, japanese, and korean low- and high-speed Maglev trains have been reviewed.

  • Construction of Yamanashi Maglev Test Line in Japan was proceeded based on "superconducting maglev Yamanshi Testline plan" approved by Ministry of Transport Government of Japan in 1990, which was performed by Yamanashi Maglev Test Line construction project team organized by personnel of Japan Railway Construction Public Corporation, RTRI and Central Japan Railway Company, and overall adjustment test was performed. Yamanashi Maglev experimental project team was organized, sponsored by RTRI and Central Japan Railway Company from April in 1997. Running test for the application was performed by this project team. Technical availability was proved by "superconducting maglev committee" of Ministry of Transport Government in March, 2000. In this paper, train radio system by LCX and by millimeter wave will be reviewed.

  • The Maglev(UTM-02) project is leading by Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials and financially supported from the ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy. The early development stagy of Maglev(UTM-02) was adopted the general urban railway pneumatic brake system due to the Korea domestic industrial environment. Currently there is two commercial operation Light Railway Train(LRT) system in Korea. One is U-Line in Uijungbu, and the other is Everline in Yongin. Both LRT systems are adopting high performance light weight hydraulic brake system. But those design and manufacturing core technology of the brake system is came from a major brake system companies located from aboard. Currently various studies have been continued to increase practical application and to improve competitiveness on performance for each sub-system of Maglev. Also in case of brake system, developing competitive hydraulic brake system is required. In this study, we have introduced the development process and performance evaluation of the new hydraulic brake system of Maglev.

Verification of an Analysis Method for Maglev Train-Guideway Interaction Using Field Measurement Data (현장 계측치와의 비교를 통한 자기부상열차-가이드웨이 상호작용 해석기법 검증)

  • In this study, an analysis method for maglev train-guideway interaction is verified using field measurement data. The cabin and bogies of the maglev train are modeled as rigid bodies that are allowed to have heave and pitch motions. Levitation forces from the electromagnetic suspensions on the bogies are controlled using an active control algorithm. The guideway is represented using the Euler-Bernoulli beam. Considering rigorously the changes in air-gaps and material points at which the levitation forces are applied due to the pitch motions of the bogies, dynamic analysis of maglev train-guideway interaction is performed. Using field measurement data, obtained from the Incheon Airport Maglev Railway, the analysis method is verified. Accuracy of the analysis method is investigated. It is determined that the structures in the railway are designed and constructed safely according to the design code for maglev railways.

  • This paper studied on the application of Korean Railway Safety Law and Urban Transit Safety Law in Crashworthiness Regulations to the urban maglev vehicle of KIMM. The crashworthiness regulations for urban transit vehicle should be satisfied to the urban maglev vehicles according to crash analysis results using the explicit finite element method. However, according to its numerical results, the crashworthiness regulations of Korean Railway Safety Law were partially satisfied except the coupling and shunting condition. When a commercial urban maglev vehicle is developed in the near future, the crashworthiness regulations of Korean Railway Safety Law should be considered and satisfied during its structural design stage in some details

  • Making practical use of urban MAGLEV system which is tried by government includes technique development and railway construction. Because huge amount of money will be spent on this project, feasibility study is being carried out in order to check the feasibility and to devise the master plan in prior to making practical use of urban MAGLEV system. The key issues of feasibility study are possibility of technique development, economical feasibility, location of a model railway and the improvement of related laws and regulations. This paper shows the approach to solve these key issues.

  • In the maglev system, accurate train position is essential for safe and efficient train operation. Train positioning systems in the maglev systems are different from conventional railway system because railway train has no wheels. And various train positioning principles and systems have been used in maglev systems. In this paper, we study several positioning principles and systems on adapting existing various maglev systems and analyze functional structure of absolute positioning system in ultra high speed maglev system. Then we propose development scheme on absolute positioning system for developing ultra high speed maglev system.
